Said elastic band 400 may be interchangeable with other bands which differ depending on the workout preferences of the user.

Abstract
An exercise device is provided. The device includes an elastic band and a pair of handle apparatuses, each having a slide adjusted locking mechanism, a handle component, and a swiveling and rotating rod mechanism. Said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism is attached by a bearing to said handle mechanism, and by a pin to said slide adjusted locking mechanism. The device is provisioned to allow a band to be replaced or adjusted in length for various workouts.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to an exercise device, particularly an exercise device utilizing an elastic band and a pair of handle apparatuses to perform various exercises.
- 2. Description of the Previous Art
- Exercise devices for utilizing an elastic band to perform exercises are well known to the marketplace. These devices are portable and are typically provisioned for the performance of various workouts.
- Most often, tubular bands are attached to plastic handle frames such that the band can not be adjusted or replaced. Therefore, a completely new device would have to be purchased to accommodate varying levels of resistance. Furthermore, the entire device would have to be replaced in the event a band is broken. The tubular bands do not rest comfortably against surfaces or body parts that allow for the performance of a particular workout. Furthermore, said handle frames do not swivel or rotate and can make the performance of some exercises uncomfortable and possibly harmful to the body.
- The present invention is portable and easy to use while allowing the bands to be easily replaced or adjusted to allow for varying degrees of resistance. Said elastic band is flat shaped allowing it to rest comfortably against any surface that may allow for the performance of a given workout. Said elastic band is durable allowing it to accommodate users interested in rigorous workouts. Said exercise device have a handle that swivels and rotates, allowing for a full range of motion.
- The present invention provides for an exercise device that is portable, durable, easy to use, and adjustable.
- At present is an exercise device for utilizing an elastic band to perform exercises. The device comprises an elastic band and a pair of handle apparatuses. Each handle apparatus further comprises a slide adjusted locking mechanism to secure said elastic band therein, a handle component with a grip and a pair of arms, and a swiveling and rotating rod mechanism for attaching said handle mechanism to said slide adjusted locking mechanism. Said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism is attached by a bearing to said handle mechanism, and by a pin to said slide adjusted locking mechanism. The device is provisioned to allow a band to be replaced or adjusted in length for various workouts.

- The present invention relates to an exercise device for utilizing an elastic band to perform exercises. As best shown in
FIG. 1 , the device provides for anelastic band 400 and a pair of handle apparatuses. Preferably, the device may be provisioned to allow saidband 400 to be replaced or adjusted in length for various workouts as shown inFIG. 1 andFIG. 2 . - As best shown in
FIG. 5 , each handle apparatus further includes a slide adjustedlocking mechanism 300 to secure saidelastic band 400 therein, ahandle component 100 with agrip 106 and a pair ofarms 102, and a swiveling androtating rod mechanism 200 for attaching said handle mechanism to said slide adjustedlocking mechanism 300. Said swiveling and rotatingrod mechanism 300 may be attached by abearing 204 to saidhandle mechanism 100, and by apin 202 to said slide adjustedlocking mechanism 300. It should be understood that saidrotating rod mechanism 300 may be attached to saidhandle mechanism 100 or slide adjustedlocking mechanism 300 with any suitable fastener that is strong enough to endure a rigorous workout. - Said
handle mechanism 100 provides for a pair ofarms 102. It should be understood that any suitable number of arms may be utilized. A rotating handle bar 104 secured between eacharm 102 such that the bar may rotate, and agrip 106 that fits snuggly around said rotating handle bar 104 are further provided, as shown inFIG. 5 . It should be understood that said handle bar 104 may be attached such that it does not rotate. Saidgrip 106 may be provisioned to allow saidhandle mechanism 100 to be gripped comfortably. However, saidgrip 106 is not an essential element of the exercise device. - Said slide adjusted
locking mechanism 300 further provides for a slidinglocking bar 308, a rotatingpressure sleeve 310, and alocking frame 302. As shown inFIG. 3 , said slide adjustedlocking mechanism 308 may be preferably provisioned to secure saidelastic band 400 therein. Said slide adjusted locking frame may be provisioned to secure saidelastic band 400 therein whenever tension is applied to saidelastic band 400. Said locking bar may be provisioned to slide vertically along saidlocking frame 302 thereby releasing saidelastic band 400, as shown inFIG. 4 . Said rotatingpressure sleeve 310 may be cylindrical in shape and fits loosely around the bottom portion of saidlocking frame 302 such that said rotatingpressure sleeve 310 may rotate around the bottom portion of saidlocking frame 302 for easily adjusting or replacing saidelastic band 400. - As shown, a
recess 304 may be formed in the center of the upper portion of saidlocking frame 302. Saidrecess 304 is provisioned to allow saidhandle component 100 to easily swivel, as shown inFIG. 7 andFIG. 8 . - Said swiveling and rotating
