Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Fields of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a support pad, and more particularly, to a support pad for securely supporting the grate of a gas stove.
  • 2. Descriptions of Related Art
  • The conventional grate for a gas stove is installed on the top of the stove and so as to support the cookware on it. The conventional grate 1 is disclosed in FIG. 1 and comprises multiple rod-like parts to be integrally formed as one to support the cookware. The grate 1 is cooperated with multiple support pads 2 connected to the underside thereof so as to position the grate 1 relative to the stove. The conventional support pads 2 are made by rubber or plastic which is durable for high temperature and do not scratch the surface of the stove. The grate 1 has multiple through holes 3 and the support pads 2 are engaged with the through holes 3. However, the rubber or plastic support pads 2 are deformed after being used for a period of time, and the support pads 2 may be disengaged from the through holes 3. Besides, the support pads 2 may be lost during transportation and packing. The only way to improve the disadvantage is to replace new support pads.
  • The conventional support pads 2 obviously have the shortcomings which are that the rubber or plastic support pads 2 may be lost during transportation and packing. The conventional support pads 2 are deformed after being used for a period of time and the support pads 2 are disengaged from the through holes 3.
  • The present invention intends to provide a grate support pad to eliminate the shortcomings mentioned above.

  • FIG. 8 is am end view to show that the support pad of the present invention is engaged with the through hole of the grate.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 2 to 6, the support pad 20 of the present invention comprises an outer coat 21 made by resilient material, and a main part 22 made by metal. The main part 22 is located in the outer coat 21. The outer coat 21 has an insertion 211 and a base 212. The insertion 211 extends from the base 212. The insertion 211 has two ridges 2111 extending diametrically from the outside thereof and the ridges 2111 extend radially from the outside of the insertion 211. The grate 10 has multiple through holes 11 defined therethrough and the insertion 211 extends through one of the through holes 11 of the grate 10. The ridges 2111 contact against the inside of the through hole 11. The base 212 of the outer coat 21 is a cone-shaped base.
  • The main part 22 has at least one upright plate 221 and at least one bottom plate 222. The at least one upright plate 221 is located within the insertion 211 of the outer coat 21 and has an engaging portion 2211 which is located corresponding to the ridges 2111. The at least one upright plate 221 has a flat top. The at least one upright plate 221 of the main part 22 has at least one positioning hole 2212 through which the material of the outer coat 21 is filled. The at least one bottom plate 222 is located within the base 212 of the outer coat 21. The engaging portion 2211 urges the insertion 211 to be securely engaged with the through hole 11. The engaging portion 2211 includes multiple teeth on two sides of the body thereof and each of the teeth of the engaging portion 2211 extends downward an angle so that the teeth urge the insertion 211 to be securely engaged with the through hole 11. The at least one bottom plate 222 of the main part 22 includes two ¼ circular plates. The two ¼ circular plates are located symmetrically to each other so that the base 212 of the outer coat 21 can perfectly coat to the at least one bottom plate 222. The at least one upright plate 221 and the at least one bottom plate 222 are integrally formed with each other.
  • Further referring to FIGS. 1, 4, 7 and 8, the insertion 211 of each of the support pads 20 is inserted into the through hole 11 of the grate 10, the teeth of the engaging portion 2211 of the main part 22 are located corresponding to the two ridges 2111 of the insertion 211, and the teeth extend downward so that the teeth are engaged with the through hole 11. The insertion 211 is then difficult to be pulled out from the through hole 11 of the grate 10. The at least one bottom plate 222 of the main part 22 supports the weight of the cookware. The base 212 of the outer coat 21 is a cone-shaped base which has a certain thickness such that the support pad 20 does not slip.
  • The main part 22 is made by metal so as to support the cookware without worry of deformation. The teeth of the engaging portion 2211 of the main part 22 are located corresponding to the two ridges 2111 of the insertion 211, and the teeth extend downward so that the teeth are engaged with the through hole 11. The cone-shaped base 212 of the outer coat 21 has a certain thickness such that the support pad 20 does not slip and will not scratch the surface of the stove. The outer coat 21 is made by plastic material which is ideal for isolation to heat.
  • While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
