Abstract

A foldable bed framework structure includes two longitudinal rods, three transverse rods and a plurality of leg stands. Each of the transverse rods further has axial holes formed on at least two end portions thereof and passing through side walls thereof. The leg stands are disposed correspondingly to the axial holes. Each of the leg stands is defined as a U-shaped rod with an opening open on one side. Two ear plates with respective pivot apertures are formed on a top of each leg stand. The two ear plates are pivotally connected to the axial holes of the transverse rods. This foldable bed framework structure can be folded into a minimum size to facilitate the packing and the transportation thereof.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • (a) Technical Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to a bed framework and relates particularly to a foldable bed framework structure.
  • (b) Description of the Prior Art
  • As illustrated in FIGS. 1-2, a typical foldable bed framework comprises two pairs of longitudinal beams 10, three pairs of transverse beams 20 and a plurality of leg stands 30. Each pair of longitudinal beams 10 has two longitudinal rods 101 pivotally connected to each other by using a U-shaped pivotal part 40. U-shaped pivot units 50 are respectively disposed on a lateral inner side of the two longitudinal rods 101 of the two pairs of longitudinal beams 10. Openings of the two pairs of pivot units 50 are oppositely disposed. The leg stands 30, located on an inner side of each of the pivot units 50, are unidirectionally and pivotally connected to a lower part of each of the longitudinal rods 101 by using a first pivotal unit 60. Each pair of transverse beams 20 has two sections of transverse rods 201 pivotally connected together by using a second pivotal unit 70. Each of the transverse rods 201 of two pairs of transverse beams 20 located at a front end and a rear end of the bed framework are respectively and pivotally connected to the pivot units 50. The two sections of transverse rods 201 of the other pair of transverse beams 20 located on a middle portion of the bed framework are fixed to a bottom of the pivotal parts 40 of the two pairs of longitudinal beams 10. Furthermore, a lower part of the two sections of transverse rods 201 of the pair of transverse beam 20 on the middle portion is unidirectionally and pivotally connected to the leg stands 30 by using the L-shaped pivotal units 60.
  • To fold the metal bed framework, the four leg stands 30 disposed on the longitudinal rods 101 are firstly put against a lower side of each longitudinal rod 101, and the two leg stands 30 disposed on the transverse rods 201 are put against a lower side of each transverse rod 201. Then, the two transverse rods 201 of the three pairs of transverse beams 20 are folded downwards toward a lower part of the bed framework to abut against each other, and concurrently the two pairs of the longitudinal beams 10 are placed side by side. Thereafter, the transverse rods 201 at two ends of each of the transverse beams 10 are bended toward the longitudinal rods 101 to abut against each other on an inner side of each longitudinal rod 101. Finally, the two longitudinal rods 101 of each longitudinal beam 10 are lifted toward an upper part of the bed framework so that they can be held with each other. Therefore, all components of the bed framework are folded together to complete a folding process of the whole bed framework, as illustrated in FIG. 2.
  • The foldable bed framework may fold the components into a dense configuration, and such folded configuration can occupy less space and increase the transporting quantity of the bed framework. However, there are still following disadvantages.
  • Firstly, the foldable bed framework has numerous rods and needs many processes for folding and unfolding. Hence, the assembling operation of the bed framework takes lots of time and effort.
  • Secondly, the structure becomes more complicated as the foldable bed framework contains numerous joint components. The foldable bed framework comprises two pivotal parts 40 for connecting the longitudinal rods 101, two second pivotal units 70 for connecting the transverse rods 201, four pivot units 50 for connecting the longitudinal rods 101 to the transverse rods 201, and a plurality of first pivotal units 60 pivotally connected to the leg stands 30. As the abovementioned components have different structures and need to be individually molded and formed for production, the cost of the production is higher, and the cost of the whole bed framework is also increased. Additionally, the numerous joint components may incur the situation of missing the components easily.
