- 2. Description of Related Art
- Fan assemblies in notebook computers typically include a top cover, a bottom cover, an installation frame, and a fan body. The installation frame connects between the top cover and the bottom cover, and the installation frame, the top cover and the bottom cover cooperatively defines a receiving space, which receives the fan body therein. The top cover or the bottom cover can be secured to a chassis of the notebook computer, to secure the fan assembly in the notebook computer. However, the securing process of the fan assembly is time-consuming, and the fan assembly can be complicated and costly. Therefore, there is room for improvement in the art.
- Many aspects of the embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded, isometric view of one embodiment of an electronic device assembly. -
FIG. 2 is an assembled, isometric view of the electronic device assembly ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an exploded, isometric view of another embodiment of an electronic device assembly. -
FIG. 4 is an assembled, isometric view of the electronic device assembly ofFIG. 3 . -
FIG. 5 is similar toFIG. 4 , but viewed from a different from aspect. - The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation in the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. In the illustrated embodiment, theinstallation frame 12 is “U” shaped. Theinstallation frame 12 surrounds the plurality ofvalidation holes 112. Theplate body 11 may be, for example, made of plastic, and theinstallation frame 12 is integrated with theplate body 11. - The
fan module 200 includes afan 20, acover 30, and amounting member 50. Thefan 20 includes a plurality ofblades 21 and arotating portion 23 connected to the plurality ofblades 21. The rotatingportion 23 includes arotating shaft 231 and defines amounting slot 232. - The
cover 30 defines a plurality ofair inlet 31, a throughhole 32, twoinstallation slots 33, and aninserting hole 35 in a distal end of eachinstallation slot 33. In the illustrated embodiment, thecover 30 is substantially “U” shaped. - The
mounting member 50 includes amounting portion 51, twoinstallation arms 53 extending from opposite ends of themounting portion 51, and amounting post 55 extending from a distal end of eachinstallation arm 53. -
FIG. 2 shows that, in assembly, themounting member 50 and thefan 20 are positioned on opposite sides of thecover 30. Themounting portion 51 is inserted through the throughhole 32 and engaged in themounting slot 232. Themounting portion 51 is rotatable relative to thecover 30 in the throughhole 32. Theinstallation arm 53 is received in theinstallation slot 33, and themounting post 55 is engaged in theinserting hole 35. Thus, thefan 20 is secured to thecover 30. - The
fan module 200 is positioned in theinstallation frame 12. Thecover 30 is secured to theinstallation frame 12 by screws or other conventional securing methods. Thus, thefan module 200 is secured to thebottom plate 10. Thefan 20 is located between thecover 30 and theplate body 11. In use, the rotatingshaft 231 is rotated by a motor (not shown) to rotate theblades 21, the rotatingportion 23, and themounting portion 51 relative to thecover 30. - Because the
installation frame 12 is integrated with theplate body 11 and thefan module 200 is secured to theinstallation frame 12 directly through thecover 30, thefan module 200 eliminates the need for another cover and an additional securing process between theinstallation frame 12 and the other cover, which reduce cost and a results in a simpler securing process between thefan module 200 and thebottom plate 10. -

In the alternative embodiment, the electronic device enclosure is a keyboard enclosure, and thebottom wall 60 is a bottom plate of the keyboard enclosure (shown as inFIG. 5 ). - The
bottom wall 60 defines a plurality ofopenings 61. In the alternative embodiment, thebottom wall 60 may be made of metal, for example. - The
fan module 200′ includes afan 20′, acover 30′, amounting member 50′, and a securingframe 70. Thefan 20′ includes a plurality ofblades 21′ and a rotatingportion 23′ connected to the plurality ofblades 21′. The rotatingportion 23′ includes arotating shaft 231′ and defines amounting slot 232′. - The
cover 30′ defines a plurality ofair inlets 31′, a throughhole 32′, and twoinstallation slots 33′. Thecover 30′ further defines aninserting hole 35′ in a distal end of eachinstallation slot 33′. In the alternative embodiment, thecover 30′ is substantially “U” shaped. - The
mounting member 50′ includes amounting portion 51′ and twoinstallation arms 53′ extending from opposite ends of themounting portion 51′. Themounting member 50′ further includes amounting post 55′ extending from a distal end of eachinstallation arm 53′. - The
securing frame 70 includes a “U”shaped frame body 71 and asecuring piece 73 extending from theframe body 71. -
FIG. 4 shows that in assembly, themounting member 50′ and thefan 20′ are positioned in opposite sides of thecover 30′. Themounting portion 51′ is inserted through thethrough hole 32′ and engaged in themounting slot 232′. Themounting portion 51′ is rotatable relative to thecover 30′ in thethrough hole 32′. Theinstallation arm 53′ is received in theinstallation slot 33′, and the mountingpost 55′ is engaged in the insertinghole 35′. Thus, thefan 20′ is secured to thecover 30′. Thecover 30′ is secured to theframe body 71 by screws or other conventional securing methods. Thus, thefan module 200′ is assembled. Thefan module 200′ is placed on thebottom wall 60 and above theopening 61. The securingpiece 73 is secured to thebottom wall 60 by screws or other conventional securing methods. In use, therotating shaft 231′ is rotated by a motor (not shown) to rotate theblades 21′, the rotatingportion 23′, and the mountingportion 51′ relative to thecover 30′. - Because the
fan module 200′ is secured to thebottom wall 60 directly through the securingframe 70, thefan module 200′ eliminates the need for another cover and an additional securing process between theframe body 71 and the other cover, which reduce cost and results in a simpler securing process between thefan module 200′ and thebottom wall 60. - It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages have been set forth in the foregoing description of embodiments, together with details of the structures and functions of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only and changes may be made in detail, especially in the matters of shape, size, and the arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure, to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
