A knob is coupled to the first end of the rod. A pin is positioned in the rod proximate to the second end. The pin has opposing ends that extend from an outer surface of the rod. The female coupler comprises a tube that has a first terminus and a second terminus. The tube is hollow and complimentary to the rod. A button is coupled to the first terminus of the tube. A pair of slots, complimentary to the pin, is opposingly positioned in a wall of the tube. The slots extend from the second terminus to proximate to the first terminus. Each slot has a channel that extends transversely from a respective bottom of the slot.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a two-piece tarp fastener device according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an isometric perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a detail view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new fastener device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the two-piecetarp fastener device 10 generally comprises amale coupler 12. Themale coupler 12 comprises arod 14 that has afirst end 16 and asecond end 18. Therod 14 is solid and circular when viewed longitudinally. Aknob 20 is coupled to thefirst end 16 of therod 14. Theknob 20 comprises afirst disc 22 that has arounded edge 24 and a flatupper surface 26. Apin 28 is positioned in therod 14 proximate to thesecond end 18. Thepin 28 has opposingends 30 that extend from anouter surface 31 of therod 14. Thepin 28 is circular when viewed longitudinally. - The
device 10 also includes afemale coupler 32. Thefemale coupler 32 comprises atube 34 that has afirst terminus 36 and asecond terminus 38. Thetube 34 is hollow and complimentary to therod 14. Thetube 34 is circular when viewed longitudinally, such that therod 14 is insertable into thetube 34. Thetube 34 is insertable through at least two overlapping eyelets positioned in the user's tarps. Abutton 40 is coupled to thefirst terminus 36 of thetube 34. Thebutton 40 comprises asecond disc 42 that has arounded perimeter 44 and aflat top 46. A pair ofslots 48, complimentary to thepin 28 is opposingly positioned in awall 50 of thetube 34. Theslots 48 extend from thesecond terminus 38 to proximate to thefirst terminus 36. Each theslot 48 has achannel 52 that extends transversely from arespective bottom 54 of theslot 48. Thechannels 52 extend clockwise, such that theslots 48 are L-shaped and such that thepin 28 is frictionally engagable to thechannels 52 upon clockwise rotation of therod 14 relative to thetube 34. - The
first disc 22 and thesecond disc 42 are substantially similarly shaped and dimensioned. - In use, each of a plurality of
female couplers 56 is positionable with thetube 34 inserted into at least two overlapping eyelets of the user's tarps. Each of a plurality ofmale couplers 58 has arespective rod 14 insertable into arespective tube 34, such that the user can impart a clockwise twisting motion to secure arespective pin 28 into arespective channel 52 to secure two or more tarps together. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
