The countersink-chisel A is a plain bit-,- of the required width for the countersink to the mortise, and is fastened by screws to the back of the slotted body, which slot or groove is adapted to the width of the mortising-chisel B, which slotted body has grooves on each side, at right angles to the vertical groove carrying the mortisingchisel, in which a shoulder clevis or clamp is carried, (marked a a.) The clevis orclamp, where in place on the body, carrying the countersinkchisel, forms an open space, suitable to go onto the mortising-chisel, which is wedged-shaped on its face, and tightens as its shoulders run up the incline plane face of the mortisingchisel.
b b b are set-screws for the purpose of adjusting the countersinking-chisel to the mortising-chisel B, and determine the required OSCAR J. PENNELL.
