Abstract

One embodiment of a rectangular funnel for filling bags and of the type having panels leading to an opening for the debris to pass through, as well as legs Allowing the bag to be filled conveniently and the funnel removed with little effort.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the benefit of provisional patent application Ser. No. 61/374,952 Filed 2010 Aug. 18 by the present inventor.

People who cut their grass and sometimes wish to remove leaves from their lawn generally have to use bags to put the yard waste in.
The act of getting the cut grass or leaves or yard waste into the bags was a hassle. The bags weather plastic or paper would fall over and thus made the process difficult and sometimes required two people.
This lead to several types of bag holder designs which would change the process of loading bags to a one person job; however, these designs proved to be hideous. One of the designs was a metal rod shaped to hold bags but this only hold plastic bags and can fold prematurely if accidentally kicked or struck.
The“Lawn Funnel” developed a way to hold paper and plastic bags, but is large and bulky.
The Lawn Funnel was made like a large cylindrical garbage with the bottom cut out, and had a round wide extended rim at the top. This was put inside the plastic or paper lawn bag and the waste was funneled into these bags; however it was difficult to remove the funnel from the bag once they were filled. The cost of the funnel due to the amount of plastic material used to make it, out weighed the benefits.

SUMMARY

The embodiment allow for ease of filling a variety of bags with ease, and provide a convenient way to sweep up dirt as a dust-pan.

ADVANTAGES

The advantages is to provide a easily removable funnel once the bags are filled, and be able to fill many types of bags such as cloth laundry bags, plastic garbage bags and paper lawn bags. The Bag Support Funnels can also be stacked within each other for easier shipping.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

One embodiment of the rectangular funnel inlet is illustrated by letter A which can be called the body panels.
These are four panels which come together to form a large opening which is indicated by the letter A.
The letter A indicates an embodiment which the other embodiments extend from and Can be considered the body of the funnel. Consisting of four trapezoid shaped panels the Body seen FIG. 1-6 is where all other embodiments are connected too.
Finally, there are four tapered elongated support members seen as letter B, These embodiments extend from the body (A). The tapered legs are means for multiple bags support apparatuses to stack within each other. The complete Bag Support Funnel is made of molded plastic.

OPERATION

The manner in which the funnel is used is by first inserting it into a bag, This is done by turning the funnel upside down so that it sits on its body (A) with the legs (B} extending upwards. While in this position the bag support is adapted to easily have a lawn or trash bag put over the four extended legs and lowered down to the body until the bottom of the bag is resting on the legs. At this point, if a cloth laundry bag or a plastic bag is being used, the top of the bag (Which is now around the body of the funnel) can be sealed around the body with a string or elastic cord. When using a paper lawn bag there is no need to seal it. The funnel (with the bag attached), can now be turned upright. At this point debris can be inserted into the funnel and fill the bag.
Once the bag is filled, the funnel can be removed by first eliminating or untieing the String or cord (if they were used) and holding the funnel by the underside of the body panels and raise it out of the bag. The bag is now full.

ADVANTAGES

There are a few advantages my funnel offers which make it stand out among anything other funnels.

- (a) the funnel can be used with different sorts of bags—plastic, paper, cloth
- (b) its easier to load and unload a bag on the funnel
- (c) once a bag is loaded onto the funnel, trash can be put in the bag with out using a dustpan by laying it on its side and sweeping the debris up the lip and into the bag. This technique can be used to bag leaves as well.
- (d) The funnel has a large opening
- (e) the funnel never collapses while bagging
- (f) the funnel is not bulky and does not roll away when it's lying on its side bagging.

SUMMARY

The embodiment of the funnel produces a convenient and versatile way of Bagging goods and debris. It acts as a helper and allows one person to handle the task of bagging leaves, clothes, garbage and many other things in a timely manner.

CONCLUSION, RAMIFICATION, AND SCOPE

Thus the reader can see that at least one embodiment of the funnel provides a useful tool which is safe and practical for common people to use. This embodiment will easily prevent the hassle of bags closing and the need for another persons help when bagging items.
Thus the scope should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents and not by the examples given.

Claims

I claim:

1. In a bag support of the type comprising a rectangular funnel inlet and four tapered elongated support members, the improvement wherein said bag supports can be stacked within each other.

2. The bag support of claim 1 wherein said funnel having four trapezoid shaped sides.

3. The bag support of claim 2 wherein said sides are integral to said support members and is adapted to fit inside a lawn or trash bag such are commonly used to hold waste, said bags having a opening, four walls and a bottom, said support members adapted to be seated on the bottom of the bags.

4. In a bag support of the type comprising a rectangular funnel inlet and four tapered elongated support members which are tapered downward and used to hold the funnel.

5. The bag support of claim 4 wherein said tapered elongated support members position said funnel at opening of lawn or trash bags such are commonly used to hold waste.
