  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention pertains to the field of bedding, and more specifically to the field of bedding having storage modifications.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The perfect end to any day is a good night's sleep. An essential aspect of every human's life, a peaceful, full rest enables one to feel energetic and alert throughout the day. Although a person can fall asleep almost anywhere, lying on the couch watching television, reclining in an easy chair with a good book, during a boring movie, or even while riding in a car, by far the most comfortable and, of course, obvious area in which to sleep is a bed. Consisting of a comfortable mattress and fluffy, soft pillows and covered in soft sheets and warm blankets, it is little wonder that a person's bed can be their haven. As such, consumers often keep a variety of personal items nearby to facilitate comfort during the night. Whether a water bottle to quench one's thirst, a remote control to utilize on a restless night, or simply a pair of reading glasses for use in reading a passage from a favorite book before drifting off to sleep, there are a seemingly endless variety of items one might reach for in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, it is quite simple to lose track of these items, particularly if piled high on night stands or left throughout the home. Particularly, keeping track of such items as remote control units, eyeglasses and cellular telephones can prove especially challenging, because these goods are so necessary for day-to-day functioning. Should these appliances become lost or damaged, their users have no choice but to endure high replacement costs. The prior art has put forth several designs for bedding having storage modifications. Among these are:
  • U.S. Pat. No. 5,279,009 to David L. Putka describes a fitted bed sheet having a storage pocket at each side wall at a location readily accessible to a person while in bed. A closure in the form of a zipper closes the top of the pocket while a lock may secure the zipper in the closed condition. A flap is pivotably connected above the pocket to overlay and conceal the zipper.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,292,963 to Luc Couture describes a bedding accessory system which comprises a bed pocket having an opening therein and a fastening system which can be secured to the sheets of a bed without moving the mattress. The fastening system is a multipurpose one and can be adapted for different uses.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,594,836 to Scott Everson and Julie Everson describes a bedding element comprising a fitted bottom sheet having one or more elasticized convenience pouches sewn onto both lateral sides of the sheet. The purpose of the convenience pouches are to provide a suitable location for a person in bed to temporarily and conveniently store any number of items that are commonly used while in bed. The pouches are elasticized and open at the top to allow for easy access, and closed on the sides and bottom to keep stored items from falling out.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 8,046,852 to Fan Shi Hoo disclose a pocketed bed sheet with a pair of co-located pockets rectangular in shape.
  • None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
