Description
- Field of the Disclosure
- The disclosure relates to gutter devices and more particularly pertains to a new gutter device for selectively releasing debris from the gutter.
- Summary of the Disclosure
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a gutter that may be attached to an eave of a roof thereby facilitating the gutter to capture a fluid from the roof. The gutter has a bottom side and the bottom side is positionable in an open position. Thus, the bottom side releases debris from the gutter thereby facilitating the gutter to be cleaned of the debris. A cord is attached to the bottom side such that the cord may be urged downwardly thereby positioning the bottom side in the open position.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a gutter assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a rear view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a left view of an embodiment of the disclosure in a closed position. -
FIG. 5 is a left view of an embodiment of the disclosure in an open position. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new gutter device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , thegutter assembly 10 generally comprises agutter 12 that has afirst end 14, asecond end 16 and aperipheral wall 18 extending between thefirst end 14 and thesecond end 16. Theperipheral wall 18 has arear side 20, afront side 22 and abottom side 24. Therear side 20 has abottom edge 26 and arear surface 28 and thefront side 22 has aback surface 30. The front side and the rear side are spaced apart such that thegutter 12 may receive afluid 32 and thefluid 32 may be water. Thesecond end 16 is open such that thesecond end 16 may release thefluid 32 from thegutter 12. Thegutter 12 may be attached to aneave 34 of aroof 36 thereby facilitating thegutter 12 to capture thefluid 32 from the roof and thegutter 12 may have any ornamental appearance. - The
bottom side 24 has afirst edge 38 and asecond edge 40 and ahinge 42 is coupled between thefirst edge 38 and thebottom edge 26 of therear side 20. Thus, thefirst edge 38 is hingedly coupled to thebottom edge 26. Thebottom side 24 is positionable in a closed position having thebottom side 24 extending between therear side 20 and thefront side 22. Thesecond edge 40 engages theback surface 30 of thefront side 22 when thebottom side 24 is positioned in the closed position. Thus, thesecond edge 40 forms a fluid impermeable seal with theback surface 30 thereby facilitating thebottom side 24 to retain thefluid 32 within thegutter 12. - The
bottom side 24 is positionable in an open position having thebottom side 24 extending downwardly from therear side 20. Thus, thebottom side 24 may releasedebris 44 that has collected ingutter 12 thereby facilitating thedebris 44 to be cleaned from thegutter 12. Thedebris 44 may be leaves, twigs or other material that becomes deposited on theroof 36. Thehinge 42 may be a spring loaded hinge or the like such that thebottom side 24 is biased into the closed position. - A plurality of
fasteners 46 is provided. Each of thefasteners 46 has afirst section 48 extending downwardly from acentral section 50 and asecond section 52 extending upwardly from thecentral section 50. Thefirst section 48 is spaced from thesecond section 52 and thefirst section 48 of each of the fasteners is attached to therear surface 28 of therear side 20. Thus, thesecond section 52 of each of thefasteners 46 may engage theeave 34 of theroof 36 thereby retaining thegutter 12 on theroof 36. Thefasteners 46 are spaced apart from each other and distributed between thefirst end 14 and thesecond end 16. - A
cord 54 is attached to thebottom side 24 such that thecord 54 may be urged downwardly thereby positioning thebottom side 24 in the open position. Thecord 54 has adistal end 56 with respect to thebottom side 24 and thedistal end 56 has agrip 58 that is attached thereto. Thegrip 58 enhances gripping of thecord 54. - In use, the
grip 58 on thecord 54 is gripped and thecord 54 is urged downwardly to position thebottom side 24 in the open position. Thus, anydebris 44 that has collected in thegutter 12 is released from thegutter 12 without the need to mount theroof 36 and manually remove thedebris 44 from thegutter 12. Thecord 54 is released and thehinge 42 biases thebottom side 24 into the closed position. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.
- A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
