Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Technical Field
  • The present disclosure relates to electronic device assembles, and particularly to an electronic device assembly with a fan.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Fan assemblies in notebook computers typically include a top cover, a bottom cover, an installation frame, and a fan body. The installation frame connects between the top cover and the bottom cover, and the installation frame, the top cover and the bottom cover cooperatively defines a receiving space, which receives the fan body therein. The top cover or the bottom cover can be secured to a chassis of the notebook computer, to secure the fan assembly in the notebook computer. However, the securing process of the fan assembly is time-consuming, and the fan assembly can be complicated and costly. Therefore, there is room for improvement in the art.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Many aspects of the embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded, isometric view of one embodiment of an electronic device assembly.
  • FIG. 2 is an assembled, isometric view of the electronic device assembly of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded, isometric view of another embodiment of an electronic device assembly.
  • FIG. 4 is an assembled, isometric view of the electronic device assembly of FIG. 3.
  • FIG. 5 is similar to FIG. 4, but viewed from a different from aspect.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation in the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean “at least one.”
  • FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of an electronic device assembly. The electronic device assembly includes a bottom plate 10 of an electronic device enclosure and a fan module 200. In one embodiment, the electronic device enclosure is a notebook computer enclosure.
  • The bottom plate 10 includes a plate body 11 and an installation frame 12. The plate body 11 defines a plurality of validation holes 112. In the illustrated embodiment, the installation frame 12 is “U” shaped. The installation frame 12 surrounds the plurality of validation holes 112. The plate body 11 may be, for example, made of plastic, and the installation frame 12 is integrated with the plate body 11.
  • The fan module 200 includes a fan 20, a cover 30, and a mounting member 50. The fan 20 includes a plurality of blades 21 and a rotating portion 23 connected to the plurality of blades 21. The rotating portion 23 includes a rotating shaft 231 and defines a mounting slot 232.
  • The cover 30 defines a plurality of air inlet 31, a through hole 32, two installation slots 33, and an inserting hole 35 in a distal end of each installation slot 33. In the illustrated embodiment, the cover 30 is substantially “U” shaped.
  • The mounting member 50 includes a mounting portion 51, two installation arms 53 extending from opposite ends of the mounting portion 51, and a mounting post 55 extending from a distal end of each installation arm 53.
  • FIG. 2 shows that, in assembly, the mounting member 50 and the fan 20 are positioned on opposite sides of the cover 30. The mounting portion 51 is inserted through the through hole 32 and engaged in the mounting slot 232. The mounting portion 51 is rotatable relative to the cover 30 in the through hole 32. The installation arm 53 is received in the installation slot 33, and the mounting post 55 is engaged in the inserting hole 35. Thus, the fan 20 is secured to the cover 30.
  • The fan module 200 is positioned in the installation frame 12. The cover 30 is secured to the installation frame 12 by screws or other conventional securing methods. Thus, the fan module 200 is secured to the bottom plate 10. The fan 20 is located between the cover 30 and the plate body 11. In use, the rotating shaft 231 is rotated by a motor (not shown) to rotate the blades 21, the rotating portion 23, and the mounting portion 51 relative to the cover 30.
  • Because the installation frame 12 is integrated with the plate body 11 and the fan module 200 is secured to the installation frame 12 directly through the cover 30, the fan module 200 eliminates the need for another cover and an additional securing process between the installation frame 12 and the other cover, which reduce cost and a results in a simpler securing process between the fan module 200 and the bottom plate 10.
  • FIG. 3 shows an alternative embodiment of an electronic device assembly. The electronic device assembly includes a bottom wall 60 of an electronic device enclosure and a fan module 200′. In the alternative embodiment, the electronic device enclosure is a keyboard enclosure, and the bottom wall 60 is a bottom plate of the keyboard enclosure (shown as in FIG. 5).
  • The bottom wall 60 defines a plurality of openings 61. In the alternative embodiment, the bottom wall 60 may be made of metal, for example.
  • The fan module 200′ includes a fan 20′, a cover 30′, a mounting member 50′, and a securing frame 70. The fan 20′ includes a plurality of blades 21′ and a rotating portion 23′ connected to the plurality of blades 21′. The rotating portion 23′ includes a rotating shaft 231′ and defines a mounting slot 232′.
  • The cover 30′ defines a plurality of air inlets 31′, a through hole 32′, and two installation slots 33′. The cover 30′ further defines an inserting hole 35′ in a distal end of each installation slot 33′. In the alternative embodiment, the cover 30′ is substantially “U” shaped.
  • The mounting member 50′ includes a mounting portion 51′ and two installation arms 53′ extending from opposite ends of the mounting portion 51′. The mounting member 50′ further includes a mounting post 55′ extending from a distal end of each installation arm 53′.
  • The securing frame 70 includes a “U” shaped frame body 71 and a securing piece 73 extending from the frame body 71.
  • FIG. 4 shows that in assembly, the mounting member 50′ and the fan 20′ are positioned in opposite sides of the cover 30′. The mounting portion 51′ is inserted through the through hole 32′ and engaged in the mounting slot 232′. The mounting portion 51′ is rotatable relative to the cover 30′ in the through hole 32′. The installation arm 53′ is received in the installation slot 33′, and the mounting post 55′ is engaged in the inserting hole 35′. Thus, the fan 20′ is secured to the cover 30′. The cover 30′ is secured to the frame body 71 by screws or other conventional securing methods. Thus, the fan module 200′ is assembled. The fan module 200′ is placed on the bottom wall 60 and above the opening 61. The securing piece 73 is secured to the bottom wall 60 by screws or other conventional securing methods. In use, the rotating shaft 231′ is rotated by a motor (not shown) to rotate the blades 21′, the rotating portion 23′, and the mounting portion 51′ relative to the cover 30′.
  • Because the fan module 200′ is secured to the bottom wall 60 directly through the securing frame 70, the fan module 200′ eliminates the need for another cover and an additional securing process between the frame body 71 and the other cover, which reduce cost and results in a simpler securing process between the fan module 200′ and the bottom wall 60.
  • It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages have been set forth in the foregoing description of embodiments, together with details of the structures and functions of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only and changes may be made in detail, especially in the matters of shape, size, and the arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure, to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
