Abstract
A replaceable bullet cartridge appropriate for use in the gun that includes a primer and a spherical BB positioned approximately ¼ th of an inch away from the primer. The BB is secured in position with a piece of paper wadding set within the replaceable bullet cartridge. The BB and paper wadding are emitted from a second of the replaceable bullet casing when the gun is fired and the primer is struck. There is no gun powder or propellant used in combination with the primer when using the replaceable bullet cartridge. The resulting speeds of the BB are in the range of 700 to 800 feet per second.
Description
- The present application is a continuation in part (CIP) to U.S. Non-Provisional application Ser. No. 13/759,882 filed Feb. 5, 2013. The present application claims the benefit of U.S. Non-Provisional application Ser. No. 13/759,882 filed Feb. 5, 2013.
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention is a replaceable bullet cartridge. More specifically, the present invention is a replaceable bullet cartridge designed to be used with a BB and primer as the propellant and no gun powder.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Bullet cartridges in guns or rifles typically utilize gun powder as propellant that is contained within a portion of the bullet cartridge and a primer to ignite the gun powder. The striker of the gun or rifle is not sufficient when fired to ignite gun powder alone so primer is ignited first.
- The present invention is a bullet cartridge. More specifically, the present invention is a replaceable bullet cartridge with a BB and primer.
- The replaceable bullet cartridge is a traditional metal bullet cartridge for a rifle or gun, that includes a primer and a spherical BB positioned approximately ¼ th of an inch away from the primer. The BB is secured in position with a piece of paper wadding set within the replaceable bullet cartridge which is emitted from the replaceable bullet cartridge with the BB when the primer is struck by a gun hammer. The primer is the only propellant used in combination with the replaceable bullet cartridge.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge that will fire a much smaller projectile than the firearm is designed to fire and can be reloaded easily with minimal instruction than a traditional bullet cartridge.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replacement bullet cartridge that will fire a BB using only a primer.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge that can be reloaded multiple times.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge that can be constructed to fit in a variety of handgun bullet calibers.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge that fire a much smaller projectile, such as a BB, than the caliber the gun is designed to fire.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge not using gunpowder so that it will reduce recoil.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet to accommodate one or more rifles or other various.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a replaceable bullet cartridge that includes a BB secured an optimal distance away from the primer with a piece of paper wadding within the cartridge to shoot the BB.

However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.
- Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention however, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.
- The phrase “in one embodiment” is used repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

FIG. 1A illustrates a side view of areplaceable bullet cartridge 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. - The
replaceable bullet cartridge 100 includes a circular raisedrim 110, aprimer 120, acasing 130 and anexpander 140. The circular raisedrim 110 includes aprimer pocket 112 disposed within the circular raisedrim 110. The circular raisedrim 110 is sized larger than thecasing 130 so that it can be grasped to facilitate handling thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 and to secure thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 within a selected one of a gun chamber or a rifle chamber. Theprimer 120 is placed within theprimer pocket 112 of the circular raisedrim 110 and can be a replaceable primer. The primer 120 ignites when struck with the striker of the gun. Thecasing 130 has afirst end 132 and asecond end 134 and is a one-piece cylinder. Thecasing 130 is made of a material selected from the group consisting of metal or brass but can be made of any suitable material. The expander 140 at thesecond end 134 of thecasing 130 represents a slug end of abullet 100. Theslug end expander 140 provides a tapered shape that matches bullet chamber of the gun or rifle it is used in. All of the diameters, lengths and shapes of thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 should match manufacturer's recommendations for the particular firearm or groups of firearms in use. -