  • Third, each leg stand 30 abuts against the longitudinal rod 101 or the transverse rod 201 after the leg stand is folded, so a gap defined by a width of two leg stands 30 is left between the two transverse rods 201 or the two longitudinal rods 101 after the rods are all folded. Thus, the bed framework cannot be folded to a minimum size.
  • Accordingly, the inventor has done further research with regard to the disadvantages of the abovementioned foldable bed framework structure and invents this invention with better improvement.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An object of this invention is to provide a foldable bed framework with a simple structure and with each rod component capable of being folded to a minimum size, thereby allowing the folded framework to occupy less space and attaining the effect of packing and transporting conveniently.
  • To achieve the aforementioned object, a foldable bed framework structure in accordance with this invention comprises two longitudinal rods parallel to each other, three transverse rods parallel to one another and perpendicular to the longitudinal rods, and a plurality of leg stands disposed at a bottom of the transverse rods. Each of the longitudinal rods forms respective pivot holes for connecting the three transverse rods. Each of the transverse rods has joint holes penetrating from a top to a bottom thereof and disposed in alignment with the pivot holes respectively. Each of the transverse rods has axial holes formed on at least two end portions thereof and passing through side walls thereof. The leg stands are corresponding to the axial holes of the transverse rods. Each of the leg stands is defined as a U-shaped rod with an opening open on one side. Two ear plates with respective pivot apertures are formed on a top portion of each leg stand. The two ear plates are pivotally connected to the axial holes of the transverse rods.
  • Preferably, the pivot holes of the longitudinal rod include a first pivot hole and a second pivot hole defined at each end of each of the longitudinal rods, and a third pivot hole defined on a middle portion thereof. The three transverse rods include two outer transverse rods connected to an end portion of the longitudinal rods and an inner transverse rod connected to the middle portion of the two longitudinal rods. Two ends of each of the two outer transverse rods form the joint holes respectively corresponding to the first pivot holes. Two ends of the inner transverse rod include another joint holes respectively corresponding to the third pivot holes. A joint plate with a pivot orifice projects outwards from a top end of one of the two ear plates of each of the leg stands pivotally connected to the two ends of the two outer transverse rods. The pivot orifice of the joint plate is corresponding to the second pivot hole of the longitudinal rod.
  • Preferably, a certain distance is formed between the bottom of the transverse rods and a bottom of the two ear plates of the leg stands pivotally connected to two ends of each of the outer transverse rods. A support structure in a form of a “

  • Preferably, the joint plates disposed on two non-adjacent leg stands of the four leg stands with the joint plates include a U-shaped mouth which communicates with an outside through the pivot orifice.
  • Preferably, the openings of the U-shaped leg stands at the two ends of each of the transverse rods are oppositely disposed. The U-shaped leg stands are pivotally connected to a middle portion of the transverse rods. The openings of the U-shaped leg stands pivotally connected to the middle portion of the transverse rods can direct toward any of the longitudinal rods.
  • Preferably, the longitudinal rod includes a bottom plate and an upright plate defined as an L-shaped welding plate. The pivot holes are defined on the bottom plate.
  • Preferably, openings of the two longitudinal rods are oppositely disposed. Two pivot through holes are defined on a same end of the upright plates of the two longitudinal rods. The two pivot through holes of each of the upright plates are adapted to connect an L-shaped bed head plate.
  • Preferably, the aforementioned joint hole of the inner transverse rod and the third pivot hole of the longitudinal rod are fastened with a wing nut. The second pivot hole of the longitudinal rod and the pivot orifice of the joint plate of the leg stand are fastened with another wing nut.
  • Preferably, a sleeve is disposed on a bottom of the leg stand.
  • By comparison with the typical foldable bed framework, this invention adopting the above structure has following advantages.
  • Firstly, the leg stands are designed into a U-shaped form to allow each leg stand to hold and clasp the transverse rod at the time of folding the bed framework. Thus, the bed framework is folded into a minimum size.
