Abstract
Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to a device for fastening cables.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Many electronic devices may be connected by several cables to other devices. These cables produce electromagnetic radiation. To test the condition of electro-magnetic interference (EMI) of the electronic devices, the cables are generally positioned at locations where the radiation of the cables is at the highest level. The cables are generally fastened by tapes or cable ties. However, the tapes or ties will not firmly accurately fasten the cables where desired.
- Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of an exemplary embodiment of a fastening device, together with a plurality of cables. -
FIG. 2 is an inverted view of the fastening device ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an exploded, isometric view ofFIG. 2 , but partially cutaway. -
FIG. 4 is a partial, sectional view taken along line VI-VI ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 5 is a sectional view taken along line VI-VI ofFIG. 1 , and shows a state of use. - The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
-
FIGS. 1 , 3, and 4 show an exemplary embodiment of a fastening device forcables 50 including afastener 20 and twopivot members 30. - The
fastener 20 includes arectangular base body 21 and along belt 22 extending forward from a front side of a top of thebase body 21. A throughslot 23 is defined in thebase body 21, extending through the front and rear side surfaces of thebase body 21. Anengaging portion 24 slantingly extends downward and forward from a rear side of atop wall 232 bounding the throughslot 23. A plurality oflatching slots 241 is defined in a bottom surface of theengaging portion 24, arranged in a fore-and-aft direction. Afront side surface 242 bounding eachlatching slot 241 is slanting forward and down. Arear side surface 243 bounding eachlatching slot 241 is substantially perpendicular to thetop wall 232. Two substantially rectangular throughholes 25 are respectively defined in left and right sides of thebase body 21. Twopivot holes 252 are respectively defined in front andrear sidewalls 251 bounding each throughhole 25. A plurality ofsuction cups 26 is attached to a bottom of thebase body 21. Arecess 27 is longitudinally defined in a top surface of thebelt 22. The width of therecess 27 is the same as the width of theengaging portion 24. A plurality oflatches 28 extends up from abottom wall 271 of therecess 27, arranged in a row along the lengthwise direction of thebelt 22. Eachlatch 28 is substantially wedge-shaped. A slanting guidingsurface 281 is formed on a front side of eachlatch 28. - Each
pivot member 30 includes apivot tab 31 and twopins 32 respectively extending from opposite sides of thepivot tab 31. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , in assembly, thepivot members 30 are inserted in the corresponding throughholes 25, to allow thepins 32 to engage in thecorresponding pivot holes 252. Thepivot tabs 31 respectively abut against opposite ends of a top surface bounding thefront latching slot 241 adjacent to the front end of theengaging portion 24. -
FIG. 5 shows in use, thebase body 21 is fastened to a desktop by thesuction cups 26. Thecables 50 are placed on the top surface of thebase body 21. Thebelt 22 is bent to bind thecables 50 together with the top surface of thebase body 21. A distal end of thebelt 22 away from thebase body 21 is inserted into the throughslot 23 from a rear side surface of thebase body 21. Thebelt 22 is slid along the bottom of theengaging portion 24, and is pulled out of the front side surface of thebase body 21. The distal end of thebelt 22 is further pulled forward, until thecables 50 are bundled tight between the top surface of thebase body 21 and thebelt 22. - When the
belt 22 is slid along theengaging portion 24, a lower portion of theengaging portion 24 is received in therecess 27. Parts of thelatches 28 engage with thecorresponding latching slots 241 guided by the guidingsurfaces 281, and disengage from thelatching slots 241 guided by thefront side surfaces 242. If thebelt 22 is pulled back along theengaging portion 24, thelatches 28 are blocked by therear side surfaces 243, which means thebelt 22 cannot be slid back along theengaging portion 24. Therefore, thebelt 22 will not loosen after thecables 50 are bundled tight. - To release the
cables 50, thepivot members 30 are rotated, to allow thepivot tabs 31 to drive theengaging portion 24 to move up. Thelatches 28 disengage from thelatching slots 241. Thebelt 22 can be slid back in the throughslot 23. - Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and the functions of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in details, especially in the matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the embodiments to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
