(Cl.98114) lwThi's'invention relates toa frame for wallregallel bars of angle form withvertical' legs or flanges I and horizontal legs or flanges 2 which are positioned at right angles to the flanges I as shown. The vertical end members of the frame are also of like angle form having 'outwardly'extending flanges 3 with inwardly positioned flanges or legs 4. Atlthe ends of the verticalframemembers the flanges 3 are cut away from theflanges and offset as indicated at 5 so'that in. assembling the parts, flanges I and 3 lie in the same plane. The assembly is completed'by spot welding the offset portions 5 to the flanges I at a distance inwardly fromthe ends of the upper frame members, thereby providing extensions Ia as shown v through which openings are made for the passage of nails or other securing devices in attaching the outer frame member to studding as will hereafter appear.
Associated with theouter frame is an inner frame which is comprised of two frame members secured together. 'One of these frame members, the'one' at'the outside, has horizontal upper'and lower angle bars with horizontalflangest and verticaloutwardly extending flanges 'I. w The vertical, end members are likewise ofangle form with flanges 8 and 9 at right angles'to each other, the flanges 9 extending outwardlyand lying in the same plane with the flanges or legs I previ- 1 ously described. The ends of the flanges or legs Iare off-set as described with reference to the offset portions 5 in the first described outer frame and the parts'are spot welded at the corners as shown in Fig. 1. I When the frame members are assembled together they are detachably connected by screws If which pass through the flangesor legs 1 and 9 and into threaded holes made in the flanges or legs I as shown in Fig. 1. 1 The inner member of the innerframe is a rectangular frame member, the sides and ends of whichlare of a shape as shown in cross section in Figs; 2 and 3. The'cross section consists of an inturned leg I I, at right angles to which is a section I2, from which another leg I3 is turned at rightangles so asto parallel the leg I I, and from the inner edge of theleg I3 there is a flange I 4. The frame is made up of four parts, upper and lower horizontal parts and end vertical parts which are connected at their corners by brackets I5 and IS. The bracketsi5 (Fig. 5) lie against the inner sides of the vertical and horizontal legs II and are spot welded thereto while the angle brackets it connect the parts It at their corners, by spot welding.
The inner frame member is located so that the sections i2 come against the flanges or legs 6 and 9'of the surrounding frame memben'and are permanently connected thereto by spot welding preferably. This, therefore, makes a permanent construction of-Yinner'frame which may be detachably connected by. the screws H], as previously described, to the outer frame. When so con-' nec'ted' it is evidentthat thelflanges orlegs i and '9 are spaced a'distance, equal'to the thickness of the parts 5, fromthe adjacent ffianges or legs- I and} of the outer frame.' Itisalsoevident, as shown 'in Figsjl, 2 and 3, that the edges of the outturned legs! and 9 are spaceda distance fromthe inner side of the flangesZ and 4 providing a continuous narrow open space H entirely around the innerframeandbetween it and the adjacentf V inner sides of the legsZ and 4 of the outer frame.