  • Secondly, this invention, including two longitudinal rods, three transverse rods and a plurality of leg stands pivotally connected to the transverse rod, can have a simple structure with rod components obviously fewer than the components of the typical bed framework. Therefore, the unfolding and folding processes are reduced to save more time and effort in comparison with the typical structure. The reduction in the number of rod components reduces the use of rod joint accessories, so the whole cost of the bed framework can be largely decreased.
  • Third, this invention adopts fewer rod components to attain a smaller folded volume. This invention which uses the leg stands to hold the transverse rods directly can also attain a much smaller folded volume simultaneously with the convenient packing and transportation.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The advantages and the structure of this invention are further described in conjunction with accompanying drawings.
  • FIGS. 3-6 show a preferred embodiment of this invention. Referring to FIG. 3, a foldable bed framework structure of the preferred embodiment includes two longitudinal rods 1 parallel to each other, three transverse rods 2 parallel to one another and perpendicular to the longitudinal rods 1, and a plurality of leg stands 3 disposed at a bottom of the transverse rods 2.
  • Each of the two longitudinal rods 1 include a bottom plate 11 and an upright plate 12 defined as an L-shaped welding plate. The two longitudinal rods 1 define openings which are oppositely disposed. A mattress or a bed board can be placed between the two longitudinal rods 1. The bottom plate 11 is adapted to support the mattress or the bed board, and the upright plate 12 is adapted to prevent the mattress or the bed board from displacing. Two pivot through holes 13 are disposed on a same end portion of the two upright plates 12. The two pivot through holes 13 of each upright plate 12 are used to connect an L-shaped bed head plate 4. Screws passing through the pivot holes 13 fix one end of the bed head plate 4 to the upright plate 12. The other end of the bed head plate 4 is set perpendicularly to the bottom plate 11 and directed toward the bottom plate 11. A first pivot hole 14 and a second pivot hole 15 are defined at two respective ends of the bottom plate 11 of each longitudinal rod 1, and a third pivot hole 16 is defined on a middle portion of the bottom plate 11.
  • The three transverse rods 2 include two outer transverse rods 21 which are connected to an end portion of the two longitudinal rods 2 and an inner transverse 22 which is connected to a middle portion of the two longitudinal rods 2. Two ends of each transverse rod 2 form joint holes 211, 221 penetrating from a top through a bottom thereof. Two ends and a middle portion of each outer transverse rod 21 form axial holes 212 passing through side walls thereof. Two ends of each inner transverse rod 22 form symmetrical axial holes 222 passing through two side walls thereof.
  • The leg stands 3 are disposed correspondingly to the axial holes 212, 222 respectively defined on the outer transverse rods 21 and the inner transverse rod 22. Each leg stand 3 is a U-shaped rod with an opening 31 open on one side. Two ear plates 32 with respective pivot apertures are formed on a top portion of the leg stand 3. A space between the two ear plates 32 is formed to hold the transverse rod 2. The two ear plates 32 are pivotally connected to the transverse rods 2 with fasteners. The openings 31 of the U-shaped rod pivotally connected to both ends of each transverse rod 2 are oppositely disposed. The openings 31 of the leg stands 3 pivotally connected to the middle portion of the transverse rod 2 can be disposed without limitations. The leg stands 3 respectively disposed at two ends of the two outer transverse rods, namely four leg stands 3 at four corners of the bed framework, have respective joint plates 33, each of which provides a pivot orifice and projects outwards from a top end of one of the two ear plates 32 of the leg stand 3. The joint plates 33 disposed on two non-adjacent leg stands 3 of the four leg stands 3 form a U-shaped mouth 34 which communicates with an outside through the pivot orifice. A sleeve 5 can be disposed on a bottom of each of the leg stands 3.