This application is also related to the inventor's application Ser. No. 15/375,141 filed on 11 Dec. 2016, the disclosure of which is Incorporated by reference.
- 1. Field of the invention
- The present invention is related to a skin weft hair extension. More particularly, the present invention is related to a skin weft hair extension with replaceable fixing tubes for attaching the hair extension to a customer's hair.
- 2. Discussion of Related Technology
- Generally, the hair extension technology connects one or more extension hair pieces to hair of a person or an animal. The extension hair pieces are to make the person/animal's hair look longer or thicker and/or add color accents to the person/animal's hair. The extension hair pieces for hair extension are in various forms and shapes, and include hair weaves, widgets, etc. In order to attach hair extension to customer's natural hair, various methods using metal tubes, double-sided tape, hair pins have been used. In order to attach and fix a hair extension to a customer's hair, metal tubes were sewn to the skin weft in prior art. Removing the used metal tubes and sewing the metal tube again is not practical. A simpler and practical means to reuse the expensive hair extension has long been in need. The foregoing discussion in this section is to provide general background information, and does not constitute an admission of prior art.
- An objective of the invention is to provide a skin weft hair extension with replaceable hair fixing tube, which extends service life and improves maintainability of skin weft hair extension.
- In order to achieve the objective, the present invention provides a skin weft hair extension comprising an extension tip that is adapted to fixedly hold a plurality of extension hair strands; and a hair extension fixing device that is detachably assembled to the extension tip. The hair extension holding device is adapted to fix the skin weft hair extension to hair strands of a customer. The extension tip comprises a receiving device that receives and detachably holds the hair extension fixing device.
- The hair extension device comprises a hair fixing tube that is deformable under pressure, whereby when the hair fixing tube is squeezed by a tool, the hair fixing tube fixes hair strands that pass through the hair fixing tube, and when the hair fixing tube is restored from squeezed state, the hair fixing tube is removable from the receiving device of the extension tip.
- The receiving device comprises a narrow-width portion that pass through the hair fixing tube, a stopper portion that is provided at one end of the narrow-width portion, which prevents the hair fixing tube from falling off, and a hair holding portion that is wider than the narrow-width portion, wherein the hair holding portion is provided at the other end of the narrow-width portion, and is adapted to hold a plurality of extension hair strands.
- In one embodiment, the hair holding portion is fan-shaped.
- In another embodiment, the hair holding portion is rectangular. In still another embodiment, a plurality of receiving devices and hair extension fixing devices are provided to one skin weft.
- The hair extension device further comprises a loop and a handle to facilitate passing hair strands through the hair fixing tube,
- The skin weft hair extension further comprises a plurality of extension hair strands attached to the hair extension tip.
- The advantageous effects of the present invention are: (1) replacing the metal tube is easy thereby facilitating reuse of the skin weft hair extension; (2) because the metal tube is free to move within a certain range around the receiving device of the hair extension tip, works of passing hair strands through the metal tube and squeezing the tube become easier; (3) because step of sewing the metal tube to the skin weft is not needed, manufacturing of the skin weft hair extension is simplified.
- The accompanying drawings illustrate the best embodiments of the present invention. In the drawings:
