Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Technical Field
  • The present disclosure relates to a computer desk.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Computers are widely used. Therefore, computer desks are necessary to hold these computers. In general, a computer may include a host and a display, such as a liquid crystal display. When the computer is used, the host is positioned under a computer desk, and the display is positioned on top of the computer desk. However, when the computer is not used, the display still occupies space of the desktop of the computer desk. The exposed display may be easily get soiled by dust or even scratched. Therefore there is room for improvement in the art.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded, isometric view of an embodiment of a computer desk, the computer desk including a cover.
  • FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of a circled portion II of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of a circled portion III of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 4 is an assembled, isometric view of the computer desk of FIG. 1 shown without the cover.
  • FIG. 5 is an assembled, isometric view of the computer desk of FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
  • Referring to FIG. 1, an embodiment of a computer desk 100 includes a desk body 10 with a desktop 12, a liquid crystal display (LCD) 20, and a cover 30. The desk body 10 except for the desktop 12 falls within well-known technologies, and is therefore not described here.
  • The desktop 12 of the desk body 10 defines a first groove 14 to receive the cover 30. When the cover 30 is arranged in the first groove 14, the top surface of the cover 30 and the desktop 12 are substantially coplanar. Namely, the thickness of the cover 30 is substantially equal to the depth of the first groove 14.
  • A bottom of the first groove 14 defines a second groove 16 for receiving the LCD 20. When the LCD 20 is arranged in the second groove 16, the back surface of the LCD 20 and the bottom of the first groove 14 are substantially coplanar. Namely, the thickness of the LCD 20 is substantially equal to the depth of the second groove 16.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, a rear side of a bottom of the second groove 16 defines a substantially long third groove 17 and two fourth grooves 18 communicating with opposite ends of the third groove 17 respectively. A middle of the bottom of the third groove 17 defines a through whole 15. The bottom of each fourth groove 18 defines two fastener holes 19.
  • Referring to FIG. 2, two protrusions 22 respectively extend from opposite ends of the bottom of the LCD 20, corresponding to the fourth grooves 18. Each protrusion 22 defines a round notch 222 opposing each other. The LCD 20 further includes two fixing elements 23. Each fixing element 23 includes a cylindrical rotation portion 235 and a fixing portion 232 connected to the rotation portion 235. Each fixing portion 232 defines two through holes 234 corresponding to the fastener holes 19 of a corresponding fourth groove 18 of the desk body 10.
  • Referring to FIG. 4, in assembly, the rotation portions 235 of the fixing elements 23 are respectively inserted into the round notches 222 of the protrusions 22. The bottom side of the LCD 20 is inserted in the third groove 17, with the protrusions 22 and the corresponding fixing elements 23 respectively inserted in the corresponding fourth grooves 18. Four fasteners 25 are inserted through the through holes 234 of the fixing elements 23 and are fastened into the fastener holes 19 of the desk body 10. Therefore, the LCD 20 is rotatably fixed in the second groove 16 of the desk body 10. Data and power cables 24 of the LCD 20 can extend through the through hole 15 to connect to a host (not shown) under the desk body 10. When the LCD 20 is to be used, the LCD 20 is rotated out of the second groove 16 to a vertical position with respect to the desktop 12. In other embodiments, the connection between the LCD 20 and the desktop 12 of the desk body 10 can be designed in other modes.
  • Referring to FIG. 5, when the LCD 20 is not in use, the LCD 20 is rotated to the second groove 16, and the cover 30 is then placed in the first groove 14. Therefore, the LCD 20 is hidden under the desktop 12 of the desk body 10, which can save space, prevent the LCD 20 from scratches, and keep out dust.
  • It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the embodiments to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
