Abstract
The present utility invention and ornamental design relates to a sock construction, particularly, to the assembly of a multi-top sock described herein.
The multi-top sock construction consists of one full outer sock with separate body of leg attachment that can be appended to the main sock. The body of the leg attachment(s) project(s) upward above the cuff of the main outer sock. The body of leg attachment(s) would be adhered to the main sock by sewn stitches, adhesive or through other conventional means. The attachment seam is concealed from view by the outer sock fabric.
This ornamental design of the sock provides the aforementioned platform for multiple advertising and logo exposure and increased brand recognition; a fresh and new idea in style such as a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 sock, yet the comfort of the sock we know, love and enjoy; visual appearance of a multi-top sock, yet the utility of a single sock; and convenience and simplicity of use.
Description
- 1. Field of Invention
- This utility invention concerns an article of apparel for the foot, particularly, a multi-top sock construction.
- This utility and ornamental design of the invented construction provides a visual impression of a multi-top sock, a platform for multiple advertising and logo exposure, a fresh and new idea in utility and style such as a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 sock, yet the comfort and utility of the classic sock we know, love and enjoy.
- 2. Background
- Prior to this invention, sock wearers wishing to wear multi-colored socks or display more than one logo have been limited to wearing double socks. This can be very uncomfortable, especially in warm weather, and/or with properly fitting shoes. As such, to enhance style, while upholding comfort and proper breathing of the foot, we have invented the multi-top sock.
- Although multiple layer socks have been developed for various applications, none incorporate both the style, as well as the comfort of one sock in the foot section. Additionally, most multi-layered socks have a thick seam closure at the toes for the double socks, hence resulting in discomfort.
- The claimed invention consists of an integrated sock construction incorporating a full outer sock, to which one or multiple body of leg sock portion(s) are attached. The attached upper partial sock portion(s) project(s) upwards from the said original full sock. The completed assembly provides a visual impression of a multi-top sock, a multi-platform for advertising and logo exposure, a fresh and stylish idea such as a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 sock, yet the comfort and utility of the classic sock we know, love and enjoy.

- In accordance with the diagrams and description herein, this utility invention and ornamental design provides a sock construction with a single foot section, and two or more body of leg portions attached. The upper partial body of leg is attached to the inner side of the complete sock, and project(s) upwards from the original full sock.
- The integrated sock affords the wearer the appearance of multiple socks, a versatile platform for combining multiple logo, design, style or color displays with aesthetic appeal, yet the comfort of one sock.
- The claimed utility and ornamental design attributes also benefit manufacturers by providing additional platforms for advertising logos, compared to one body of leg as in the most common typical sock construction.
- Additionally, from a cost-of-production perspective, the multi-top sock offers lower cost benefit due to less material used in construction, in comparison to double socks.
- The present utility invention and ornamental design is convenient and simple to use, and the sock construction can be worn by anybody that wears the typical sock.
- The drawings form part of the specification hereof With respect to the drawings, the following is briefly noted:
- Note: The broken lines in the figures are for illustrative purposes only and form no part of the claimed design.
-
FIG. 1 is a side view of the multi-top sock, showing the original complete sock, with a partial body of leg attached, and projecting upwards. The other side is symmetrical. -
FIG. 2 is a side view of a single body of leg attachment with an open-heel. - The invention can further be understood by consideration of the following detail, which should be read in conjunction with the drawings.
- This new utility offers a platform for one sock unit with attachment(s), hence creating the impression of multiple socks. The invention offers versatility in terms of: 1) Display of different color of body of leg attachment(s); 2) Display of more than one or more designs or logos, with one style, color or design on the complete outer sock, and other(s) on the upper body of the sock.
- The body of leg attachment(s) 1 would be adhered to the main sock 2 by sewn stitches, adhesive or through other conventional means. The
attachment seam 3 is concealed from view by the outer sock fabric. Theattachment 1 would project upwards from the body of leg of the original full sock 2, with the total construction supported by asingle foot section 4. Once completed, the construction affords the wearer the appearance of a multi-top sock, upon which versatile presentations such multiple designs, colors, styles or logos may be used and displayed. - The present invention has several advantages over double or multiple complete socks manufactured or worn:
- First, the utility of the multi-top sock provides a platform for multiple displays of logos or styles, all in a single sock. In addition to aesthetic appeal resulting from the aforementioned utilities, the multiple logos displayed place greater emphasis on the logo, and brand recognition.
- Secondly, multi-top socks are more efficient and faster to dry in a match up against double, triple or other socks.
- Thirdly, when evaluated against multiple full socks, another advantage of the multi-top sock is the well-known comfort of a single sock, but the appearance of multiple socks.
- Fourth, the style depicted by this invention is a fresh idea, with none like it in the market.
- Fifth, from a production cost perspective, based on cost of materials, the multi-top sock costs less to produce than a double or triple sock. As such, it reduces the costs of materials used, yet visually provides the manufacturer or wearer with the visual impression of a double sock.
- Additionally, most multi-layered socks have a thick seam closure at the toes for the double socks, hence resulting in discomfort. The multi-top sock may contain seam or none, similar to a classic sock.
- This ornamental design of the sock provides the aforementioned platform for multiple advertising and logo exposure for increased brand recognition; a fresh and new idea in style such as a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 sock, yet the comfort of the sock we know, love and enjoy; visual appearance of a multi-top sock, yet the utility of a single sock; and convenience and simplicity of use.
