Abstract

A method and apparatus to enable scoreboard time control system for referee(s) to accurately officiate a sporting event. The system includes a digital switch inside a whistle connected to a Communication Pack for one or more referees and a receiver at the Control Device for the official time clock of the sports event. This system allows the referee to control the clock starting and stopping at his command rather than putting that in the hands of a local official. The control device for the official time clock receives a signal to start the clock when the communication pack signals the control device and also stops the clock when the digital whistle is blown thereby transmitting a signal to the communications pack and then to the control device thereby stopping the official time clock.

Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
  • FIG. 1 shows the digital whistle which looks like a normal whistle (100) with a ball (110) inside of the unit along with a digital switch (120).
  • The Digital Whistle sends a signal (125) to a Communications Pack (130) that communicates(135) to a Control Device at the Scoreboard (140).
  • The Communication Pack can have a button (115) or other switch that will allow the official to start the clock. By blowing the digital whistle a switch inside the whistle will be activated thereby signaling to the Communications Pack (130) to send a signal to the Control Device (140) to stop the clock.
  • This description contains no new matter from my previous submitted drawing.

Claims (2)

The invention claimed is:
1. A process for a field referee officiating a timed sports event comprising the steps of: providing a sports controller including an event clock with event time information and a signal receiver connected to said event clock; providing a signal transmitter including; a battery power source; and detecting an event occurrence on the field by the referee wherein a signal from the referee is transmitted to the event clock controller signaling the controller to stop the event clock.
2. The process of claim 1, wherein the referee transmitter includes a plurality of alerting devices, which could be activated by either the act of blowing the whistle or raising an arm (or any other action used to signal stoppage of the event clock).
