Abstract

The device includes a reservoir and a pump for distribution without recovery of air. The reservoir includes a rigid part including a solid, rigid frame having a through perforation for passage and mounting the pump, limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces and including a large lateral opening on at least one of the two large lateral surfaces; at least one deformable solid wall, attached to the rigid part in a rigid and airtight manner by closing the at least one large lateral opening in an airtight manner, whereby this wall has a certain overall flexibility that makes possible its deformation during distribution of the contents by the pump; and a cavity. The pump is rigidly attached in an airtight manner to the frame, whereby its inside part for sampling the contents to be distributed is located in the cavity of the reservoir and its outside part for activating and distributing the contents is located outside of the reservoir.

Description

  • The invention relates to a device for packaging and distributing fluid contents, such as an alcoholic liquid, a gel, a cream, or an oil, such contents being, for example, a cosmetic product.
  • The purpose of the invention is more especially:
      • A device for packaging and distributing fluid contents, and
      • A unit comprising such a device for packaging and distribution that contains such contents.
  • The document WO 02/16047 describes a fluid product distributor that comprises a reservoir and a pump. The reservoir can be made in different ways, in particular in the form of a heat-formed shell with a soldered film that forms a lid, with a distribution opening, one of the walls of the reservoir being deformable to be able to reduce the volume of the reservoir. The reservoir forms a cavity. The pump is attached to the reservoir.
  • The document WO 02/16047 does not provide for a reservoir that has a rigid part that includes a rigid and solid frame, is provided with the through perforation, is limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces that comprise a large lateral opening on at least one of them, and comprises large surfaces that are able to absorb applied compression forces of the value of those that correspond to magazines that are stacked for their distribution. Furthermore, there is no question of inserting the device into a magazine that is arranged in a stack.
  • In addition, the document WO 02/16047 does not provide for a reservoir that has at least one deformable solid wall that has an overall flexibility that allows it to deform during the distribution of the contents by the pump, i.e., it is driven and not driving, and that is not affected by the insertion of the device into a magazine with applied compression forces of the value of those corresponding to magazines that are stacked for their distribution. The very positioning of the pump even prevents the device from being inserted into a magazine that is arranged in a stack.
  • In addition, the document WO 02/16047 does not provide for the distribution pump being an airless pump, limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces that are arranged parallel to two large lateral surfaces, with an outside part for activating and distributing the contents located outside of the cavity and having an activation surface.
  • In addition, the document WO 02/16047 does not provide for the cavity containing any constituent element of the device except for the inside sampling part of the pump.
  • The documents WO 2007/036618 and WO 2007/036619 respectively describe a pump for distribution of a sample product and a sample product distributor.
  • The document US 2008/190961 relates to a device for bulky packaging and distribution that is impossible to insert into a magazine with applied compression forces of the value of those that correspond to magazines that are stacked for their distribution.
  • Furthermore, in the field of packaging of cosmetic products or analogous products, pumps without recovery of air (called airless pumps), the latter able to have different embodiments, are known.
  • The document WO 2004/033341 describes a contents distributor that comprises a reservoir that is provided with a deformable activation wall and a distribution opening and, housed in the reservoir, spring leaves. Such a distributor does not comprise an airless pump, and it is not suitable for accommodating one.
  • The document ES-A-2265789 describes a flattened spray pump.
  • The document WO 2007/136207 describes a small spray pump that can be operated by hand. In this embodiment, the device comprises three pieces or sets of pieces, namely a pump that comprises a housing of cylindrical shape, whereby a flat container contains the liquid to be sprayed, and a three-stage rigid crankcase that can protect the container from external applied forces. The device is flat in such a way as to be able to be enclosed in stacked magazines.
  • The prior art also comprises the documents US 2007/262091, WO 01/34499, WO 02/24342 and U.S. Pat. No. 5,337,921, which, however, constitute only a technological background relative to this invention.
  • The invention therefore has as its object a device for packaging and distributing fluid contents of the type comprising a reservoir that is designed to accommodate the contents and a pump for distribution without recovery of air (airless pump) that is at the same time the thinnest possible, simple to produce, comprising the minimum number of pieces or sets of pieces, inexpensive, and able to be inserted into a magazine, whereby such a magazine can be presented in a stack.
  • For this purpose, according to a first aspect, the invention relates to a device for packaging and distributing fluid contents, of the type that comprises:
      • A reservoir that has:
        • A rigid part that has a through perforation that can make possible the passage and the mounting of the pump,
        • At least one deformable solid wall that has a certain overall flexibility, attached to the rigid part in a rigid and airtight manner,
        • A cavity, closed in an airtight manner except for the through perforation, delimited by the rigid part and at least one deformable wall, containing the inside sampling part of the pump and the contents to be distributed when the device is provided therewith,
      • and a pump that is attached rigidly and in an airtight manner to the rigid part, having an inside part for sampling contents to be distributed in the cavity and parts for activating and distributing the contents,
      • in which:
        • The rigid part includes a rigid and solid frame, is provided with the through perforation, is limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces that comprise a large lateral opening on at least one of them, and is able to absorb applied compression forces of the value of those that correspond to magazines that are stacked for their distribution,
        • The at least one solid wall has an overall flexibility that makes possible its deformation during the distribution of the contents by the pump and is not affected by the insertion of the device into a magazine with applied compression forces of the value of those that correspond to magazines that are stacked for their distribution,
        • The distribution pump is a pump without recovery of air (airless pump) that is relatively flat and limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces that are arranged parallel to the two large lateral surfaces, having an outside part for activating and distributing the contents located outside of the cavity and having an activation surface,
        • The cavity does not contain any constituent element of the device except for the inside sampling part of the pump,
        • The device is totally enclosed between the two planes that are defined by the two large opposing lateral surfaces of the frame.

