A garment weight that includes a first magnetic component and a second magnetic component, the first magnetic component is separable from the second magnetic component, the first and second magnetic components are operably magnetically aligned and positioned on opposite sides of a garments' material where the first and second magnetic components magnetically connect to one another to prevent the garment from lifting due to wind.
Description
- This application is related to and claims benefit to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 62/222,149, filed Sep. 22, 2015, entitled Dress Defenders, the entirety of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- The present invention relates to garment weights, and more particularly to a garment weight assemblage for preventing light weighted garments from being involuntarily lifted by wind.
- One method to keep garments in place is through the use of garter belts. The drawback of garter belts is that they are uncomfortable; as they are tightly attached to ones leg. Garter belts are noticeable and therefore lose the sophistication one would want to obtain when attending formal outdoor events, such as weddings.
- There has been some attention given to wearable magnets in order to add embellishments to clothing. The drawback of these products are that they do not add the weight desired to keep ones garment from being lifted which can lead to unwanted exposure and embarrassment. They are also previously used for decorative purposes and do not try to blend in with ones clothing.
- The present invention advantageously provides a garment weight assemblage. One non-limiting embodiment provides a set of four weighted wearable magnetic devices, which can be placed on the bottom portions of a garment to prevent the garment from rising upwards due to wind. With regard to the present invention, the term garment refers to dresses, skirts, long tops, and like items. In each of the four weighted wearable magnetic device include a first magnetic component separable from a second magnetic component. The first and second magnetic components are magnetically aligned and positioned on opposite sides of the garments' material where the first and second magnetic components magnetically connect to one another.
- Each of the first magnetic components are positioned about the outside of the garment and each of the second magnetic components are positioned about the inside of the garment. The first magnetic components include a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portions of each first magnetic component are viewable on the outside of the garment, and each top portion includes an outer body, in a non-limiting example the outer body may be a plastic button. The bottom portion comprises a magnet, in a non-limiting example the magnet may be a neodymium magnet.
- Each of the second magnetic components, the components underneath the garment, include a top portion and a bottom portion. The second magnetic components comprises a magnet and a weight member, in non-limiting examples the magnet may be a neodymium magnet and the weight member may be a classic mosaic tile.
- Each of the first magnetic components may be implemented with a variety of different colors on the top portion to blend each of the top portions into each individual garment and not be easily noticed.
- According to an embodiment of the present invention, an object is to provide each garment weight assemblage set placeable on the bottom portions of the front, back, right side, and left side of the garment to keep the garment in place during events and/or times where wind exposure may be present.
- According to an embodiment of the present invention, an object is to provide a method of garment weight assemblage attachment to a garment by instructing a user to secure the first magnetic component to an outside of a garment and to instruct a user to secure the second magnetic component to an inside of a garment, and additionally instructing the user to secure via a magnetically removable assemblage of at least four garment weights about the lower edge of a garment.
