Abstract
The breast cup in accordance with the present invention comprises a cover and a support. The cover is double-layered material, substantially ovoid in shape and comprises an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer presses against a wearer's skin and has a smooth surface corresponding to a bottom contour of a wearer's breast. The outer layer is mounted on the inner layer, is opposite to the wearer's skin and has a periphery and a longitudinal cavity. The periphery corresponds to a bottom contour of the wearer's breast. The longitudinal cavity is aligned with the periphery of the outer layer and forms a longitudinal curve. The support is mounted in the longitudinal cavity and protrudes from the outer layer to provide support and shape to the breast.
Description
- The invention relates to a breast support, and more particularly, to a brassiere cup that supports a breast and makes a wearer feel more comfortable.
- Generally, a conventional brassiere underwire provides support and shape to a brassiere cup and is mounted in fabric tubes formed at a lower edge of the brassier cup, is made of rigid material and is uncomfortable.
- With reference to
FIG. 1 , a conventional brassiere cup (2) comprises a cover and a support (23). - The cover is double-layered material, substantially ovoid in shape corresponds to a wearer's breast and comprises an outer layer (22) and an inner layer (21).
- The inner layer (21) presses against a wearer's skin and has a lower portion.
- The lower portion of the inner layer (21) is attached to the outer layer (22) and has a longitudinal cavity (211).
- The longitudinal cavity (211) is aligned with a bottom contour of a wearer's breast, which forms a longitudinal curve.
- The support (23) is mounted in the longitudinal cavity (211) and protrudes from the lower portion of the inner layer (21) that is against the bottom contour of the breast to provide support and shape to the breast. Usually, the support (23) is rigid that makes the brassiere uncomfortable and may be a metal wire.
- However, making the inner layer (21) thicker or using some complex fabric to cushion the brassiere may keep the brassiere from being uncomfortable, but the support (23) still presses against the bottom contour of the breast, and the wearer may feel uncomfortable after wearing the brassiere for a long time. Further, the support (23) may chaff skin on the bottom contour of the breast.
- Therefore, a person knowledgeable in the art will appreciate that a need exists for a new and improved brassiere cup that is more comfortable and capable of providing support and shape to a breast.
- The objective of the present invention is to provide a brassiere cup that supports a wearer's breast and feels more comfortable.
- A brassiere cup in accordance with the present invention comprises a cover and a support. The cover is double-layered material, substantially ovoid in shape and comprises an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer contacts a wearer's skin and has a smooth surface corresponding to a bottom contour of breast. The outer layer is mounted on the inner layer, is opposite to the wearer's skin and has a periphery and a longitudinal cavity. The periphery corresponds to a bottom contour of a wearer's breast. The longitudinal cavity is aligned with the periphery of the outer layer that forms a longitudinal curve. The support is mounted in the longitudinal cavity and protrudes from the outer layer to provide support and shape to the breast.
-
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional side view of a conventional brassiere cup; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a brassiere cup in accordance with the present invention; and -
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional side view of the brassiere cup inFIG. 2 . - With reference to
FIGS. 2 and 3 , the brassiere cup (1) in accordance with the present invention comprises a cover and a support (13). - The cover is double-layered material, substantially ovoid in shape and comprises a one-piece inner layer (11) and a one-piece outer layer (12).
- The inner layer (11) contacts a wearer's skin and comprises a lower portion. The inner layer (11) may be a nonwoven or an elastic fiber. The lower portion of the inner layer (11) has a smooth surface (111) corresponding to a bottom contour of a wearer's breast.
- The outer layer (12) is mounted on the inner layer (11), is opposite to the wearer's skin, may be a nonwoven or an elastic fiber and comprises a lower portion. The lower portion of the outer layer (12) is attached to the inner layer (11) and has a periphery (121) and a longitudinal cavity (122).
- The periphery (121) corresponds to the bottom contour of the breast.
- The longitudinal cavity (122) is aligned with the periphery (121) of the outer layer (12) that forms a longitudinal curve. The longitudinal curve corresponds to the smooth surface (111) of the inner layer (11).
- The support (13) is mounted in the longitudinal cavity (122) and protrudes from the lower portion of the outer layer (12) to provide support and shape to the breast. The support (13) may be a steel wire, a steel strip or other kind of elastic compound.
- Accordingly, the support (13) protrudes from the lower portion of the outer layer (12) and the corresponding smooth surface (111) comfortably presses against a wearer's skin. The wearer will not feel uncomfortable from the rigid support (13) and support and shape will be provided to a wearer's breast when wearing the brassiere cup (1) in accordance with the present invention.
- Various changes, modifications and alterations in form and details may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
