Abstract
Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to a computer desk.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Computers are widely used. Therefore, computer desks are necessary to hold these computers. In general, a computer may include a host and a display, such as a liquid crystal display. When the computer is used, the host is positioned under a computer desk, and the display is positioned on top of the computer desk. However, when the computer is not used, the display still occupies space of the desktop of the computer desk. The exposed display may be easily get soiled by dust or even scratched. Therefore there is room for improvement in the art.
- Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded, isometric view of an embodiment of a computer desk, the computer desk including a cover. -
FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of a circled portion II ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of a circled portion III ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 4 is an assembled, isometric view of the computer desk ofFIG. 1 shown without the cover. -
FIG. 5 is an assembled, isometric view of the computer desk ofFIG. 1 . - The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , an embodiment of acomputer desk 100 includes adesk body 10 with adesktop 12, a liquid crystal display (LCD) 20, and acover 30. Thedesk body 10 except for thedesktop 12 falls within well-known technologies, and is therefore not described here. - The
desktop 12 of thedesk body 10 defines afirst groove 14 to receive thecover 30. When thecover 30 is arranged in thefirst groove 14, the top surface of thecover 30 and thedesktop 12 are substantially coplanar. Namely, the thickness of thecover 30 is substantially equal to the depth of thefirst groove 14. - A bottom of the
first groove 14 defines asecond groove 16 for receiving theLCD 20. When theLCD 20 is arranged in thesecond groove 16, the back surface of theLCD 20 and the bottom of thefirst groove 14 are substantially coplanar. Namely, the thickness of theLCD 20 is substantially equal to the depth of thesecond groove 16. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , a rear side of a bottom of thesecond groove 16 defines a substantially longthird groove 17 and twofourth grooves 18 communicating with opposite ends of thethird groove 17 respectively. A middle of the bottom of thethird groove 17 defines a through whole 15. The bottom of eachfourth groove 18 defines twofastener holes 19. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , twoprotrusions 22 respectively extend from opposite ends of the bottom of theLCD 20, corresponding to thefourth grooves 18. Eachprotrusion 22 defines around notch 222 opposing each other. TheLCD 20 further includes twofixing elements 23. Eachfixing element 23 includes acylindrical rotation portion 235 and afixing portion 232 connected to therotation portion 235. Eachfixing portion 232 defines two throughholes 234 corresponding to thefastener holes 19 of a correspondingfourth groove 18 of thedesk body 10. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , in assembly, therotation portions 235 of thefixing elements 23 are respectively inserted into theround notches 222 of theprotrusions 22. The bottom side of theLCD 20 is inserted in thethird groove 17, with theprotrusions 22 and thecorresponding fixing elements 23 respectively inserted in the correspondingfourth grooves 18. Fourfasteners 25 are inserted through the throughholes 234 of thefixing elements 23 and are fastened into thefastener holes 19 of thedesk body 10. Therefore, theLCD 20 is rotatably fixed in thesecond groove 16 of thedesk body 10. Data and power cables 24 of theLCD 20 can extend through the throughhole 15 to connect to a host (not shown) under thedesk body 10. When theLCD 20 is to be used, theLCD 20 is rotated out of thesecond groove 16 to a vertical position with respect to thedesktop 12. In other embodiments, the connection between theLCD 20 and thedesktop 12 of thedesk body 10 can be designed in other modes. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , when theLCD 20 is not in use, theLCD 20 is rotated to thesecond groove 16, and thecover 30 is then placed in thefirst groove 14. Therefore, theLCD 20 is hidden under thedesktop 12 of thedesk body 10, which can save space, prevent theLCD 20 from scratches, and keep out dust. - It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the embodiments to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
