Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a glove with an attached writing surface and writing utensil to enable a user to record information directly on the glove.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • It is common practice for people to wear protective garments while working construction, playing sports, working out, gardening and the like. One of the most widely used pieces of protective wear is gloves. Gloves protect the user's hand from the rough materials handled by the user to ensure no damaged is caused. Additionally, the gloves prevent excessive rubbing on the user's skin which in turn prevents blisters and calluses from developing.
  • Often, construction workers, electricians, weight lifters and athletes need to write down information or notes to remember details of the task they're performing. For example, a construction worker may need to tabulate the dimensions of a room, an electrician may note a device's readout, or a weight lifter may record the amount of weight lifted. On each occurrence, the person must search for a pen and a notepad to write their information. This may take away from time spent actually working and create a disorganized work space. While some individuals prepare for necessary note taking by keeping a pad and paper in their tool belt or near their workout equipment, others may use their hand or arm to write the data.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,627,110 by Anthony M. Tengs discloses a article of wearing apparel with an erasable writing surface, wherein a shirt includes a writing surface on the front portion to enable a person to write information on the writing surface and then remove the surface for repeated use. While this shirt does allow for a writable garment, a user would find it difficult to legibly write on their chest or stomach at a work site.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,922,850 by Michael J. Conley discloses a golf glove with stroke counter wherein a glove is equipped with a golf stroke counter to record the number of strokes a player makes during a round of golf. This device is helpful for golf but only serves a specific purpose. Also the golf glove does not have the ability to enter or record alternative data.
  • It would be desirable in the art to provide a protective garment that enables a user to record data while continuing to work. It would also be beneficial in the art to provide a garment contains both a writing surface and writing utensil.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a protective garment, specifically a glove with a writing surface to enable a user to record data directly on the writing surface.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a holder attached to the glove to secure the writing utensil when not in use.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an erasable writing surface and writing utensil combination so that the user may erase the markings when no longer required.
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a writing glove comprising a glove, where the glove covers a hand of a user, a writing surface attached to a backside of the glove, a holder attached beside the writing surface on the backside of the glove, and a writing utensil secured within the holder wherein the writing utensil enables the user to record information on the writing surface. The writing utensil and the writing surface create an erasable combination to enable the user to repeatedly write on the writing surface.
  • These together with other aspects of the present invention, along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed hereto and form a part of this present invention. For a better understanding of the present invention, its operating advantages, and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be made to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The advantages and features of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following detailed description and claims taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein like elements are identified with like symbols, and in which:
  • FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of a writing glove in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 1A depicts an enlarged view of a holder in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 2 depicts a perspective view of a writing glove in accordance with an alternative embodiment of the present invention.
  • Like reference numerals refer to like parts throughout the description of several views of the drawings.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention relates to a glove with an attached writing surface and writing utensil to enable a user to record information directly on the glove. The present invention provides a writing glove as a hand protector and a writing surface. A user may quickly transition from their current task to writing instantly, without having to search for a pad and paper for their note. The writing glove is composed of a comfortable fabric material with the writing surface affixed to a backside of the glove. In addition, a pocket or holder is attached beside the writing surface to contain the writing utensil. In the event that a user wishes to document data, they may simply remove the writing utensil from the holder, write directly on the writing surface and then return the writing utensil to the holder for later use. When the data is no longer needed the user may simply erase the markings from the writing surface for the next data entry. The writing glove allows for expeditious recording of information without loss of quality production time.
  • Tuning now descriptively to the drawings, referring to FIG. 1, a perspective view of a writing glove (10) is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The writing glove (10) comprises a glove (12) to cover a hand of the user. The glove (12) may be a utility glove, work glove, ski glove, driving glove, fashion glove, workout glove, sport glove or similarly styled hand covering. The glove (12) may provide full hand coverage or may be a fingerless glove for additional range of motion for the user's fingers. The material used for the glove (12) may be leather, vinyl, cloth, wool or any other commonly used glove making material.
  • Centrally positioned on a backside of the glove (12) is a writing surface (14). The writing surface (14) may be sewn or glued to the glove (12) for secure attachment. The writing surface (14) may be a rectangular or circular piece of plastic or fabric that is flexible yet durable for extended use. The writing surface (14) may cover the greater portion of the back of the user's hand for a sufficiently large surface to write notes, dimension, reminders, directions, lists, workouts, game plays, and the like. The writing surface (14) may be attached to either a right hand or a left hand glove to accommodate both right and left handed users.
  • Attached beside the writing surface (14) on the backside of the glove (12) is a holder (16). The holder (16) may be a pocket (as shown) or a strap to envelope and secure a writing utensil to the glove (12). The holder (16) may include a flap (18) to prevent any contents of the holder (16) from spilling or falling out. The flap (18) may be secured to the holder (16) with a hook and loop fastener (more commonly known as Velcro®), a snap or a strap of fabric. The holder (16) may be made of a similar material as the glove (12) or a stretchy elastic or nylon to snugly attach the writing utensil.
  • Accordingly, referring to FIG. 1A, an enlarged view of the holder (16) is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 1A illustrates the writing utensil (20) inside of the holder (16). The writing utensil (20) may be a lead pencil, a grease pencil, a dry erase marker or pen, a piece of chalk or another type of commonly used erasable writing utensil.
  • The writing surface (14) and the writing utensil (20) are coordinating elements so that together they create an erasable combination to enable the user to repeatedly write on the writing surface (14). For example, if the writing surface (14) is a clear plastic material the writing utensil (20) would be the grease pencil or dry erase marker or pen to wipe away the marks after use. Likewise, if the writing surface (14) is a piece of fabric then the writing utensil (20) would be the pencil or piece of chalk. By combining the writing surface (14), the holder (16) and the writing utensil (20) on the glove (12) the user may quickly and easily write a note and then return to the task they were performing without having to take the time to look for a pad and paper.
  • Referring now to FIG. 2, a perspective view of a writing glove (100) is shown in accordance with an alternative embodiment of the present invention. The writing glove (100) is similar to the first embodiment of the writing glove (10), in that it includes a glove (102), a writing surface (104) and a holder (106). Additionally the writing glove (100) includes a writing utensil (108). Attached between an end of the writing utensil (108) and a wrist portion of the glove (102) may be a leash (110). The leash (110) connects the writing utensil (108) to the glove (102) so that the user may never lose the writing utensil (108). The leash (110) may be a chain, strap, ribbon, elastic strip, string or the like to provide a safety restraint therefore keeping the writing utensil (108) attached to the glove (102) even if removed from the holder (106).