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, to stretch and assemble this invention, three transverse rods 2 are disposed on the bottom of the bottom plates 11 of the two L-shaped longitudinal rods 1. The joint holes 211 at two ends of the outer transverse rods 21 and the first pivot holes 14 of the longitudinal rods 1 are pivotally fastened with rivets and screws. The joint holes 221 at two end of the inner transverse rod and the third pivot holes 16 are fastened with screws and wing nuts 6. The sleeve 5 is disposed on the bottom of each leg stand 3. The four leg stands 3 having the ear plates 32 with the joint plates 33 projecting from the top thereof are disposed at two ends of the two outer transverse rods 21. The two leg stands having the joint plates 33 with respective U-shaped mouths are disposed at diagonal positions of the framework. The two ear plates 32 of the leg stands 3 are pivotally connected to the axial holes 212, 222 of the transverse rods 2 with rivets, respectively. The pivot orifices of the four joint plates and the U-shaped mouths 34 are pivotally connected to the second pivot holes 15 of the longitudinal rods 1 with screws and wing nuts. Furthermore, a certain distance is formed between the bottom of the transverse rods and a bottom of the two ear plates 32 of the leg stands 3 pivotally connected to two ends of the transverse rods 2 so that a support structure in a form of a “

    ” shape can be constructed when the leg stands 3 pivotally connected to two ends of the transverse rods 2 are stretched. Therefore, such support structure performs a triangular base with stability to support the whole bed framework firmly and to prevent the swaying movement of the bed framework incurred by uneven stresses exerted thereon. One end of the bed head plate 4 is fixed to the upright plate by penetrating screws through the pivot holes 13, and the other end thereof is adapted to subject the bottom plate 11 to a stop block. Thus, the unfolding action is completed.
  • Referring to FIGS. 4-6, to fold this invention, the bed head plate 4 is firstly detached from the end portion of the two longitudinal rods 1, then the wing nuts at both ends of the inner transverse rod 22 are unscrewed, and thence the screws are extracted to separate the inner transverse rod 22 from the longitudinal rods 1. Furthermore, the screws and wing nuts on the second pivot hole 15 of each end of the longitudinal rod 1 are unscrewed so that the leg stands 3 can release their limitations to the longitudinal rods 1. Thereafter, the screws, fixed on the end portion of one pair of transverse rods 2 and located at the diagonal positions of the longitudinal rods 1, are unscrewed to separate the two longitudinal rods 1. Therefore, the foldable bed framework is divided into three individual parts, namely the inner transverse rod 22 pivotally connected to the leg stands 3 and two longitudinal rods 1 with the outer transverse rods 21. The transverse rods 2 which use rivets to connect the longitudinal rods 1 pivotally can be rotated toward the longitudinal rods 1 as arrowed in FIG. 4 until the two outer transverse rods 21 having the leg stands 3 pivotally connected thereto abut against the bottom of the respective bottom plates 11 of the respective longitudinal rods 1. Then, the sleeve 5 disposed on the bottom of each of the leg stands 3 is removed. Further, the U-shaped leg stands 3 are rotated toward the transverse rods 2 according to the direction at which respective openings 31 opens until the U-shaped leg stands hold the transverse rods 2. Finally, the three individual parts which are folded can be packed together.
  • By comparison with the typical foldable bed framework, this invention adopting the above structure has following advantages.
  • Firstly, the leg stands are designed into a U-shaped form to allow each leg stand to hold and clasp the transverse rod at the time of folding the bed framework. Thus, the bed framework can be folded into a minimum size.
  • Secondly, this invention, including two longitudinal rods, three transverse rods and a plurality of leg stands pivotally connected to the transverse rod, can have a simple structure with rod components obviously fewer than the components of the typical bed framework. Therefore, the unfolding and folding processes are reduced to save more time and effort in comparison with the typical structure. The reduction in the number of rod components reduces the use of rod joint accessories, so the whole cost of the bed framework can be largely decreased.
