Abstract
A connecting member for an abrasive member includes a body and a fixing member. The body includes a connecting portion, a cylindrical portion connected to an end of the connecting portion and having a compartment, and an opening intercommunicated with the compartment. The compartment includes an inner periphery having an inner threaded portion. The fixing member includes a stopper portion and an outer threaded portion integrally connected to the stopper portion and threadedly engaged with the inner threaded portion. The outer threaded portion of the fixing member extends through an axial hole of an abrasive member and is, then, threadedly engaged with the inner threaded portion of the body. A bottom face of the cylindrical portion and the top face of the stopper portion together clamp an upper face and a lower face of the abrasive member, thereby securely fixing the abrasive member and the body together.
Description
- This application claims the benefit of Taiwan Patent Application No. 104218889, filed Nov. 25, 2015, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention relates to a connecting member for an abrasive member and, more particularly, to a connecting member for connection with an abrasive member to provide convenient use.
- There are various abrasive members for grinding surfaces of different materials. For example, sanding wheels, sandpaper wheels, non-woven abrasive wheels, rubber abrasive wheels, brush wheels with metal filaments, and disc sanders can be used for grinding, decontamination, derusting, and polishing.
FIG. 3 shows a conventional sandpaper wheel to be coupled to ashaft 2′ of a polishing tool or a grinding tool. The abrasive member 1′ includes anaxial hole 11′ through which theshaft 2′ of the polishing tool or the grinding tool extends. Then, a threadedblock 3′ having an inner thread is threadedly engaged with a threadedportion 2′ of theshaft 2′, thereby fixing the abrasive member 1′ to theshaft 2′, as shown inFIG. 4 . Thus, theabrasive member 2′ can rotate together with theshaft 2′ to polish a workpiece. - However, the abrasive member 1′ having an
axial hole 11′ cannot couple with an electric or pneumatic grinding tool having a three jaw chuck but no shafts. Thus, a connecting member for securely coupling with an abrasive member 1′ having anaxial hole 11′ for the purpose of coupling with an electric or pneumatic grinding tool having a three jaw chuck will be a useful invention. - The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a connecting member for an abrasive member that can securely connected to an abrasive member having an axial hole, thereby coupling with an electric or pneumatic grinding tool having a three jaw chuck. The present invention can effectively solve the disadvantages of the conventional abrasive members and is every ideal.
- To achieve the above objective, a connecting member for an abrasive member according to the present invention includes a body and a fixing member.
- The outer threaded portion of the fixing member extends through an axial hole of an abrasive member. Then, the outer threaded portion of the fixing member is threadedly engaged with the inner threaded portion of the body, such that a bottom face of the cylindrical portion of the body and the top face of the stopper portion of the fixing member together clamp an upper face and a lower face of the abrasive member, thereby securely fixing the abrasive member and the body together, which is convenient in use and very ideal.
- The present invention will become clearer in light of the following detailed description of illustrative embodiments of this invention described in connection with the drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded, perspective view of a connecting member for an abrasive member of an embodiment according to the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view of the connecting member ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view of a conventional sandpaper wheel. -
FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view illustrating use of the sandpaper wheel ofFIG. 3 . - With reference to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , a connecting member for an abrasive member according to the present invention includes a body 1 and afixing member 2. The body 1 includes a connectingportion 11, acylindrical portion 13 connected to an end of the connectingportion 11, and anopening 14. The connectingportion 11 has polygonal cross sections, such as hexagonal cross sections. Thecylindrical portion 13 has acompartment 12. Thecompartment 12 includes an inner periphery having an inner threadedportion 121. The opening 14 intercommunicates with thecompartment 12. - Preferably, connecting
portion 11 includes an outer periphery having anannular groove 111 in an appropriate location for coupling with a chuck. - The
fixing member 2 includes astopper portion 21 and an outer threadedportion 22 integrally connected to thestopper portion 21 and threadedly engaged with the inner threadedportion 121. - With reference to
FIG. 2 , in use, the outer threadedportion 22 of thefixing member 2 extends through anaxial hole 31 of anabrasive member 3. Then, the outer threadedportion 22 of thefixing member 2 is threadedly engaged with the inner threadedportion 121 of the body 1, such that abottom face 131 of thecylindrical portion 13 of the body 1 and thetop face 211 of thestopper portion 21 of thefixing member 2 together clamp anupper face 32 and alower face 33 of theabrasive member 3, thereby securely fixing theabrasive member 3 and the body 1 together. - Since the abrasive member 1 and the body 1 are securely fixed as a single member and since the body 1 includes a connecting
portion 11 having polygonal cross sections, the present invention can be coupled with an electric or pneumatic grinding tool having a three jaw chuck but no shafts. This effectively solves the disadvantages of conventional abrasive members and is ideal. The structure is hitherto unknown and novel and provides an effect that cannot be achieved by conventional abrasive members. The present invention is inventive and has a simple structure with industrial applicability. - Although specific embodiments have been illustrated and described, numerous modifications and variations are still possible without departing from the scope of the invention. The scope of the invention is limited by the accompanying claims.