rod mechanism 200 provides for alock pin 202, said bearingwasher 204, and a threadedpin shaft 206 having both an interior and an exterior surface. The interior surface of saidlocking pin shaft 206 may be threaded to allow said similarly threadedlocking pin 202 to be secured therein. It should be understood that although saidpin shaft 206 and saidlock pin 202 are attached using threaded surfaces, saidpin shaft 206 and saidlock pin 202 may be attached with any suitable fastener or method. Said lockingpin 202 is provisioned to fit through the center of said bearing 204 before said locking pin is secured to said threadedpin shaft 206 such that said bearing 204 may be provisioned to allow saidhandle component 100 to rotate, as shown inFIG. 6 andFIG. 9 . As shown inFIG. 10 andFIG. 11 , said handle apparatus is provisioned to rotate and swivel simultaneously to allow a full range of motion. A multitude of stabilizingspacers 306 are further provided. Saidspacers 306 may be attached to saidlocking frame 302 on opposing ends of saidrecess 304 such that saidspacers 306 may stabilize said threadedpin shaft 206 and prevent said threadedpin shaft 206 from sliding beyond saidrecess 304, as shown inFIG. 5 . - Preferably, said
elastic band 400 may be substantially flat in shape. As shown inFIG. 12 , saidelastic band 400 may be provisioned to fit comfortably underneath the feet while performing various exercises. Although a curling exercise is disclosed inFIG. 12 , said exercise device may be used to perform a wide variety of workouts, including bench press, upright rows, curls, tricep extensions, or squats.Said band 400 may be provisioned to rest comfortably against any surface that may allow for the performance of a particular workout; for example, the soles of the feet, back, shoulders, or chair backrest, depending on the exercise being performed. Saidelastic band 400 may be interchangeable with other bands which differ depending on the workout preferences of the user. - It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
Claims (18)
1. An exercise device for utilizing an elastic band to perform exercises, comprising:
an elastic band 400; and
a pair of handle apparatuses, each said handle apparatus comprising a slide adjusted locking mechanism 200 to secure said elastic band 400 therein, a handle component 100 with a grip 106 and a pair of arms 102, and a swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 for attaching said handle mechanism 100 to said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300 wherein said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 is attached by a bearing 204 to said handle mechanism 100, and by a pin 202 to said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300.
2. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein the device is provisioned to allow a band 400 to be replaced or adjusted in length for various workouts.
3. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said handle mechanism 100 comprises:
a pair of arms 102;
a rotating handle bar 104 secured between said pair of arms 102; and
a grip 106 which fits snuggly around said rotating handle bar 104, said grip 106 being provisioned allow said handle mechanism 100 to be gripped comfortably.
4. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300 further comprises:
a sliding locking bar 308;
a rotating pressure sleeve 310; and
a locking frame 302.
5. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 comprises:
a bearing washer 204;
a pin shaft 206;
a lock pin 202 provisioned to fit through the center of said bearing 204 and secured to said threaded pin shaft 206; and
a multitude of stabilizing spacers 306.
6. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said rotating pressure sleeve 310 fits loosely around the bottom portion of said locking frame 302, whereby said rotating pressure sleeve 310 is provisioned to allow band 400 to be easily replaced or adjusted.
7. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein a recess 304 is formed in the center of the upper portion of said locking frame 302.
8. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein a multitude of spacers 306 are attached to said locking frame 302 on opposing ends of said recess 304.
9. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said elastic band is substantially flat in shape, whereby said elastic band is provisioned to rest comfortably against any suitable surface that may allow for the performance of a particular workout.
10. The exercise device as recited in claim 1 wherein said elastic band 400 is interchangeable with other bands which differ to allow for various workouts.
11. A handle apparatus provisioned to allow an elastic band 400 to be replaced or adjusted in length for various workouts, comprising:
a slide adjusted locking mechanism 300 to secure said elastic band therein;
a handle component 100 with a grip 106 and a pair of arms 102; and
a swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 for attaching said handle mechanism 100 to said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300.
12. The handle apparatus as recited in claim 11 , wherein said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 is attached by a bearing 204 to said handle mechanism 100, and by a pin 202 to said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300.
13. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein said handle mechanism 100 comprises:
a pair of arms 102;
a rotating handle bar 104 secured between said pair of arms 102; and a grip 106 which fits snuggly around said rotating handle bar 104, said grip 106 being provisioned allow said handle mechanism 100 to be gripped comfortably.
14. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein said slide adjusted locking mechanism 300 further comprises:
a sliding locking bar 308;
a rotating pressure sleeve 310; and
a locking frame 302.
15. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein said swiveling and rotating rod mechanism 200 comprises:
a bearing washer 204;
a pin shaft 206;
a lock pin 202 provisioned to fit through the center of said bearing 204 and secured to said threaded pin shaft 206; and
a multitude of stabilizing spacers 306.
16. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein said rotating pressure sleeve 310 fits loosely around the bottom portion of said locking frame 302, whereby said rotating pressure sleeve 310 is provisioned to allow band 400 to be easily replaced or adjusted.
17. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein a recess 304 is formed in the center of the upper portion of said locking frame 302.
18. The exercise device as recited in claim 11 wherein a multitude of spacers 306 are attached to said locking frame 302 on opposing ends of said recess 304.
