Abstract

A file folder for the storage of documents, electronic media, and other things, made of stiff paper or plastic/vinyl stock and/or other appropriate material which is to be self-assembled by the user. The file folder is comprised of one sheet of pre-cut material which, through a series of folds, slots, and tabs, forms the entire file folder for papers, CD's, and other things. The invention will usually be sized for storage of papers from 8½×11 inches to 8½×14 inches, in appropriate widths from 1″ to 6″, but may be any number of other dimensions. Manufacturing the file folder from one sheet, plus self-assembly by the user, promises savings to the user and a strong file folder which can be made even more so by the addition of tape reinforcement should the end user so desire.

  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • Although file folders of various kinds have been available for many years, the type of folders for long term storage of voluminous documents, e.g., expandable wallets, or as sometimes referred to, expandable “buckets,” have become excessively expensive and do not provide the durability one might expect for the price.
  • BRIEF OBJECT AND SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention seeks to provide an updated, cheaper, and preferable alternative to currently available file folders, and to add utility by including two (2) internal side pockets for the safe storage of compact discs, or other electronic tapes and/or media, which is currently lacking in present day file folders. Thus, the present invention is more appropriate to tomorrow's home and office files which will contain less paper and more electronic storage media.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Please refer to the above and the attached drawings.
  • The invention will be manufactured using machine dies and/or automatic cutting systems and/or blanking systems such as those available from Brantjen and Kluge, Inc., and/or other systems in use in the paper product manufacturing industry.
  • Slitting and/or punch machines will be used to create the slits/slots for insertion of the interlocking tabs.
  • No gluing or other fastening is necessary or required.

Claims (5)

1. A file folder for the storage of documents, electronic media (in pockets sized for the storage of compact discs) and other things, to be manufactured in any and all appropriate and/or desirable sizes, heights, lengths, and widths, from one sheet of stock material, and designed to be assembled by the end user at significant cost savings. The file folder is manufactured from one sheet of durable paper stock, e.g., from paper posterboard of varying weights, and/or from any other suitable media, including but not limited to plastic, vinyl, and other foldable and/or other materials which are suitable to holding a crease.
2. A file folder according to claim 1 above which is “pre-cut” as indicated on Drawing No. 1/5 of this Application, or pre-cut in any substantially similar fashion to that shown of Drawing No. 1/5, and which—through the use of assembly instructions printed on the posterboard or on a separate document—the end user assembles by folding the stock material, where indicated, and by inserting the four (4) pre-cut tabs into four (4) pre-cut slots, as indicated on Drawing Nos. 3/5 and 4/5 of this Application, to form the completed invention.
3. A file folder according to claims 1 and 2 above which may incorporate, if desired, and if feasible from a manufacturing standpoint, the use of “locking tabs” as shown in Drawing No. 2/5 of this Application, or other tabs similar thereto.
4. A file folder according to claims 1, 2, and 3 above which may be reinforced by the use of tape, glue, staples, and/or by other types of fasteners.
5. The right make any and all types of modifications and/or decorative additions to the file folder in claims 1, 2, 3, and 4 above, including, but not limited to, changing such of the designed cuts and folds as may be necessary or desirable for economy and ease in manufacturing, and including the addition of rounded corners, colors and patterns, and the modification of the assembly instructions shown in Drawing No. 5/5 of this Application, inter alia.
