Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO OTHER APPLICATIONS
  • This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 61/439,991 filed on Feb. 7, 2011.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of Invention
  • The present invention relates to a hanger designed for allowing the air-drying of a bra.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Clothing hangers are generally used to hang clothing in a closet or other storage area to minimize any wrinkling that may occur during storage. Hangers are designed in various styles and types. One of the most common hangers is a wire hanger, which is a loop of steel wire that is flattened in a triangle shape to support clothes that are placed thereon. Another type of hanger is a wooden hanger that consists of a flat piece of wood cut into a boomerang style/shape with edges sanded down to prevent damage to clothing. In addition to wood hangers, plastic coat hangers have also been developed to accommodate difference sizes or styles of clothing. Some hangers include clips or a bar design to hang trousers onto the hanger. In addition to merely hanging your clothes for storage purposes, hangers are also occasionally used for allowing wet clothing to hang for drying in ambient air. Users may utilize a traditional hanger such as a wire or wooden hanger, place the damp clothing on the hanger and place it in a suitable place for air-drying.
  • One particular piece of clothing that is a major concern of many women is their brassiere or bra. It's important for women to maintain the bra in its natural shape and to preserve the overall fit of the bra, consequently many women chose to air dry their bra after washing. It would therefore be desirable to have a device that assists in maintaining this fit while allowing the bra to air dry. Many women do not place their bras in a dryer and allow the bra to air dry to preserve the fit and condition of the bra for multiple uses. Consequently, it would be advantageous to have a hanger that is specifically designed for air-drying a bra.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a bra hanger assembly for hanging a bra comprising: a hanger portion; a hook, where said hook extends upwardly from the hanger portion; a first panel and a second panel extending below the hanger; and a first cup holder on the first panel and second cup holder on the second panel, where the cup holders provide a means to support a bra that is placed upon the bra hanger assembly. The hanger portion may be shaped in a boomerang shape and in one particular embodiment the hook rotates. The bra hanger assembly may further include an adjustable horizontal width between the first cup holder and the second cup holder to accommodate different bra sizes. Furthermore, the first cup holder and the second cup holder may each include an adjustable depth, where each depth adjusts to accommodate various bra cup sizes.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1A provides a front view of an air-dry hanger according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 1B provides a side view of the air-dry hanger according to the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present invention relates to a hanger that is specifically designed to provide a means for the air-drying of a bra. The present invention allows for the bra to be placed upon the device that has adjustable components to allow for different size bras both in terms of cup size and width. The present invention includes a hanger that may be placed upon a pole or other stationary object for the hanging of the bra for air-drying. The invention further includes cup holders that insert in the cups of the bra and allow for the bra to be firmly placed over the holders during the drying process. The holders help to maintain the overall shape and fit of the bra.
  • FIG. 1 depicts a front view of a Bra Hanger Assembly 100 according to the present invention. The assembly includes a Hanger Portion 30 that is shaped in a manner similar to a conventional hanger with a Hook 32. The Hook 32 provides a means to hang the Hanger 30 and may rotate as shown to add in the positioning of the Hanger 30 during use. Below the Hanger 30 are Cup Holders 22 a, 22 b. The cup holders 22 a, 22 b are positioned on a first panel 20 a and a second panel 20 b as shown in FIG. 1A. These cup holders 22 a, 22 b provide a means to support a bra that is placed upon the bra hanger assembly 100. As shown, the width between the cup holders 22 a, 22 b is adjustable to accommodate difference bra sizes and further the cup holders 22 a, 22 b are expandable to accommodate various cup sizes. The Hanger 30 may also include Indentations 31 a, 31 b, which provide a support means for bra straps.
  • FIG. 1B depicts a side view of the hanger assembly according to the present invention. The side view shows cup holder 22 a extending outwardly from the first panel 20 a. The cup holder 22 a expands in depth as depicted in FIG. 1B. The depth expansion allows for the fit of the cup holder 22 a to adjust to accommodate various sizes of bra cups. It is well known that bra cup sizes may range from AA up to F plus in size. The cup holder 22 a according to the present invention expands to accommodate the various bra cup sizes.
  • The hanger assembly according to the present invention serves as a device to place a bra to allow for air-drying of the bra after the washing thereof. The adjustment of the cup holders allows the device to accommodate to the form of the bra's physical shape and therefore helps maintain the overall shape of the bra during the drying process. By using the hanger 32 the bra hanger assembly may be placed on any rack protrusion or rod to hang the bra for drying. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
