Abstract

An improved design for men's underwear is described. Comfort for the wearer is increased by preventing the underwear from bunching up in the buttocks and preventing irritation of the scrotum area due to underwear seams rubbing against skin. Features that provide such comfort include a seamless crotch area made of microfiber, cotton leggings and elastic material bands attached to the back section of the underwear to prevent wedging of the underwear.

Description

    FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
  • This present invention relates to an improved apparatus for men's underwear. In particular, the present invention relates to men's underwear briefs.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Traditional men's underwear briefs include a prominent elastic waistband that sits at the waist, a Y-shaped front fly, about four inches of fabric that covers everything from the waist to the upper thighs, and full coverage of the buttocks. Men's underwear briefs generally provide support for the genitals of the wearer and are preferred for jobs that require sitting down all day or for physical activities.
  • Nevertheless, traditional men's underwear briefs may have disadvantages for the wearer. In particular, traditional briefs may ride up or bunch up in the thigh, groin and buttock areas causing discomfort for the wearer.
  • Accordingly, there is a need for an improved men's underwear brief design that minimizes and prevent “riding up” or “bunching up” and provides greater comfort for the wearer.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
  • The accompanying figures, where like reference numerals refer to identical or functionally similar elements throughout the separate views, together with the detailed description below, are incorporated in and form part of the specification, and serve to further illustrate embodiments of concepts that include the claimed invention, and explain various principles and advantages of those embodiments.
  • FIG. 1 is a ¾ front perspective view of the men's underwear in accordance with the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a ¾ rear perspective view of the men's underwear in accordance with the present invention.
  • Skilled artisans will appreciate that elements in the figures are illustrated for simplicity and clarity and have not necessarily been drawn to scale. For example, the dimensions of some of the elements in the figures may be exaggerated relative to other elements to help to improve understanding of embodiments of the present invention.
  • The apparatus and method components have been represented where appropriate by conventional symbols in the drawings, showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present invention so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the description herein.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present invention accomplishes comfort for the wearer by preventing the underwear from bunching up in the buttocks and preventing irritation of the scrotum area due to underwear seams rubbing against skin
  • Turning to FIG. 1, shown is a front view 1 of the men's underwear. On the top of the underwear is an elastic waistband 20 that surrounds the waist or hips area of the wearer. The middle section of the underwear includes a left portion 35, right portion 30 and middle front portion 40. The left portion 35 extends downward and ends at a left legging 50 that ends at or near the groin for the left leg. The right portion 30 extends downward and ends at a right legging 60 that ends at or near the groin for the right leg. The middle front portion 40 extends downward over the wearer's genitals and ends at the crotch area 70.
  • Turning to FIG. 2, shown is a rear view 2 of the men's underwear. On the top of the underwear is an elastic waistband 20 that surrounds the waist or hips area of the wearer. The middle section of the underwear includes a left portion 35 (shown on the right side since this is a rear view), right portion 30 (shown on the left side since this is a rear view) and middle back portion 80. The left portion 35 extends downward covering the outer right buttock and ends at a left legging 50 (shown on the right side since this is a rear view) that ends at or near the groin for the left leg. The right portion 30 extends downward covering the outer left buttock and ends at a right legging 60 (shown on the left side since this is a rear view) that ends at or near the groin for the right leg. The middle back portion 40 extends downward covering the inner left buttock and inner right buttock and ends at the crotch area 70. An upper elastic material band 90 and a lower elastic material band 100 are sown across the middle back portion 40.
  • The comfort level for the wearer is increased based on one or more of the following features:
  • 1. The crotch area 70 is seamless, both on the inside and outside of the underwear and may be comprised of microfiber. This provides maximum comfort for the wearer because the microfiber provides a comfortable covering for the wearer's genitals and because the lack of seams minimizes discomfort due to chafing between the genitals and the crotch area 70. Microfiber is synthetic fiber generally finer than one denier or decitex/thread. This is smaller than the diameter of a strand of silk, which is itself about ⅕ the diameter of a human hair. The most common types of microfibers are made from polyesters, polyamides (e.g., nylon, Kevlar, Nomex, trogamide), or a conjugation of polyester, polyamide, and polypropylene (Prolen). Microfiber increases comfort because it wicks perspiration away from the skin surface, which keeps the skin drier.
  • 2. The left legging 50 and right legging 60 may be comprised of cotton. Cotton increases comfort for the user.
  • 3. The upper elastic material band 90 and a lower elastic material band 100 may be sown or otherwise attached to the middle back portion 80 to prevent wedging of the middle back portion 80 in between the buttocks of the wearer. This increase comfort because it prevents from the underwear from “bunching up” and prevents an unwanted “wedgie” effect.
  • In the foregoing specification, specific embodiments have been described. However, one of ordinary skill in the art appreciates that various modifications and changes can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the claims below. Accordingly, the specification and figures are to be regarded in an illustrative rather than a restrictive sense, and all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of present teachings.
  • The benefits, advantages, solutions to problems, and any element(s) that may cause any benefit, advantage, or solution to occur or become more pronounced are not to be construed as a critical, required, or essential features or elements of any or all the claims.
