Abstract

A sewing line table having integrated power and air supply lines is useful for industrial and commercial sewing lines. A single drop-down conduit can provide a single power connection to deliver power to multiple power outlets disposed inside the table along its length. An air connection nozzle can provide a single air connection to deliver air to multiple locations along the length of the table. The interior of the table can be covered with a top cover, side sheathing and front/back sheathing. The stand-alone sewing line table can be used to increase efficiency and productivity in an industrial or commercial sewing line. The table can also be used in other industries that may require electrical and airline access along a line, such as food processing, or the like.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to table design and, more particularly, to a table center console having power and air supplies for industrial and commercial sewing lines.
  • Industrial or commercial sewing lines often use long tables with multiple work stations with sewing machines. Typically, drop down air lines are needed to provide an air supply to each station and power cords run from machine to machine.
  • These multiple air and power lines can create safety issues, environmental concerns, reduce efficiency and diminish aesthetics.
  • As can be seen, there is a need for an improved sewing line table design that addresses many of the issues with conventional industrial can commercial sewing lines.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one aspect of the present invention, a sewing line table comprises a plurality of legs disposed along a length of the sewing line table; inner framing supported by the plurality of legs; a top cover disposed on the inner framing; electrical power provided at one end of the sewing line table; pressurized air provided at one end of the sewing line table; a power conduit carrying the electrical power along the length of the table; and an air conduit carrying the pressurized air along the length of the table.
  • In another aspect of the present invention, a sewing line table comprises a plurality of legs disposed along a length of the sewing line table; inner framing supported by the plurality of legs; a top cover ledge formed in an L-shape about an upper periphery of the sewing line table; a top cover disposed on the inner framing within the top cover ledge; electrical power provided at one end of the sewing line table; pressurized air provided at one end of the sewing line table; a power conduit carrying the electrical power along the length of the table; and an air conduit carrying the pressurized air along the length of the table.
  • These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a sewing line table according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the sewing line table of FIG. 1, with the side sheathing, the front/back sheathing and the top cover removed for illustrative clarity;
  • FIG. 3 is a detailed perspective view of the sewing line table of FIG. 1, with the side sheathing, the front/back sheathing and the top cover removed for illustrative clarity;
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of the sewing line table of FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 5 is a front view of the sewing line table of FIG. 1; and
  • FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a sewing line table having integrated power and air supply line that is useful for industrial and commercial sewing lines.
  • Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 6, a sewing line table can include a plurality of legs 28 and inner framing 30 that can support a top cover at a desired height. This height may vary depending on application, but may usually be from about 1.5 feet to about 3 feet, typically about 2 feet high.
  • Front and back sheathing 24 can be disposed on the front and back sides of the sewing line table. Side sheathing 22 can be disposed on the ends (sides) of the sewing line table. Typically, the sewing line table frame (legs 28 and inner framing 30) is made from metal, such as steel, with the side sheathing 22 and the front and back sheathing 24 being made of the same material as the sewing line table frame.
  • A top cover ledge 32 can be disposed about the top periphery of the sewing line table frame (the inner framing 30). The top cover ledge 32 may be 90 degree angle material (L-shaped) with its angle disposed against the top of the sewing line table frame, along its outer periphery.
  • A top cover 26 can be disposed inside the top cover ledge 32, supported by the inner framing 30. The top cover 26 can be made from various materials, such as wood, laminate, composite, plastic, metal, or the like. The thickness of the top cover 26 may be equal to or thicker than the height of the top cover ledge 32.
  • The sewing line table can be from about 10 to about 30 or more feet in length, typically about 24 feet in length. The sewing line table can be from about 1 to about 3 feet deep, typically about 1 foot, 8 inches deep. Holes may be provided in the sewing line top cover 26 to provide access to the electric or air sources provided within the sewing line table.
  • A drop down conduit 10 can provide electrical power through an inner power conduit 12 disposed inside the sewing line table. The drop down conduit 10 can feed power at one end of the table. A plurality of 240V power outlets 14 and 120V power outlets 16 can be disposed along the inner power conduit 12. Of course, various power outlets can be provided along the power conduit 12, as may be needed for the intended application.
  • An air nozzle 18 can be disposed at the side sheathing 22 at one end of the sewing line table. The air nozzle 18 may be, for example, a quick release air line coupling member that an couple to a pressurized air line. The air nozzle 18 can connect to an air conduit that can run along the length of the sewing line table, providing access to air at any desired location therealong.
  • The sewing line table of the present invention no longer requires multiple air line drops and power cords running from machine to machine. By having a single air connection and power drop down conduit, safety, efficiency and aesthetics are all improved.
  • While the above description focuses on sewing line tables, the table of the present invention may be used in other applications that may require power and air lines available at various locations along the length of the table. One such application may be in the food processing industry, for example.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
