Description
- The disclosure relates to hitch devices and more particularly pertains to a new hitch device for coupling implements of varying widths to a tractor.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a frame that may be removably coupled to a tractor. The frame has a selectively adjustable width. Thus, the frame may be coupled to implements having a variety of widths thereby facilitating the tractor to draw the implements. A spreading unit is coupled to the frame and the spreading unit may be manipulated. The spreading unit urges the frame between a minimum width and a maximum width.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a back perspective view of an adjustable three point hitch system according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a front perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a back perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a left side perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new hitch device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the adjustable threepoint hitch system 10 generally comprises aframe 12 that may be removably coupled to atractor 14. Thetractor 14 may comprise a farm tractor or the like. Theframe 12 has a selectively adjustable width. Thus, theframe 12 may accommodate implements 16 having a variety of widths thereby facilitating thetractor 14 to draw theimplements 16. Theimplements 16 may comprise farming implements or the like. - The
frame 12 comprises acentral member 18 extending between a pair ofend members 20. Theend members 20 are spaced apart from each other and each of theend members 20 extends downwardly from thecentral member 18. Thecentral member 18 has atop side 22. Thecentral member 18 comprises amiddle portion 24 that is slidably coupled between a pair ofterminal portions 26. Thus, central member 18 has a telescopically adjustable width. Each of theterminal portions 26 has adistal end 28 with respect to themiddle portion 24, anupper side 30 and alower side 32. - Each of the
end members 20 comprises aleg 34 that is coupled to and extends downwardly from thelower side 28 corresponding to an associated one of theterminal portions 26. Theleg 34 is positioned adjacent to thedistal end 28 of the associatedterminal portion 26. Afoot 36 is hingedly coupled to theleg 30. Thefoot 36 has atop side 38 and thetop side 38 of thefoot 36 has anotch 40 extending downwardly therein. Thenotch 40 engages theimplement 16 thereby facilitating theimplement 16 to be removably coupled to thetractor 14. - A
lever 42 is hingedly coupled to theupper side 26 of the associatedterminal portion 26 and thelever 42 may be manipulated. Arod 44 extends between thelever 42 and thefoot 36. Thefoot 36 is selectively raised and lowered on theleg 34 when thelever 42 is manipulated. Thus, thefoot 36 selectively engages and releases theimplement 16. Therod 44 is slidably positioned within theleg 34. Ahook 46 is coupled to thetop side 22 corresponding to themiddle portion 24. Thehook 46 selectively engages thetractor 14. Thus, theframe 12 is removably coupled to thetractor 14. - A spreading
unit 48 is coupled to theframe 12 and the spreadingunit 48 may be manipulated. The spreadingunit 48 urges theframe 12 between a minimum width and a maximum width. The spreadingunit 48 comprises asleeve 50 that has afirst end 52 and asecond end 54. Thesleeve 50 extends through thehook 46 such that thesleeve 50 is substantially coextensive with themiddle portion 24. Thesleeve 50 is rotatable about an axis extending longitudinally through thesleeve 50. - A pair of
screws 56 is provided. Each of thescrews 56 threadably engages the sleeve. Each of thescrews 56 extends outwardly from an associated one of thefirst end 52 and thesecond end 54 of thesleeve 50. Each of thescrews 56 has adistal end 58 with respect to thesleeve 50. Thedistal end 58 corresponding to each of thescrews 56 is coupled to thetop side 22 corresponding to an associated one of theterminal portions 26. - A
ratchet 60 is movably coupled to thesleeve 50 and theratchet 60 may be manipulated. Theratchet 60 rotates thesleeve 50 in a firstdirection having sleeve 50 urging each of thescrews 56 to extend outwardly from thesleeve 50. Thus, theterminal portions 26 are urged outwardly from themiddle portion 24. Theratchet 60 rotates thesleeve 50 in a second direction having thesleeve 50 urging each of thescrews 56 to extend inwardly of thesleeve 50. Thus, theterminal portions 26 are urged inwardly toward themiddle portion 24. Theratchet 60 may comprise a chain binder or the like. - The
ratchet 60 includes ahandle 62 that is foldably coupled to theratchet 60 and thehandle 62 may be manipulated. Thehandle 62 urges theratchet 60 to rotate thesleeve 50 in the first direction and the second direction. Thehandle 62 is foldable between a deployed position and a stored position. Thehandle 62 is oriented perpendicular to thecentral member 18 when thehandle 62 is in the deployed position. Thehandle 62 is coextensive with thecentral member 18 when thehandle 62 is positioned in the folded position. - In use, the
hook 46 is coupled to thetractor 14 thereby removably retaining theframe 12 on thetractor 14. Thehandle 62 is manipulated to position theframe 12 at a selected width that corresponds to the width of the selected implement 16. Thelever 42 corresponding to each of theterminal portions 26 is manipulated to urge thecorresponding foot 36 to engage the implement 16. Thus, the implement 16 is coupled to theframe 12. Thelever 42 corresponding to each of theterminal portions 26 is manipulated to urge thecorresponding foot 36 to disengage the implement 16. Thus, the implement 16 is removable from theframe 12. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
