Abstract

The invention is concerned with enabling storage and temperature control of food product, such as pizza, as well as other personal products requiring temporary cool storage, such as medications, in a personal garment while wearing said garment. While there exist many products for storing and maintaining the temperature of hot or cold products during transportation, such as insulated bags, there is presently no temperature controlled, storage-enabled garment. Through use of the present invention, it is now possible for a person to cleanly store temperature-controlled food and other products in a wearable garment.

  • Not applicable.
  • BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention is concerned with enabling storage and temperature control of food product, such as pizza, as well as other personal products requiring temporary cool storage, such as medications, in a personal garment while wearing said garment. While there exist many products for storing and maintaining the temperature of hot or cold food or other products during transportation, such as insulated bags, there is presently no temperature maintaining storage-enabled garment.
  • The need for such product is simple: there are times when one prepares or purchases food, such as hot pizza, that they do not intend to eat at that moment but want to be able to enjoy when they are ready. Having the ability to cleanly store a hot slice of pizza in one's clothing eliminates the need to carry the food around in a container, which one might not wish to carry around once the food is consumed, or in disposable materials, which creates waste. Carrying such items is especially inconvenient for those who do not generally use a purse or other bag.
  • The sum of these advantages unify with a novel product that has never before been created or anticipated. These, together with other objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty characterizing the invention, are described with particularity in the claims herewith. A more comprehensive understanding of the features, operation and uses of the invention may be gleaned from reference to the enclosed drawings and descriptive matter further illustrating the preferred embodiments of the invention.
  • The embodiments described herein are illustrative of the invention, and it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description and drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. It should be further understood that the phraseology and terminology applied herein merely serve the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows the front view of one embodiment of the food storage garment with the zipper closure of the pocket in closed position.
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view one embodiment of the food storage garment with the pocket zipper in open position and with the food storage pouch containing a slice of pizza being inserted into the pocket.
  • FIGS. 3A-C show one embodiment of the food storage pouch in open position, open position with a slice of pizza being inserted into the pouch, and in closed position, respectively.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • In accordance with this invention, it is now possible for a person to cleanly store temperature-controlled food or products in a wearable garment. The embodiment illustrated in the figures and corresponding description below is for the storage of a slice of pizza in a sweatshirt pocket. This embodiment includes an insulating unit that consists of a pocket and a pouch where the pouch is removable, however, the insulating unit could just as easily and effectively be a single, irremovable insulated unit.
  • FIG. 1 shows the front view of one embodiment of the food storage garment with the zipper closure of the pocket in closed position. In this embodiment, the garment is a sweatshirt 1. The sweatshirt pocket 2 is sewn onto the outside of the sweatshirt 1 in this embodiment, and the zipper closure 3, which enables access to the pocket, is shown near the top of the pocket 2. Here, the pocket is triangular to accommodate storage of a slice of pizza, but the pocket could be any size or shape to accommodate the type and volume of food intended to be stored therein. Likewise, the pocket closure in this embodiment is a conventional zipper, but the pocket could be closed with, for example, Velcro or buttons, or even left open if desired. The placement of the pocket in the depicted embodiment is on the outside of the sweatshirt, but the pocket could just as well be sewn onto the inside of the sweatshirt, in which case the zipper closure would be on the sweatshirt—and not on the pocket—as to enable access to the pocket from outside the sweatshirt.
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view one embodiment of the food storage garment with the pocket zipper in open position and with the insulated food storage pouch containing a partially inserted slice of pizza being inserted into the pocket. Here, the zipper closure 3 of the pocket is open and the insulated food storage pouch 4 containing a slice of pizza 5 is being inserted into the sweatshirt pocket 2.
  • FIGS. 3A-C show one embodiment of the food storage pouch in open position, open position with a slice of pizza being inserted into the pouch, and in closed position, respectively. FIG. 3A shows the pouch 4, which is connected to the pouch flap 7, in open position to enable receiving a slice of pizza. Visible are the complimentary Velcro pouch closure 6 and Velcro pouch flap closure 8. FIG. 3B shows the pouch 4 and pouch flap 7 in open position with a slice of pizza 5 being inserted into the pouch 4. FIG. 3C depicts the pouch 4 and pouch flap 7 in closed position. In use, the user would insert a slice of pizza, per this particular embodiment, into the pouch and fold the pouch flap over the pouch opening, securing the flap to the pouch via interaction between the complimentary Velcro closures. When the pouch is not in use, it can be cleaned, dried and stored inside the garment pocket or elsewhere. While the type of insulating material comprising the pouch can vary, the material must be waterproof and cleanable, or the inside of the pouch, which touches the food, must have a waterproof and cleanable surface (e.g., a plastic lining inside the insulating material).
  • As to further discussion of the manner of usage and operation of the present invention, the same should be apparent from the above description. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of this invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention, the use of which results in a novel food storage garment.
  • Although the description presented heretofore contains specificities for the benefit of illustration, these should not be construed as limiting the scope of the embodiments but rather as illustrative examples of some of the several embodiments. For example, the garment could be a sweatshirt, t-shirt or other wearable garment, and the size and shape of the pocket and inner pouch could vary depending on the intended use. Thus, the scope of the embodiments should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents rather than by the examples provided.
