  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention relates generally to propellant-operated spray containers and in particular to a protected shaving cream can. Unlike most other spray containers, a can of shaving cream is frequently placed on wet surfaces, causing corrosion. For many users, a can of shaving cream may remain in use for several months. The extended exposure to moisture frequently causes unsightly corrosion on the can, which is transferred to other surfaces. A flexible sleeve, fitting over the bottom of the shaving cream can to protect it from moisture, would resolve this problem. In particular, a flexible sleeve featuring a plurality of high-friction bead structures around the rim of the bottom surface of the base, which would prevent slippage on wet surfaces. A flexible sleeve with a decorative exterior surface would add to the aesthetic of the room where the flexible sleeve is in use.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, the invention is directed to a flexible sleeve, fitting over the bottom of the shaving cream can to protect it from moisture. The flexible sleeve would further feature a plurality of high-friction bead structures around the rim of the bottom surface of the base, which would prevent slippage on wet surfaces.
  • Additional features and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the description which follows, and will be apparent from the description, or may be learned by practice of the invention. The foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory and are intended to provide further explanation of the invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The accompanying drawings are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated into and constitute a part of the specification. They illustrate one embodiment of the invention and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles of the invention.
  • FIG. 1 shows a side perspective view of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the wall 10, the thumb tab 11, and the bead structures 13.
  • FIG. 2 shows a bottom perspective view of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the wall 10, the thumb tab 11, the base 12, and the bead structures 13.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to a flexible sleeve, fitting over the bottom of the shaving cream can to protect it from moisture. The flexible sleeve would further feature a plurality of high-friction bead structures 13 around the rim of the bottom surface of the base 12, which would prevent slippage on wet surfaces.
  • Preferably, the wall 10 of the flexible sleeve would be one-quarter inch to one-half inch tall. The flexible sleeve would be provided in a variety of sizes to fit the cans of all the most popular brands of shaving cream. The flexible sleeve is intended to be provided as an attachment by the manufacturer of the shaving cream, or separately as an accessory. The flexible sleeve may be used with any cylindrical container that fits into it. Flexible sleeves with exterior surfaces that are decorated to match the room in which they are in use are also contemplated.
  • A thumb tab 11 is provided on the front of the wall 10 of the flexible sleeve, to enable the user to easily remove the flexible sleeve from the can. The thumb tab 11 is the only feature on the otherwise smooth and featureless surface of the wall 10. The base 12 is of a substantial thickness to provide greater weight and more ballast for the can, making it more stable and more difficult to inadvertently knock over while shaving or in the shower. Alternate embodiments, wherein the base 12 may also feature a circular core or plate, manufactured from a material of greater density to provide a greater stabilizing ballast effect, are also contemplated.
  • The flexible sleeve is preferably manufactured from a flexible, durable material such as rubber, silicone, or plastic. In the first exemplary embodiment, the flexible sleeve is preferably manufactured in a single piece, preferably by injection molding. Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.
  • While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is presently considered to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should, therefore, not be limited by the above described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.
