Abstract
The dual shower head curtain support fixture is designed to facilitate the efficient and enjoyable showering of two users. This fixture will allow two users to simultaneously bath in the same amount of time as bathing alone due to both users having constant access to a water source. This objective is achieved by bending, welding, and coating a half inch water pipe into the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
Description
- This invention relates to personal showers, and in particular a dual shower head design that is intended to solve the problem of bathing two users in a standard bathtub.
- Prior patents U.S. Pat. No. 3,822,826 to Wilson, U.S. Pat. No. 3,913,839 to Wilson, Pat. No. 5,564,139 to Shorr, U.S. Pat. No. 5,692,252 to Zwezdaryk, U.S. Pat. No. 6,079,060 to Walker, and U.S. Pat. No. Des. 401,680 all deal with the issue of bathing two users at the same time. However, none of these inventions deal with the aesthetics of installing such a device, or the potential for the device to be used as a more integral part of the shower surround.
- The dual shower head curtain support fixture solves the current arts' issues of aesthetics and integration, by matching all currently offered finishes for bathroom fixtures, and by incorporating the function of a shower curtain rod which efficiently utilizes all design elements as part of the shower surround.
-
FIG. 1 is a front view depicting the fixture as it would look installed. -
FIG. 2 is a top view depicting all the elements of the fixture. - As seen on the attached illustration, in
FIG. 2 , the dual shower head curtain support fixture is designed to attach to a single shower water outlet [7] to accommodate two shower heads. This is achieved by forming a length of half inch water pipe into a modified “U” shape [1] 56″ to 62″ wide, and 16″ to 21″ deep, to accommodate the varied widths of a standard sixty inch shower enclosure. Once formed, a modified spigot [2] is welded to the primary end of the fixture. Standard half inch water pipe connectors [3] and [4] are used to attach the modified spigot [2] to the existing water outlet [7] located within the wall. There is one showerhead (not shown) at each opposing end of the water pipe, and one standard flow interrupter valve [6] located directly between the end of the pipe [9] and the showerhead (not shown), on the auxiliary side. Once completely bent, and welded, the fixture will be coated with a low VOC waterborne metal coating such as Geomet® by Metal Coatings International, Inc. to prevent corrosion, and coated to match all currently available fixture finishes. Since the fixture is completely rigid it is designed to be secured to the existing walls with four half inch conduit “U” brackets [5] into the existing studs, if possible, or anchored into the wall. The “U” brackets [5] will also be coated to match the fixture. Any standard, or handheld, shower head can be attached to the primary and auxiliary outlets.
Claims (1)
1. The dual shower head curtain support fixture is designed to replace both the original shower head arm, to accommodate two shower heads instead of one, and the shower curtain rod, to fully integrate the fixture into the shower surround. This device is designed for complete functionality by maintaining the original height, and adjustment, of a standard shower head on both the primary and auxiliary sides.
Wherein the improvement comprises utilizing the full length of the fixture to support a standard shower enclosure curtain through the use of a “U” design.