FIG. 1B illustrates a side view of areplaceable bullet cartridge 100 having aexpander slug 140 matching a cone shape of another bullet cartridge such as that from a semi-automatic clip (not shown) of a semi-automatic firearm (not shown) and allows thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 to feed to a gun barrel (not shown) when manually pulling back on a slide (not shown) and releasing the slide. FIG. 1C illustrates a cross-sectional view alongline 1A-1A inFIG. 1A of areplaceable bullet cartridge 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. - The
replaceable bullet cartridge 100 includes aninternal channel BB 160 and a piece ofpaper wadding 170. The circular raisedrim 110 andaperture 114 is disposed on thefirst end 132 of thecasing 130. The circular raisedrim 110 is sized larger than thecasing 130 so that it can be grasped to facilitate handling thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 and to secure thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 within a selected one of a gun chamber or a rifle chamber. Theprimer pocket 112 is designed and shaped to accommodate the (replaceable)primer 120 and partially extends into thecasing 130. Theinternal channel 150 has afirst portion 152 and asecond portion 154. Thefirst portion 152 of theinternal channel 150 is coupled with theprimer pocket 112 within thecasing 120 and extends towards thesecond portion 154 of theinternal channel 154. Thefirst portion 152 is then coupled with thesecond portion 154 of theinternal channel 150. Thesecond portion 154 extends through thesecond end 134 to theexpander 140. - The
BB 160 andpaper wadding 170 is positioned within thesecond portion 154 of theinternal channel 150 in front of thefirst portion 152 of theinternal channel 150. The length of thefirst portion 152 approximately ¼ th of an inch from theprimer 120 and primer pocket 113. The diameter of thefirst portion 152 must be smaller than the diameter of theBB 160. Therefore when theBB 160 and paper wade 170 are loaded they are forced to sit ¼ of an inch from the primer. The position of the BB or length of the first portion is a predetermined or a tested optimal distance. Thefirst portion 152 is open to allow the force generated from striking theprimer 120 to drive theBB 160 and the piece ofpaper wadding 170 through theinternal channel 150 at optimal speed to exit the gun. - A series of trials have been conducted where the
BB 160 is positioned a plurality of distances from theprimer 120 within theinternal channel 150 with the distance of ¼ th of an inch from theprimer 120 producing the most powerful firing force. Other trial distances from theprimer 120 within theinternal channel 150 include approximately ¾ths of an inch, approximately ⅝ths of an inch, approximately ½ of an inch, approximately ¼th of an inch, approximately ⅛th of an inch and approximately zero inches or theBB 160 being in direct contact with theprimer 120. - The
BB 160 is secured by a piece ofpaper wadding 170 that is positioned in thesecond portion 154 of theinternal channel 150 against thefirst portion 152 of theinternal channel 150 by a forcing and loading the wadding andBB 160 through the hole at thesecond portion 154 atsecond end 134. TheBB 160 and the piece ofpaper wadding 170 are emitted through theinternal channel 150 and exit the gun, when the replaceable primer is struck by a hammer (not shown) from a selected one of a pistol (not shown) or a rifle (not shown). - The
BB 160 and the piece ofpaper wadding 170 are fired from thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 without a selected one of gun powder and propellant (not shown). TheBB 160 is made of metal and is generally spherically shaped. There is also an area surrounding theinternal channel 150 within thecasing 130 that is made of a solid material selected from the group consisting of metal or brass, but it can be made of any suitable material. Thesecond portion 154 of theinternal channel 150 is approximately 0.173 inches in diameter but can be any suitable diameter to accommodate theBB 160. - The
BB 160 is typically 0.172 inches in diameter and should not enter thefirst portion 152. Thefirst portion 152 is approximately 0.140 inches in diameter but can be any suitable diameter that prevents theBB 160 from getting to close to theprimer 120. Theprimer pocket 112 is 0.209 inches in diameter but can be any suitable diameter as well. Thecasing 130 is approximately 0.380 inches in diameter but can be any suitable diameter as well since that size reflects the requirements of the gun used. Thereplaceable bullet cartridge 100 ofFIG. 1C will fire theBB 160 in the range of approximately 700 to 800 feet per second based on a plurality of tests and trials. - The
replaceable bullet cartridge 100 allows one to use aBB 160 and primer with no gun powder so that recoil is reduced. - While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.
