H. C. DANNUNZIO TROUSERS Filed Nov. 24, 1955 I N\ IENTOR Patentecl Sept. 24, 1935 FFEQE 2,015,337 TROUSERS Harry C. l )Annunzio, Rochester, N. Y., assignor 1:0 Fashion Park Manufacturing Corperation, Rochester, N. Y., a corporation of New York Application November 24, 1933, Serial No. 699,480
2 Claims.
My nvention relates to an improvement in trousers and its novelty consists in the adaptation end arrangement of parts as Will be more 'fully hereinafter pointed out.
ber Will not stand. the necessary wear in the Waist of a, pair of trousers and also it is a real problem to insure the smooth fitting of such trousers. My trousers solve both of these serious problems furnishing for the first time trousers that combine a. Waist elasticity that will stand the necessary Wear and. at the same time liegflat so as to eflect a. perfect fit.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a pair of trousers embodying my invention With the lower ends broken away for convenience in illustration.
Figure 2 is the same as Figure 1 but Wth the Waist portion distended es in use.
Figure 3 is a. front elevation of the trousers as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a portion of the waist section of the trousers on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
In the drawing 5 s one side of the rear of my trousers and 6 s the other side, Which two sides 5 and 6 are joined. together at the seam I in the usual well known manner. 8 and 9 are the usual seams for fitting in the respective sides 5 and. 6 and. 111 and 11 are the usual type of hip pockets, the pocket having the button 12 engaging the usual buttonhole so as to button this pocket together in a, secure closecl position.
The trousers have outer waistband portions 13 and. 14 each of which are out and. set in on thebias of the material, Which material is the same as that in sections 5 and 6 of the trousers, and they are joned together at the usual seam 15. The upper edges of the rear trouser body elements 5 and. 15 are shirred a.t 16 so that 'as they are secured to the waistband portions 13 and 14 by the usual stitching at 11, sa,d shirring 16 is stitched into position so that as the waistband elements 13 and 1 1 are stretched the shirring 16 Will be taken up so as to eiect the smooth lying of the shirred portions 16 whereby both the waistband elements 13 and 14 and the shirred portions as well as the rest of the rear sections 5 and 6 Will 1ie absolutely flat an-d smooth as clearly shown in Figure 2.
An internal elastc wa.istband 20 is adapted 1:0
be foldec back on itself es clearly shown in Figure 4 and its open eolges stitched ai; 21 to the turned back upper edge of the outer Waistband. members 13 and 141. The middle portion of this elastic internal belt 2% is adapted. to be stitched. at 5 Il around. its entire internal length to the point where the outer belt portions 155 and. 11 are sttchecl to the lower body front portions 19 and 18 and the rear body portions 5 and 15. Thus we see tha.t internal belt member 21, which is 10 adapted to be made of such a desirable elastic material a5 Lastex, is so fastened ancl secured. a.t 11' and. 21 to the outer belt portions 13 and. 14 that it Will stretch wth them as they are adapteol to stretch beca.use of their beng out on the bias 15 of the material of which they are made.
The front sections 18 and. 19 of the trousers have the usual side pockets 22 and. 23 and the overlapping outer belt member 13 has a. buttonhole 2 1 which buttons over button 25 secured 20 to the outer belt member 1 1 and there is the usual fiy construction at 26, and 21 are heavy plats common to this type of sport trouser. 28 are the usual buttons used in fastening the fly 26. 25
It will thus be seen that the shrred. elements 16 are only in the rear portions 5 and 6 of the trousers and. will be so stretched as to flatten out and. fil: snugly a,nd smoothly etgainst the wearer in use as shown in Figure 2. 30
The inner elastic waistbanol member 26 is secured. together ai; 28 at the rear forming the seam in absolute elignment with seam 1 ci the rear trouser elements 5 and 6. This inner elastc belt member 20 runnng around the entire inner fece of the outer belt portions 1% end 14 Will stretch in the front portion of the trousers jcining the belt portions 13 and 1 1 above the front trouser elements I3'and 19 the same as it Will with the rear portions of the outer belt elements 13 and. 14, and said front portions of the outer belt elements 13 and. H1 beng out and set in on the bias wi1l stretch smultaneously With the said inner elastic belt member 2% so that there s a substantial stretching ancl smoothing out of the front portion of the outer belt elements 13 and. 14 vvith the inner elastic belt 29, but there will be a, grealter stretching of the rear portions of the outer belt elements 13 and. 14 because of the shirrngs 115 on the upper edges of the reer elements 5 and 15 of the trousers which permit a greater stretching of saiol outer belt elements 13 and 13 so as to insure the necessary complete stretching of the inner ancl outer belt portions 13, 14 and. 20 of the 55 trousers to make them of pra.ctical utilty in adapting themselves to fitting snugly on the wea.rer without the use of suspenders or be1t.
It will be apparent that as the outer wastband or belt elements |3 and M are made of the same cloth as the main body of the trousers although out and set in on the bas, ha.ve a, natural elasticity which wl1 stand severe Wear and use as well as body heat and perspration without deterioration common to the ordnary elastic elements in whch rubber or one of its substtutes is used. Therefore the combined elements of the inner elastic waist or be1t member 20 and. the outer wast band members |3 and. I wll also have a much longer life and function together than is possble with the single elastc element or other ordnary combina.tions.
It will be apparenfi thai; many varations may be made in the details of structure of my device without departing from the sprt and intent o f the same and that such variations fal1 withn the purview of my invention.
I claim:
1. In a pair of trousers an elastic tight fltting waist portion comprising a waistband, the rear part of whch s made of regular trouser fabric set in on the bias, the trousers being shirred at 5 the upper edge in the rea.r and secured to the lower edge of the said bias waistband, and a. second wastband of rubber material secured to the inner face of the bas waistband.
2. In a, pair of trousers an elastic tight fitting 10 waist portion comprising a. waistband which is made throughout of regular trouserfabric set in on the bas, the trousers being shrred a.t the upper edge in the rear and. secured to the lower edge of sad. bias wastband, and a second waist- 5 band M a. rubber like material secured. to the inner face of the bias waistband whereby the expanson and. contraction of said waist porton is made possible.
