  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to the field of devices made for holding make-up. More specifically, the invention comprises a compact container and dispenser for make-up.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Cosmetics are often stored and transported in containers of various shapes and sizes. The containers often carry a particular type of make-up and an application device. For example, blush or rouge is typically stored in a small circular or square compact. The user opens the compact and can use a pad or brush to apply the rouge. Similarly, lipstick is usually found in small cylindrical containers. The user can twist the container to extend the lipstick further out of the cylinder to apply and retract the lipstick back into the container when not in use.
  • Many women use various types of make-up to apply on the go. For example, a woman may carry make-up with her to apply at work, after the gym or in transit. Thus, a variety of containers storing make-up are carried along with an individual. The containers can be placed in a purse, gym bag, work bag, a car, locker or another storage container. These containers often get separated or are difficult to locate quickly in the user's purse, bag, etc.
  • In addition, many women have set make-up which is used for certain occasions. For example the make-up used to go to work may not be the same make-up used to go to a wedding or a night out. This further increases the number of make-up cases which the user must sort through while getting ready or for which the user must search for in a bag, purse, or other storage container.
  • Therefore what is needed is a universal make-up holder container that holds and allows for application of various types of make-up in one. The present invention achieves this objective, as well as others that are explained in the following description.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention comprises a make-up holder device having a main body, a receiver, and first end. Preferably, the main receiver includes a first applicator, a second applicator and a third applicator which fit into a first container, a second container, and a third container, respectively. The first end is preferably removably attached to the main body. Preferably, the first end includes a brush and a fourth container which is accessible upon removing the first end from the main body.
  • Make-up holder device preferably allows the user to easily access cosmetic substances stored within each of the containers. This is done using each of the applicators and the brush included on the first end.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • FIG. 1 illustrates an embodiment of the present invention. Make-up holding device 10 preferably comprises main body 12, a main receiver 14 and a first end 16. Preferably, first end 16 includes an applicator (shown and discussed in FIGS. 2 and 3). In some embodiments, main body 12 is attached to main receiver 14. In a preferred embodiment, main receiver 14 is integral to main body 12. Preferably, first end 16 is removably attached to main body 12. In the present embodiment of make-up holding device 10, first end 16 is attached to main body 12 via male and female threads. This allows the user to simply rotate first end 16 in order to remove first end 16 from main body 12.
  • Preferably, main receiver 14 receives a first applicator 18, a second applicator 24) and a third applicator 22. The reader will note that while three applicators are illustrated, make-up holding device 10 may include more or less applicators. The number of applicators is dependent on what the user requires from make-up holding device 10. This will be discussed further in the subsequent text. Each applicator is removably attached to main receiver 14. Each applicator can be a different size or shape and fits into main receiver 14. Main body 12 houses the make-up and provides one universal storage unit for the make-up used for each applicator—the details of which are discussed below.
  • As illustrated in FIG. 2, three primary component parts preferably make up the holding device 10. The three primary components are main receiver 14, main body 12 and first end 16. As described above, main receiver 14 and main body 12 could be removably attached or fully integrated together. Main receiver 14 includes first applicator 18 which connects to first container 30. Similarly, second applicator 20 connects to second container 32 and third applicator 22 connects to third container 34. Each container is housed within main body 12 and holds a type of cosmetic care substance. First end 16 includes a handle 24, thread portion 26, and a brush 28. Thread portion 26 attaches to the distal end of main body 12 which includes corresponding internal threads. As illustrated in FIG. 4, main body 12 includes a fourth container 36 which holds a type of cosmetic care substance, preferably rouge (blush), face powder, bronzer, foundation or any other powdery substance.
  • FIG. 3 shows how the device 10 is assembled for use. First end 16 fits into the distal end of main body 12 and main receiver 14 fits into the proximal end of main body 12 (in the case where main receiver 14 is not integral to main body 12). Returning to FIG. 1 the reader will appreciate that make-up holding device 10 presents a streamlined enclosure for several cosmetic substances. The device 10 serves to house a host of make-up supplies in one, easily accessible device 10.
  • In FIG. 4, a cut-away view is shown such that the internal components of make-up holding device 10 are visible. First end 16 fits into main body 12. Brush 28 is protected by main body 12. However, brush 28 can alternatively retract inside of first end 16, to protect the bristles of brush 28. Fourth container 36 sits within the main body 12 of device 10. The position of fourth container 36 allows the user to access powdery cosmetic substance in fourth container 36 with brush 28, for easy application.
