Abstract
A waterproof mechanism includes a seat body, a waterproof rubber ring and a board body. The seat body has a first receiving space and a second receiving space in communication therewith. The second receiving space is longer and wider than the first receiving space. A platform is formed at a junction between the first and second receiving spaces. An inclined sidewall extends from the platform to surround and define the second receiving space. The waterproof rubber ring is disposed in the second receiving space in tight abutment with the platform and formed with a perforation in communication with the first receiving space. The waterproof rubber ring has an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The inner periphery is formed with a connection channel for connecting with the board body. The outer periphery is formed with a protrusion section protruding from the outer periphery to the inclined sidewall in abutment therewith.
Description
- The present invention relates to a waterproof mechanism, and more particularly to a waterproof mechanism having multiple waterproof seals to enhance waterproof performance and achieve excellent waterproof effect.
- Please refer to
FIGS. 1A , 1B and 1C. A conventionalwaterproof mechanism 1 includes awaterproof rubber ring 10, aboard body 13 and aseat body 15. Theseat body 15 includes a firstreceiving space 151 and a secondreceiving space 152. Aplatform 154 is formed at the junction between the first andsecond receiving spaces upright sidewall 155 extends from theplatform 154 to surround and define the secondreceiving space 152. Thewaterproof rubber ring 10 is disposed in the secondreceiving space 152. Thewaterproof rubber ring 10 is formed with aperforation 101 in communication with the firstreceiving space 151. Thewaterproof rubber ring 10 has an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The inner periphery is formed with aconnection channel 103 for connecting with theboard body 13. The outer periphery is leaned against thesidewall 155. A bottom section of thewaterproof rubber ring 10 abuts against theplatform 154 as a waterproof seal 16 (as shown inFIG. 1C ). - In the case that external water/vapor or liquid infiltrates through the gap between the
sidewall 155 of theseat body 15 and the outer periphery of thewaterproof rubber ring 10, thewaterproof seal 16 of thewaterproof mechanism 1 is able to stop the water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into the firstreceiving space 151 of thewaterproof mechanism 1. Accordingly, thewaterproof mechanism 1 can provide a waterproof effect. - However, the conventional
waterproof mechanism 1 can only provide a limited waterproof effect. This is because that due to the weight of theboard body 13, a downward pressing force is applied to thewaterproof rubber ring 10. In this case, no component force directed to thesidewall 155 is applied to the outer periphery of thewaterproof rubber ring 10. Therefore, no additional waterproof seal is provided between the outer periphery of thewaterproof rubber ring 10 and thesidewall 155 to enhance the waterproof effect. Under such circumstance, the conventionalwaterproof mechanism 1 has only one singlewaterproof seal 16, (that is, the bottom section of thewaterproof rubber ring 10 that abuts against the platform 154), for preventing the water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into thewaterproof mechanism 1. Once the water/vapor or liquid infiltrates through thewaterproof seal 16, the water/vapor or liquid can infiltrate into the firstreceiving space 151 without being stopped by any other protection means (such as other waterproof seal). As a result, an article received in thefirst receiving space 151, (such as an electronic product, a 3C product, an LED product, a product likely to become damp or the like) may be damped with the water/vapor or liquid. - According to the aforesaid, the conventional waterproof mechanism has the following shortcomings:
- 1. The waterproof effect of the conventional waterproof mechanism is poor.
- 2. The conventional waterproof mechanism only has one single waterproof seal.
- 3. The conventional waterproof mechanism has poor waterproof performance.
- A primary object of the present invention is to provide a waterproof mechanism having excellent waterproof effect.
- A further object of the present invention is to provide the above waterproof mechanism having multiple waterproof seals for enhancing waterproof performance.
- To achieve the above and other objects, the waterproof mechanism of the present invention includes: a board body; a seat body having a first receiving space and a second receiving space in communication with the first receiving space, the second receiving space being longer and wider than the first receiving space, whereby a platform is formed at a junction between the first and second receiving spaces, an inclined sidewall extending from the platform to surround and define the second receiving space; and a waterproof rubber ring disposed in the second receiving space in tight abutment with the platform. The waterproof rubber ring is formed with a perforation in communication with the first receiving space. The waterproof rubber ring has an inner periphery defining the perforation and an outer periphery leaned against the inclined sidewall. The inner periphery is formed with a connection channel for connecting with the board body. The outer periphery is formed with a protrusion section protruding from the outer periphery to the inclined sidewall in abutment therewith. The waterproof mechanism of the present invention has multiple waterproof seals to enhance waterproof performance and achieve excellent waterproof effect.
