  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • (1) Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to devices for organizing and storing items within an automotive vehicle, and, more particularly, to devices for organizing and storing items within an automotive vehicle that include a mechanism for detachably securing at least one portable storage compartment.
  • (2) Background of the Invention Virtually all vehicles in common use today, such as automobiles, trucks, boats, and the like, include an engine for providing motive power. A battery is typically provided on such vehicles to store electrical energy for use in starting the engine. Once the engine is started, the battery is typically re-charged for subsequent use. When the battery does not charge, it is well known to “jump-start” the vehicle using a charged battery contained in a different vehicle. Typically, this jump-starting process is accomplished by moving a vehicle that has a charged battery adjacent to the disabled vehicle, connecting electrical cables to the charged and discharged batteries, and starting the disabled vehicle.
  • The portable battery jump-start system is designed to be stored within the vehicle for emergency use. Typically, the portable battery jump-start system can store a sufficient amount of electrical energy to perform several jump-starts, after which it must be recharged by connection to a source of electrical energy. When the portable battery jump-start system is not in use, it is desirable that it be stored neatly and carefully for subsequent use. However, as mentioned above, the electrical cables and the power cord are relatively long and inconvenient for storage. Furthermore, in those portable battery jump start systems where the electrical cables are removable connected to the housing, the electrical cables are frequently disconnected therefrom, and may become lost or damaged.
  • Various prior arts have disclosed such portable storage systems. U.S. Pat. No. 4,832,242 A discloses a portable automobile trunk organizer for storing, organizing, and transporting jumper cables, first-aid kits, flares, motor oil, other automotive fluids, flashlights, and other miscellaneous tools. US 20050045682 A1 discloses a collapsible organizer for dividing a vehicle storage area of a vehicle into at least two compartments to organize and store various articles or items that can be used on the way.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,944,544 A discloses a vehicle accessory storage device that is mounted on the opposite end walls of the automobile to provide convenient and organized storage for vehicle accessory items, such as windshield cleaning brushes, oil containers, jumper cables, and various tools. U.S. Pat. No. 4,904,205 A discloses cables that are adapted to be mounted on an automobile and include a structure for establishing connection to the battery of the automobile. The structure includes booster cables that are mounted and a spring wound reel to maintain the cables in compact, stored conditions. Another prior art, U.S. Pat. No. 5,505,358 A, discloses an automotive trunk-organizing device for organizing and storing sales records and literature that allows rapid access to such records and literature.
  • Thus, it would be desirable to provide an improved, portable battery jump-start system that has a structure for conveniently storing the electrical cables and power cords during non-use.
  • SUMMARY
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of storage systems for automobiles or the like in the prior art, the present invention provides an improved apparatus for storing various articles, including jumper cables and the like, for easy access. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved apparatus for making items more easily stored and accessed in an automobile that has all of the advantages of the prior art, and none of the disadvantages.
  • It is, consequently, the primary objective of the present invention to provide a new and improved portable trunk organizer for carrying emergency accessories to be used while travelling in any kind of automobile.
  • It is further an objective of the present invention to provide a bag like accessory with attachable magnets to attach to the underside of the trunk lid that are capable of carrying various important automobile accessories.
  • It is still another objective of the present invention to provide an improved organizer that remains fixed and stationary while the trunk lid is closed to prevent shifting of the organizing unit within the vehicle.
  • It is yet another objective of the present invention to provide a portable, lightweight trunk organizer that is easy to install, equally easy to remove, and inexpensive to manufacture.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated.
  • Numerous objectives, features, and advantages of the present invention will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art upon a reading of the following detailed description of presently preferred, but nonetheless illustrative, embodiments of the present invention when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments, and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description, and should not be regarded as limiting.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • To further clarify various aspects of some example embodiments of the present invention, a more particular description of the invention will be rendered by reference to specific embodiments thereof, which are illustrated in the appended drawing. It is appreciated that the drawing depicts only illustrated embodiments of the invention, and is, therefore, not to be considered limiting of its scope. The invention will be described and explained with additional specificity and detail through the use of the accompanying drawing, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is perspective view of the trunk organizer apparatus.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The embodiments of the present disclosure described below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the disclosure to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that others skilled in the art may appreciate and understand the principles and practices of the present disclosure.
  • The following embodiments and the accompanying drawings, which are incorporated into and form part of this disclosure, illustrate embodiments of the invention, and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles of the invention. To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the invention are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. These aspects are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles of the invention can be employed, and the subject invention is intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents. Other advantages and novel features of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of the invention, when considered in conjunction with the drawings.
  • In some preferred embodiments, the present invention provides an improved organizer to carry and store various necessary items in an automobile. The purpose of the invention is to provide a user friendly, easy to use illuminating apparatus.
  • This section summarizes some aspects of the present disclosure and briefly introduces some preferred embodiments. Simplifications or omissions in this section as well as in the abstract or the title of this description may be made to avoid obscuring the purpose of this section, the abstract and the title. Such simplifications or omissions are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure nor imply any limitations.
  • Referring to the invention now in more detail, the invention FIG. 1 is directed to a rectangular organizer 10 with two parallel long sides 11, 12 and oppositely parallel wide sides 13, 14. The organizer 10 is provided with a handle 15 at the top, and a zipper 16 to seal the organizer 10. On the backside of the organizer 10, a series of magnetic attachments 17 to attach the organizer 10 to the underside of the trunk lid of the automobile is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the disclosed apparatus has been developed for organizing a variety of automobile accessories and emergency equipment in such a way that the items are readily accessible within an automobile trunk. Accordingly, the present invention discloses a bag like organizer that can magnetically attach to the trunk lid of the vehicle. • With automobiles being so essential in daily routine life, people tend to keep necessary items in the trunk of the vehicle at all times. A handy storage area, the trunk sometimes becomes a catch all for necessary automobile supplies. Emergency items, such as a spare gas can, jumper cables, water, and various tools also wrestle for space in both small and large trunk areas. Trunks are utilized to store and transport a variety of goods, including groceries, sporting equipment, and a virtually limitless array of personal items and accessories. Sometimes, people come and open their trunks and see all these items scattered all over the trunk, thus creating a mess and making it difficult to look for the appropriate item to be used that time.
  • Accordingly, the present organizer is an essentially rectangular storage and organizing system utilized in the trunk or rear cargo area of an automobile. It provides the user with a neat and accessible means of managing these items, while also increasing the amount of storage space available in the trunk. The disclosed apparatus interlocks and snaps together easily and securely to accommodate a variety of trunk spaces, cargo areas, and personal preferences. It is manufactured in a variety of lengths, widths, and configurations to accommodate the schematics of various motor vehicles on the market. It is manufactured from ballistic nylon material with a zipper and magnets.
  • Although specific embodiments have been illustrated and described herein, it will be appreciated by those of ordinary skill in the art that any arrangement that is calculated to achieve the same purpose may be substituted for the specific embodiment shown. This application is intended to cover any adaptations or variations of the present invention.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