  • FIG. 5 shows a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Similar to the previous embodiment, make-up holding device 10 comprises main body 12, main receiver 14, and first end 16. The reader will note that receiver 14 and main body 12 are a single part in this embodiment. Although main receiver 14 is shown with first applicator 18, second applicator 20, and third applicator 22, more or less applicators can be included with main receiver 14 if so desired. Preferably, first end 16 is removably attached to main body 12. FIG. 6 shows first end 16 removed from main body 12. In this embodiment, first end 16 is attached to main body 12 via an interference fit. This allows the user to simply force projection 38 into cavity 40 in order to reattach first end 16. The outer walls 54 of projection 38 engage with the interior portion 56 of main body 12 surrounding cavity 40. As illustrated, projection 38 and cavity 40 are oval-shaped. This allows a large space within cavity 40 for fourth container 36, which can hold blush or other pressed powders. Of course, projection 38 can be circular and threaded as shown in FIG. 3. This would allow the user to simply rotate first end 16 in order to attach and remove first end 16. In addition, a simple press snap can be used to attach first end 16 to main body 12.
  • FIG. 7 shows first end 16 of make-up holding device 10. In some embodiments, brush 28 is removable from first end 16. Preferably, brush 28 includes knob 42 and bristles 44. In a preferred embodiment of make-up holding device 10, brush 28 includes external threads 46 and first end 16 includes internal threads 48, as illustrated. This allows the user to remove brush 28 from first end 16 if necessary.
  • FIGS. 8 and 9 show another application for external threads 46 and internal threads 48. The reader will note that FIGS. 8 and 9 are sectional views of first end 16. External threads 46 are engaged with internal threads 48. By rotating knob 42 counterclockwise, brush 28 translates downward (in the present view). Similarly, by rotating knob 42 clockwise, brush 28 translates upward (in the current view). Counterclockwise rotation of knob 42 allows the user to remove brush 28 if so desired. In another embodiment of the present invention, there is a stop preventing brush 28 from being removed from first end 16. Referring now to FIG. 8, the reader will note that bristles 44 do not extend past projection 38. Looking back at FIGS. 5 and 6, the reader will note that when first end 16 is attached to main body 12 (FIG. 5), bristles 44 are preferably in a “retracted” state, as shown in FIG. 8. This prevents (1) bristles 44 from just resting in fourth container 36 which could cause bristles 44 to contain too much make-up and (2) bristles 44 from being damage or deformed from pressing against fourth container 36. Thus, when the user is ready to replace first end 16, he or she preferably rotates knob 42 until bristles 44 are no longer extended past projection 38.
  • FIG. 9 shows bristles 44 fully extended. When the user is prepared to apply make-up from fourth container 36, he or she removes first end 16 from main body 12, and rotates knob 42 counter clockwise until bristles 44 are fully extended (as shown in FIG. 9). Then, the user grasps first end 16 and inserts or swipes bristles 44 into fourth container 36. After applying the make-up using brush 28, the user returns brush 28 to the retracted state as shown in FIG. 8. Although the extension mechanism is shown as a simple screw, bristles 44 can be extended and retracted using other methods. For example bristles 44 can be extended using commonly known techniques which convert rotational motion to linear motion. In this instance, bristles 44 can be attached to a linearly translating nut having internal threads. Knob 42 is attached to an externally threaded shaft, or the driver which is fixed. As the user rotates knob 42, the nut, and therefore the bristles 44 translate upward and downward. Those familiar with the art will realize that this is a commonly used method in applications such as precision motion in aeronautics and automobiles, but also the method used to extend the stick for an antiperspirant/deodorant.
  • FIG. 10 shows main body 12 with first applicator 18, second applicator 20, and third applicator 22 removed from receiver 14. Each applicator is removably attached to main receiver 14. As illustrated, internal threads (not shown) are included on each applicator and external threads are included on receiver 14. As indicated by the dashed lines, main body 12 is compartmentalized. In this embodiment, first container 30, second container 32, and third container 34 are preferably integral to main body 12 and separated internally as indicated by the dashed lines representing container boundaries 50. As discussed briefly in the preceding text, each applicator may be used for a different type of make-up. This can vary depending on the preference of the user, the purpose of make-up holding device 10, or any number of reasons. The number of applicators and containers and the contents of them can by varied depending on a variety of reasons. One example of three common make-up types are shown in FIG. 10. First applicator 18 is intended for use with eyeliner, second applicator 20 is intended for use as lip gloss, and third applicator 22 is intended for use with mascara. Of course different make-up types can be included or swapped out. For example lipstick can be used instead of lip gloss or in addition to lip gloss. There are many combinations which can be incorporated into the current invention.
  • FIG. 11 shows an additional optional feature of the present invention. Preferably, mirror 52 is attached to the backside of main body 12. This allows the user see themselves as they apply make-up from make-up holder device 10.
  • The preceding description contains significant detail regarding the novel aspects of the present invention. It should not be construed, however, as limiting the scope of the invention but rather as providing illustrations of the preferred embodiments of the invention. Thus, the scope of the invention should be fixed by the following claims, rather than any specific example given.