- The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIGS. 2 , 3 and 4A. According to a preferred embodiment, thewaterproof mechanism 2 of the present invention includes aboard body 20, aseat body 22 and awaterproof rubber ring 24. Theseat body 22 has a first receivingspace 221 for receiving an article (such as an electronic product, a 3C product, an LED product, a product likely to become damp, a communication product or the like). Theseat body 22 further has a second receivingspace 222 positioned above the first receivingspace 221 in communication therewith. The secondreceiving space 222 is longer and wider than the firstreceiving space 221, whereby aplatform 223 is formed at the junction between the first andsecond receiving spaces inclined sidewall 224 extends from theplatform 223 to surround and define the secondreceiving space 222. Please refer toFIG. 4A , which is a sectional assembled view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention. Theplatform 223 is formed as a step section of theseat body 22. - The
waterproof rubber ring 24 is disposed in thesecond receiving space 222 in tight abutment with theplatform 223. Thewaterproof rubber ring 24 is formed with aperforation 241 in communication with thefirst receiving space 221. Thewaterproof rubber ring 24 has aninner periphery 243 defining theperforation 241 and anouter periphery 244 leaned against theinclined sidewall 224. Theinner periphery 243 is formed with aconnection channel 2431 for connecting with theboard body 20. Theouter periphery 244 is formed with aprotrusion section 245 protruding from theouter periphery 244 to theinclined sidewall 224 in abutment therewith. Theprotrusion section 245 has at least onefirst protrusion flange 2451 and at least onesecond protrusion flange 2452. The first andsecond protrusion flanges outer periphery 244 in immediate adjacency to each other (not shown) or at intervals (as shown inFIG. 4A ). - In addition, in accordance with the demands of appearance and waterproof effect of the
waterproof mechanism 2, theouter periphery 244 of thewaterproof rubber ring 24 can be designed with an inclination equal to or unequal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224. That is, theouter periphery 244 can be parallel to theinclined sidewall 224 and have an inclination equal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224 as shown inFIG. 4A . Alternatively, theouter periphery 244 can be unparallel to theinclined sidewall 224 and have an inclination unequal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224. In this embodiment, theouter periphery 244 has an inclination equal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224 for illustration purposes only. - Referring to
FIG. 4A as well asFIG. 3 , thefirst protrusion flange 2451 protrudes from theouter periphery 244 to theinclined sidewall 224. Thefirst protrusion flange 2451 has the configuration of a semicircle, a semi-ellipse or any other suitable geometric pattern. Thefirst protrusion flange 2451 tightly abuts against theinclined sidewall 224 as a firstwaterproof seal 26 for hindering (or stopping) external water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into thewaterproof mechanism 2. Due to the weight of theboard body 20, a downward pressing force is applied to thewaterproof rubber ring 24. In this case, a downward pressing force is simultaneously applied to thefirst protrusion flange 2451 of thewaterproof rubber ring 24 to make thefirst protrusion flange 2451 tightly abut against theinclined sidewall 224 to form the firstwaterproof seal 26. - The
second protrusion flange 2452 is positioned below thefirst protrusion flange 2451 and protrudes from theouter periphery 244 to theinclined sidewall 224. Thesecond protrusion flange 2452 has the configuration of a semicircle, a semi-ellipse or any other suitable geometric pattern. Thesecond protrusion flange 2452 tightly abuts against theinclined sidewall 224 as a secondwaterproof seal 27 for hindering (or stopping) external water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into thewaterproof mechanism 2. In similarity to the firstwaterproof seal 26, due to the weight of theboard body 20, a downward pressing force is applied to thesecond protrusion flange 2452 of thewaterproof rubber ring 24 to make thesecond protrusion flange 2452 tightly abut against theinclined sidewall 224 to form the secondwaterproof seal 27. - The
first protrusion flange 2451 protrudes from theouter periphery 244 by a protrusion length. Thesecond protrusion flange 2452 also protrudes from theouter periphery 244 by a protrusion length. The protrusion length of thefirst protrusion flange 2451 is larger than or equal to the protrusion length of thesecond protrusion flange 2452. In the case that the inclination of theouter periphery 244 is equal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224, the protrusion length of thefirst protrusion flange 2451 is equal to the protrusion length of the second protrusion flange 2452 (as shown inFIG. 4A ). In the case that the inclination of theouter periphery 244 is unequal to the inclination of theinclined sidewall 224, the protrusion length of thefirst protrusion flange 2451 will be larger than the protrusion length of the second protrusion flange 2452 (as shown inFIG. 4B ). - Furthermore, a bottom section of the