  • Third, this invention adopts fewer rod components to attain a smaller folded volume. This invention which uses the leg stands to hold the transverse rods directly can also attain a much smaller folded volume to facilitate the packing and transportation.
  • While the embodiments of this invention are shown and described, it is understood that further variations and modifications may be made without departing from the scope of this invention.

Claims (11)

1: A foldable bed framework structure comprising two longitudinal rods parallel to each other, three transverse rods parallel to one another and perpendicular to said longitudinal rods, and a plurality of leg stands disposed at a bottom of said transverse rods, each of said longitudinal rods forming respective pivot holes for connecting said three transverse rods, each of said transverse rods having joint holes penetrating from a top to a bottom thereof and disposed in alignment with said pivot holes respectively, each of said transverse rods having axial holes formed on at least two end portions thereof and passing through side walls thereof, said plurality of leg stands being disposed correspondingly to said axial holes of said transverse rods, each of said leg stands being a rod having a top and an opposite bottom and sides connected between the top and the bottom with one of the sides being open to define a U-shaped cross-section forming an opening, two ear plates with respective pivot apertures being disposed on the top each of said leg stands, said two ear plates being pivotally connected to said axial holes of said transverse rods;
wherein said leg stands are rotatable with respect to said transverse rods through said ear plates being pivotally connected to said axial holes of said transverse rods between an expanded position where said leg stands are substantially perpendicular to said transverse rods and a collapsed position where the said leg stands substantially overlap said transverse rods by receiving said transverse rods in the openings defined by the U-shaped cross-sections of said leg stands.
2: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of said longitudinal rods includes a bottom plate and an upright plate connected to the bottom plate to define an L-shaped-cross-section, said pivot holes being defined on said bottom plate.
3: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 2, wherein the L-shapes of said two longitudinal rods face each other, said upright plates of said two longitudinal rods are each provided with two pivot through holes to each connect an L-shaped bed head plate.
4: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pivot holes of said longitudinal rod include a first pivot hole and a second pivot hole defined at each end of each of said longitudinal rods, and a third pivot hole defined on a middle portion thereof, said three transverse rods including two outer transverse rods connected to an end portion of said longitudinal rods and an inner transverse rod connected to said middle portion of said two longitudinal rods, two ends of each of said two outer transverse rods forming said joint holes each corresponding to said first pivot hole, two ends of said inner transverse rod including said other joint holes each corresponding to said third pivot hole, a joint plate with a pivot orifice projecting outwards from a top end of one of said two ear plates of each leg stand which is pivotally connected to said two ends of said two outer transverse rods, said pivot orifice of said joint plate being corresponding to said second pivot hole of said longitudinal rod.
5: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein a distance is formed between said bottom of said transverse rods and a bottom of said two ear plates of said leg stands pivotally connected to said two ends of each of said outer transverse rods, such that when said leg stands pivotally connected to said two ends of said transverse rods are at the expanded position, the bottoms of said leg stands are inclined and diverge outward.
6: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 4, wherein said joint plates disposed on two non-adjacent leg stands of said four leg stands each include a U-shaped mouth comprising an opening which extends from said pivot orifice to the outside.
7: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 5, wherein said openings of said leg stands at said two ends of each of said transverse rods are oppositely disposed.
8: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of said longitudinal rods includes a bottom plate and an upright plate connected to the bottom plate to define an L-shaped-cross-section, said pivot holes being defined on said bottom plate.
9: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 8, wherein the L-shapes of said two longitudinal rods face each other, said upright plates of said two longitudinal rods are each provided with two pivot through holes to each connect an L-shaped bed head plate.
10: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 4, wherein said other joint hole of said inner transverse rod and said third pivot hole of said longitudinal rod are fastened with a screw and a wing nut, said second pivot hole of said longitudinal rod and said pivot orifice of said joint plate of said leg stand being fastened with another screw and another wing nut.
11: The foldable bed framework structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein a sleeve is disposed on the bottom of each of said leg stands.
