Abstract

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to an article of manufacture which can be used generally for the purpose of carrying assorted objects and items in different pockets. A number of specific uses are suggested below.
    • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is a bag comprising three plastic panels adhered together at their bottom and side edges, each composed of a layer of biodegradable plastic.
  • In one embodiment the invention is a bag comprising a base panel, a first pocket panel and a front panel. The base panel has a height, a width, a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges. The first pocket panel is adjacent the base panel and affixed to the base panel along the bottom edge and side edges of the base panel. The first pocket panel has a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges, a base panel facing side and an outer facing side. The first pocket panel has a height shorter than the base panel height. That is, some of the base panel extends above the top edge of the first pocket panel. The front panel is adjacent the first pocket panel on the outer facing side of the first pocket panel and is affixed to the first pocket panel along the bottom edge and the two side edges of the first pocket panel. The front panel has a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges and an outer facing side. The front panel has a height shorter than the first pocket panel height. The front panel may further comprise perforation lines extending vertically from the front panel top edge toward the front panel bottom edge.

    •  DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • While this invention may be embodied in many forms, there is shown in the drawings and will herein be described in detail one or more embodiments with the understanding that this disclosure is to be considered an exemplification of the principles of the invention and is not intended to limit the invention to the illustrated embodiments.
  • The invention is a bag 101 comprising a base panel 201, a first pocket panel 104 and a front panel 102. The base panel 201 has a height, a width, a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges. The first pocket panel 104 is adjacent the base panel 201 and affixed to the base panel 201 along the bottom edge and side edges of the base panel 201. The first pocket panel 104 has a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges, a base panel facing side and an outer facing side. The first pocket panel 104 has a height shorter than the base panel height. That is, some of the base panel 104 extends above the top edge of the first pocket panel 104. The front panel 102 is adjacent the first pocket panel 104 on the outer facing side of the first pocket panel 104 and is affixed to the first pocket panel 104 along the bottom edge and the two side edges of the first pocket panel 104. (Alternatively the front panel 102 may be affixed to the base panel 201 along the bottom edge and the two side edges of the base panel 201, or the three panels may all be affixed along their respective bottom and side edges.) The front panel 102 has a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges and an outer facing side. The front panel 102 has a height shorter than the first pocket panel height. The front panel 102 may further comprise perforation lines 103 extending vertically from the front panel top edge toward the front panel bottom edge.
  • Turning to the drawings, there is shown in FIG. 1 one embodiment of the present invention, a bag 101 that can be adhered to a flat wall 100 or other object surface. The bag 101 comprises a front panel 102 which, in the 15″×18″ embodiment, is 4″ shorter than a base panel 201 and 2″ shorter than a first pocket panel 104 to allow easy access at the top opening. The front panel 102 is perforated along perforation lines 103, which typically are ¾″ in from each side to allow quick emptying and disposal by pulling down the front panel 102 from the top. The bag further comprises a two inch reinforced strip 106 along the top of the base panel 201.
  • The placement of indicia 105 on the front panel 102 for advertising or other purposes is recommended and can be very effective for the duration of the bag's use and exposure. A die cut opening 107 formed in the reinforced strip 106 may be used as a handle.
  • FIG. 2 is a side view of smart bag 101. It illustrates the relative positions of base panel 201, the first pocket panel 104 and the front panel 102. It also illustrates the position of the aggressive glue pads 202 used to attach the bag 101 to a typical flat wall 100 made of any material, or to an object of different shape. The glue pads 202 may be 2″×2″ “aggressive glue” pads and may be affixed to the rear of the base panel 201 opposite the reinforcing strip 106. The glue pads 202 may have a removable cover 203.
  • FIG. 3 is a rear view of a Smart Bag 101. The base panel 201 extends the full width and height of the bag 101.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates an application in which the bag 101 is used as a depository. The front pocket 401 formed by the first pocket panel 104 and the front panel 102 in the 15″×18″ embodiment is 4″ shorter than the base panel 201. The rear pocket 401′ formed by the rear panel 201 and the first pocket panel 104 in the 15″×18″ embodiment is 2″ shorter than the base panel 201. Both pockets 401, 401′ may hold inserted objects.
  • FIG. 5 shows a view in which the front panel 102 has been torn along perforation lines 103, enabling objects or material held in the front pocket 401 to be removed as appropriate and other material within the bag 101 to be handled in a different manner.
  • FIG. 6 is a front view of an alternative embodiment of a bag 101 according to the invention, showing variations at indeterminate lengths and widths, and illustrating a front panel 102, a first pocket panel 104, perforation lines 103, indicia 105, a two inch reinforced strip 106 at the top of the bag 101, and a die cut opening 107 for use as a handle.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates a carrying usage of the bag 101, in which a woman 701 is holding the bag 101 by the die cut opening 107.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates another use of the bag 101, in which the bag 101 is mounted to the back of a stadium seat where it can be easily accessed by a man 801 as a seat pocket.

Claims (3)

What is claimed is:
1. A bag comprising:
a base panel having a height, a width, a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges;
a first pocket panel adjacent the base panel and affixed to the base panel along the bottom edge and side edges of the base panel, the first pocket panel having a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges, a base panel facing side and an outer facing side, the first pocket panel having a height shorter than the base panel height,;
a front panel adjacent the first pocket panel on the outer facing side of the first pocket panel and affixed to the first pocket panel along the bottom edge and two side edges of the first pocket panel, the front panel having a top edge, a bottom edge, two side edges and an outer facing side, the front panel having a height shorter than the first pocket panel height, the front panel further comprising perforation lines extending vertically from the front panel top edge toward the front panel bottom edge.
2. The bag of claim 1 further comprising indicia located on the front panel outer surface.
3. The bag of claim 1 further comprising a die cut opening located in the base panel above the top edge of the first pocket panel.
