Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of Korean Application No. 10-2013-0122461, filed on Oct. 15, 2013 with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a mascara and, snore particularly, to a mascara having a brush and guide ribs spaced with predetermined intervals.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • In general, a mascara, which is a tool for women to make up their eyelashes, is a cosmetic for darkening eyelashes so that the outline of eyes can be clearly defined by making the eyelashes smooth and clear.
  • A mascara is usually applied to eyelashes as follows.
  • First, as a method of applying a mascara to upper eyelashes, a user puts an appropriate amount of mascara on a brush, puts the mascara onto upper eyelashes by stroking the upper sides of the tipper eyelashes with the brush from the roots with his/her eyes down, and then rolling the brush up under the upper eyelashes.
  • If a user hits eyelashes up with a brush in a zigzag pattern, the eyelashes are further thickened. Further, as a method of applying a mascara to lower eyelashes, a user puts a mascara onto lower eyelashes by moving them to the left and right with a brush held vertically and then applying it along the lines of the lower eyelashes. If a user wants to make the eyelashes thicker, he/she can put the mascara delicately onto each eyelash.
  • Mascaras that are used for the purposes in this way generally has a structure including a container keeping a make-up and a lid closing the container and holding a brush, and users generally use these mascaras in a way of putting an appropriate amount of make-up onto the brush and then applying it by rolling the brush.
  • That is, the brush for making up eyelashes are classified into a brush formed by spirally winding brush hairs around two metal cores having a predetermined length at a side of a handle and a rubber blade made of rubber to have continuous ridges and grooves at a side of a handle. Recently, a mascara brush made of rubber which is given only the advantages of the nylon brush hairs and the rubber blade by forming a brush in an elastic needle shape using rubber has been used.
  • In particular, users of the mascara combine or separate the container body and the handle, put a mascara substance onto the brush, and then apply it to eyelashes for volume (emphasizing eyelashes), curling (rolling up ends of eyelashes), long lash (ranking eyelash look long), and clean (preventing eyelashes from gathering).

  • Further, unless explicitly described otherwise, “comprising” any components will be understood to imply the inclusion of other components rather than the exclusion of any other components.
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a mascara according to a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a view showing use of the mascara shown in FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of FIG. 1.
  • As show in the figures, a mascara according to this embodiment includes a housing 10 keeping a mascara substance for makeup and a brush assembly 20 separably coupled to the housing 10 and having a brush 27 to put the mascara substance on.
  • A housing thread 12 for coupling to the brush assembly 20 is formed at the upper portion of the housing 10.
  • The brush assembly 20 includes a brush body 22 coupled to the housing thread 12 to close the housing 10, a brush bar 24 coupled to the brush body 22 and inserted in the housing 10, a brush member 25 coupled to the brush bar 24 to put the mascara substance on it, and a brush guard 30 mounted on the brush bar 24 and surrounding the brush member 25 with a predetermined gap therebetween.
  • A brush body thread (not shown) corresponding to the housing thread 12 is formed on the inner side of the brush body 22.
  • The brush bar 24 extends from the brush body 22 and is combined with the brush member 25 at the end.
  • The brush member 25 is disposed at the end of the brush body 22 and may be fixed to or rotated on the brush body 22.
  • The brush member 25 is inserted into the housing 10 to put the mascara substance on the surface.
  • The brush member 25 includes a brush bone 26 fixed to the brush bar 24 and a brush 27 fixed to the brush bone 26 to put the mascara substance on it.
  • The brush bone 26 is formed by twisting metal and the brush 27 is inserted and radially arranged in the process of manufacturing the brush bone 26.
  • The brush guard 30 includes a guard frame 32 fixed to the brush bar 24 and guards 34 extending from the guard frame 32 at a predetermined distance from the brush member 25.
  • The guard frame 32 may be fixed to the brush member 25 or the brush bar 24, but in this embodiment, it is fixed to the brush bar 24.
  • The brush member 25 is also fixed to the brush bar 24 and may be directly coupled to the brush bar 24, but in this embodiment, it is coupled to the guard frame 32 and then fixed to the brush bar 24.
  • The guards 34 are formed in the rotational direction of the brush 27 and a plurality of guards 34 are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the guard frame 32.
  • The guards 34 may be used as the teeth of a comb when the mascara is used.
  • Further, when the brush member 25 is rolled, the mascara substance gathering on the brush 27 is filtered by the guards 34, so it can be prevented from being directly applied to the user's eyelashes.
  • Further, the guards 34 are disposed around the brush 27, so they prevent dirt from coming in contact with the brush 27.
  • As described above, the guards 34 can prevent the mascara substance from gathering and block dirt.
  • In this embodiment, the brush guard 30 cover a half the brush member 25 and the guards 34 may be arranged across the longitudinal direction of the brush member 25.
  • Brush seats 32 a and 32 b are formed at the upper end and the lower end of the guard frame 32 so that the brush bone 26 can be fitted therein.
  • In particular, the brush seat 32 b at the lower end is inserted in the brush bar 24 in this embodiment.
  • According to this configuration, if the brush member 25 or the brush guard 30 is damaged, it is possible to separate and replace only the assembly of the brush member 25 and the brush guard 30 from the brush bar 24.
  • In particular, since the lengths of the eyelashes of users are different, a user who has eyelashes shorter or longer than most peoples can replace only the assembly of the brush member 25 and the brush guard 30.
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a mascara according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
  • As shown in the figure, in the mascara according to this embodiment, guards 35 are attached to the brush bone 28, unlike the first embodiment.
  • Although the brush member 25 is formed in a cylindrical shape in the first embodiment, the brush member 29 according to the second embodiment includes a brush bone 28 fixed to a brush bar 24 and a brush 27 arranged to a side from the brush bone 28.
  • The brush guard includes guards 34 extending from the brush bone 28 at a predetermined distance from the brush 27.
  • In particular, the plurality of the guards 34 may be formed only on a side of the brush bone 28.
  • The other configuration is the same as that of the first embodiment, so it is not described in detail.
  • Although exemplary embodiments of the present invention were described above with reference to the accompanying drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto and those skilled in the art would understand that the present invention may be implemented in various ways without changing the necessary features or the spirit of the prevent invention. Therefore, it should be understood that the exemplary embodiments are not limiting but illustrative in all aspects.
