  • FIG. 6 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing the doors in the opened position.
  • FIG. 7 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure similar to FIG. 6, except that FIG. 7 shows the light being a string of lights.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new model kit assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 7, the model house kit assembly 10 generally comprises a container 12 having a bottom wall 14 and a perimeter wall 16 attached to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall 14. A top edge 18 of the container 12 defines an access opening into an interior 20 of the container 12. A lid 22 is removably coupled to the container 12. The lid 22 is positionable over the top edge 18 and the perimeter wall 16 of the container 12 such that the lid 22 selectively closes the access opening.
  • A plurality of building components 26 is provided to form a toy house 24. The building components 26 are configured to be assembled by a user. The building components 26 are positionable in an assembled state 28 when each of the building components 26 is attached to associated ones of the building components 26. Instead of being used to construct a toy house 24, the building components 26 may vary such that a user could build various-shaped items, including a toy boat, toy bus or the like. The toy house 24 has a size and shape for positioning within the interior 20 of the container 12 when the building components 26 are unassembled. The building components 26 may include a lower wall 30, a plurality of side walls 32, a dividing wall 34, a first door 36, a second door 38, and a plurality of roof segments 40. Each of the building components 26 may be constructed from cardboard or similar material conventionally used to build model houses and may be glued together to form the toy house 24.
  • The lower wall 30 is configured for positioning on a supporting surface. The lower wall 30 includes a front edge 44, a rear edge 46, a first lateral edge 48 and a second lateral edge 50. The side walls 32 are couplable to the lower wall 30. In particular, the side walls 32 are attached to and extend upwardly from the lower wall 30 when the building components 26 are positioned in the assembled state 28. The side walls 32 include a first lateral side wall 52, a second lateral side wall 54 and a rear side wall 56 wherein the first lateral side wall 52 is attachable to the first lateral edge 48, the second lateral side wall 54 is attachable to the second lateral edge 50 and the rear side wall 56 is attachable to the rear edge 46. The dividing wall 34 may be couplable to, and extend between, the first 52 and second 54 lateral side walls when the building components 26 are in the assembled state 28. The dividing wall 34 is positionable in spaced parallel relationship with respect to the lower wall 30. The dividing wall 34 is positionable to extend between each of the rear side wall 56, a front edge 58 of the first lateral side wall 52 and a front edge 60 of the second lateral side wall 54.
  • An opening 62 may extend between the first 52 and second 54 lateral side walls when the toy house 24 is in the assembled state 28. The opening 62 is configured to provide access to an interior of the toy house 24. The first door 36 is pivotally couplable to the toy house 24. An outer edge 64 of the first door 36 is couplable to the front edge 58 of the first lateral side wall 52. The first door 36 is positionable in an opened position 66 to selectively expose the opening 62 when the building components 26 are in the assembled state 28. Similarly, the second door 38 is pivotally couplable to the toy house 24. An outer edge 68 of the second door 38 is couplable to the front edge 60 of the second lateral side wall 54. Thus, the second door 38 is positionable in an opened position 70 to selectively expose the opening 62 when the building components 26 are in the assembled state 28. In this manner, the first 36 and second 38 doors permit the assembly 10 to be opened up and used as a doll house or a display unit. Windows may also be couplable to the toy house 24 and may similarly provide access to an interior of the toy house 24.
  • The plurality of roof segments 40 is couplable to the side walls 32. The roof segments 40 are positionable to form a roof 72 wherein the roof 72 projects upwardly from the side walls 32. The roof segments 40 may include a pair of angled portions 74 and a pair of straight portions 76. The angled portions 74 may be rectangular and the straight portions 76 may be triangular. The straight portions 76 are positionable to extend vertically away from associated ones of the first 52 and second 54 lateral side walls. The angled portions 74 are couplable to the straight portions 76 wherein the angled portions 74 are positionable to extend between the straight portions 76. In this manner, the angled portions 74 slant inwardly toward each other and meet to form an upper edge 78 of the roof 72 when the building components 26 are positioned in the assembled state 28.
  • Decorative openings 42 extend through the toy house 24. The decorative openings 42 may provide a theme for the toy house 24, including a holiday theme, a movie theme or the like. FIG. 2 shows a Christmas theme wherein the decorative openings 42 may be configured to resemble one of an angel 82, roof paneling 84, a star 86 or the like. Each of the side walls 32 and the roof segments 40 comprises an inner panel 85 and an outer panel 87. The inner panels 85 are not coupled to the outer panels 87 until the building components 26 are assembled into the assembled state 28. As shown in FIG. 8, each inner panel 85 is coupled to an associated and complementary one of the outer panels 87 to respectively define each side wall 32 and similarly, each roof segment 40. A plurality of translucent or transparent colored panels 88 is provided. Each of the colored panels 88 is positionable between the inner panel 85 and the outer panel 87 of an associated one of the side walls 32 and the roof segments 40 such that a portion of the translucent colored panel 88 is exposed in the decorative opening 42 in the associated one of said side walls 32 and the roof segments 40.
  • At least one light emitter 90 is positionable within the toy house 24. The light emitter 90 may be one of a plurality of light emitters 90. The light emitters 90 are actuated to an on position to turn on the light emitters 90. In this manner, the light emitters 90 are configured to produce a stained glass effect through the decorative objects 42 when the light emitters 90 are actuated and positioned within the toy house 24. A luminosity of the light emitters 90 may be adjustable. The light emitters 90 may comprise light emitting diodes. As shown in FIG. 7, the light emitters 90 may comprise a string 92 of light emitters 90. A power source 94 is electrically coupled to each of the light emitters 90. The power source 94 may comprise at least one battery 96 or a power cord 98 wherein the power cord 98 has a male plug-in end 100 configured for being inserted into an electrical outlet 102. The light emitters 90 thus allow the assembly 10 to also function as a lamp.
  • In use, as stated above and shown in the Figures, the building components 26 are assembled together using glue, screws or the like in order to construct the toy house 24. The decorative objects 42 are positioned within their respective voids 88 and are retained in place via their respective channels 91. At least one light emitter 90 is positioned within the toy house 24 and is actutated to produce a stained glass effect. The first 36 and second 38 doors are opened to provide access to the interior of the toy house 24. In this manner, the assembly 10 can be used as a lamp, doll house, decorative display or the like.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure.