Claims (24)
1. A replaceable bullet cartridge, comprising:
a raised circular rim that includes a primer pocket disposed in an aperture within the raised circular rim, the raised circular rim is grasped to remove the replaceable bullet cartridge as needed;
a replaceable primer is placed within the primer pocket and the primer pocket partially extends into the casing;
a casing has a first end, a second end and an internal channel and the internal channel has a first portion and a second portion, the raised circular rim and the aperture are disposed on the first end of the casing, the first portion of the internal channel is coupled with the primer pocket and the first portion is coupled with the second portion of the internal channel;
a BB is positioned within the second portion of the internal channel in front of the first portion of the internal channel, the BB is secured by a piece of paper wadding within the second portion and is positioned between the second end of the casing and the BB as close as possible to the BB;
the second end of the casing includes an expander area providing shape to the replaceable bullet cartridge;
the diameter of the first portion of the internal channel is less than the diameter of the BB;
the BB and the first portion of the internal channel is approximately ¼ th of an inch from the replaceable primer or primer pocket;
when a gun is fired with the replaceable bullet cartridge the replaceable primer is stuck and ignites to eject the BB and the paper wadding through the internal channel and out the second end of the casing and trough the barrel of the gun.
2. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the primer pocket is 0.209 inches in diameter.
3. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the casing is 0.380 inches in diameter and the expander area is 0.357 inches in diameter.
4. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the casing is made of a material selected from the group consisting of metal or brass.
5. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the internal channel is 0.140 inches in diameter.
6. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the second portion of the internal channel is 0.174 inches in diameter.
7. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the BB is generally spherically shaped.
8. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 7 , wherein the BB is metal.
9. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 8 , wherein the BB is 4.5 mm in diameter.
10. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the BB is made of metal, is generally spherically shaped and is 4.5 mm in diameter.
11. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the lack of gun powder in the replaceable bullet cartridge reduces recoil when struck.
12. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the replaceable bullet cartridge will fire the BB in the range of 700 to 800 feet per second.
13. The replaceable bullet cartridge according the claim 1 , wherein the shape and size of the expander area of the second end matches manufacturer's recommendations for the particular firearm or groups of firearms in use.
14. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein all diameters, lengths and shapes of the casing match manufacturer's recommendations for the particular firearm or groups of firearms in use.
15. A replaceable bullet cartridge, comprising:
a raised circular rim that includes a primer pocket disposed in an aperture within the raised circular rim, the raised circular rim is grasped to remove the replaceable bullet cartridge as needed;
a replaceable primer is placed within the primer pocket and the primer pocket partially extends into the casing;
a casing has a first end, a second end and an internal channel and the internal channel has a first portion and a second portion, the raised circular rim and the aperture are disposed on the first end of the casing, the first portion of the internal channel is coupled with the primer pocket and the first portion is coupled with the second portion of the internal channel;
a BB is positioned within the second portion of the internal channel in front of the first portion of the internal channel, the BB is secured by a piece of paper wadding within the second portion and is positioned between the second end of the casing and the BB as close as possible to the BB;
the second end of the casing includes an expander area providing shape to the replaceable bullet cartridge;
the diameter of the first portion of the internal channel is less than the diameter of the BB;
the BB and the first portion of the internal channel is an optimal distance from the replaceable primer or primer pocket;
when a gun is fired with the replaceable bullet cartridge the replaceable primer is stuck and ignites to eject the BB and the paper wadding through the internal channel and out the second end of the casing and trough the barrel of the gun.
16. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the primer pocket is 0.209 inches in diameter.
17. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the casing is 0.380 inches in diameter and the expander area is 0.357 inches in diameter.
18. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the casing is made of a material selected from the group consisting of metal or brass.
19. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the first portion of the internal channel is 0.140 inches in diameter.
20. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the second portion of the internal channel is 0.174 inches in diameter.
21. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the BB is generally spherically shaped.
22. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 15 wherein the BB and the first portion of the internal channel is ¼ of inch from the replaceable primer or primer pocket.
23. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 21 , wherein the BB is metal.
24. The replaceable bullet cartridge according to claim 23 , wherein the BB is 4.5 mm in diameter.