waterproof rubber ring 24 tightly attaches to and abuts against theplatform 223 as a thirdwaterproof seal 28. In similarity to the first and secondwaterproof seals board body 20, a downward pressing force is applied to thewaterproof rubber ring 24 to make the bottom section thereof tightly abut against theplatform 223 to form the thirdwaterproof seal 28. The thirdwaterproof seal 28 also serves to hinder external water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into thewaterproof mechanism 2. - When the
waterproof mechanism 2 is placed in an environment where external water/vapor or liquid is likely to infiltrate into thewaterproof mechanism 2, the firstwaterproof seal 26 of thewaterproof rubber ring 24 serves to first stop (or hinder) external water/vapor or liquid from infiltrating into thewaterproof mechanism 2. In case that the external water/vapor or liquid unexpectedly infiltrates through the firstwaterproof seal 26, the second and thirdwaterproof seals waterproof mechanism 2. Accordingly, the article received in thefirst receiving space 221 is protected from being damped with the water/vapor or liquid. Thewaterproof mechanism 2 of the present invention has multiple waterproof seals to enhance waterproof performance and achieve excellent waterproof effect. - According to the aforesaid, the waterproof mechanism of the present invention has the following advantages over the prior art:
- 1. The waterproof mechanism of the present invention is able to provide excellent waterproof effect.
- 2. The waterproof mechanism of the present invention has better waterproof performance.
- 3. The waterproof mechanism of the present invention has multiple waterproof seals.
- The above embodiments are only used to illustrate the present invention, not intended to limit the scope thereof. It is understood that many changes and modifications of the above embodiments can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. The scope of the present invention is limited only by the appended claims.
Claims (13)
1. A waterproof mechanism comprising:
a board body;
a seat body having a first receiving space and a second receiving space in communication with the first receiving space, the second receiving space being longer and wider than the first receiving space, whereby a platform is formed at a junction between the first and second receiving spaces, an inclined sidewall extending from the platform to surround and define the second receiving space; and
a waterproof rubber ring disposed in the second receiving space in tight abutment with the platform, the waterproof rubber ring being formed with a perforation in communication with the first receiving space, the waterproof rubber ring having an inner periphery defining the perforation and an outer periphery leaned against the inclined sidewall, the inner periphery being formed with a connection channel for connecting with the board body, the outer periphery being formed with a protrusion section protruding from the outer periphery to the inclined sidewall in abutment therewith.
2. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the protrusion section has at least one first protrusion flange protruding from the outer

The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the protrusion section has at least one second protrusion flange positioned below the first protrusion flange, the second protrusion section protruding from the outer periphery to the inclined sidewall, the second protrusion flange tightly abutting against the inclined sidewall as a second waterproof seal.
4. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the first protrusion flange protrudes from the outer periphery by a protrusion length and the second protrusion flange also protrudes from the outer periphery by a protrusion length, the protrusion length of the first protrusion flange being larger than or equal to the protrusion length of the second protrusion flange.
5. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a bottom section of the waterproof rubber ring tightly attaches to and abuts against the platform as a third waterproof seal.
6. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 4 , wherein a bottom section of the waterproof rubber ring tightly attaches to and abuts against the platform as a third waterproof seal.
7. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the outer periphery has an inclination equal to an inclination of the inclined sidewall.
8. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the outer periphery has an inclination unequal to an inclination of the inclined sidewall.
9. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the first and second protrusion flanges are formed on the outer periphery in immediate adjacency to each other or at intervals.
10. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the first and second protrusion flanges are formed on the outer periphery in immediate adjacency to each other or at intervals.
11. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the first and second protrusion flanges have the configuration of a semicircle, a semi-ellipse or any other suitable geometric pattern.
12. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the first and second protrusion flanges have the configuration of a semicircle, a semi-ellipse or any other suitable geometric pattern.
13. The waterproof mechanism as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the platform is formed as a step section of the seat body.