  • A device 1 for packaging and distribution according to the invention is designed with fluid contents 2. The object of the invention is also the unit 1+2, comprising such a device 1 and the contents 2.
  • The device 1 first comprises a reservoir 3 that is designed to accommodate the contents 2.
  • Secondly, it comprises a pump for distribution without recovery of air 4, known under the name of “airless” pump or system.
  • The reservoir 3 comprises a rigid part 5 that includes a frame 6, at least one deformable, solid wall 7, and a cavity 8.
  • According to a first embodiment that is illustrated by FIGS. 1 to 4, the rigid part 5 consists of the frame 6, and on its two large opposing lateral surfaces 9 a, 9 b, it comprises two large lateral openings 10 a, 10 b.
  • In this first embodiment, the reservoir 3 comprises two deformable walls 7 a, 7 b.
  • In this first embodiment, the cavity 8 is therefore delimited by the frame 6 and the two deformable walls 7 a, 7 b.
  • According to a second embodiment, illustrated by FIG. 5, the rigid part 5 consists of the frame 6 and a rigid solid wall 11. The frame 6 and this rigid solid wall 11 form a rigid and airtight unit either as it comes from production or in two assembled parts, for example by soldering or sealing.
  • In this second embodiment, the rigid part 5 comprises a large lateral opening 10 a on only one of its two large opposing lateral surfaces, for example, the surface 9 a.
  • In this second embodiment, the reservoir 3 comprises a single deformable wall 7 a.
  • In this second embodiment, the cavity 8 is delimited by the frame 6, the rigid solid wall 11, and the single deformable wall 7 a. The rigid frame 6 is actually solid, but it is provided with a through perforation 12 on a field. This through perforation 12 is capable of allowing and is designed to allow the passage and the mounting of the pump 4.
  • According to third and fourth embodiments, illustrated by FIGS. 6 to 8 and 7 to 10, respectively, it is provided that at least one deformable wall 7 comes from the same sheet 18, which is folded or is refolded on both sides of the frame 6.
  • The folding or refolding 19 of the sheet 18 is located opposite the through perforation 12. Folding is defined as the case where the sheet 18 is folded back on a line or essentially a line, and refolding is defined as that where the sheet 18 is folded back over a wider zone. There is folding if the device 1 has an end part in the form of a point, whereby the planes Pa and Pb form a slight angle between them, as indicated above. There is refolding if the device 1 has an end part that has an edge and not a tip, whereby the planes Pa and Pb are at least essentially parallel to one another.
  • In the case of the third embodiment that is illustrated by FIGS. 6 to 8, the folding or refolding of the sheet coincides with the free edge of the frame that comes against the inside surface of the folding or refolding. This structural arrangement is advantageous for the production of the device, with the sheet that is cut-out in advance being first folded or refolded, according to a known arrangement or within the grasp of one skilled in the art of the machinability of the materials in a sheet, such as typically for packing or packaging, and then the frame is inserted into the folding or refolding and locked by it.
  • In this embodiment, it is possible to use a frame 6 such as the one shown in FIG. 13. The free edge 20 of such a frame that comes against the folding or refolding 19 is open at 21. This opening is not problematic, with the closing of the cavity 8 and its seal then being ensured by the folding or refolding 19 of the sheet 18 that has a rigid and airtight connection with the frame toward its edge 20.
  • Of course, it is also possible to use a frame 6 that is closed over its entire periphery, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 8.
  • According to one embodiment, the folded or refolded sheet 18 fulfills the same function as that performed by the wall(s) 7.
  • According to another embodiment, the sheet 18 also performs a function as packet 22 for the device 1.
  • For this purpose, it is provided that the sheet 18 projects laterally outside of the frame 6, and its two projecting parts 23 are made integral with one another directly, able to be applied against one another because of the absence in this location of the frame 6.
  • In the case of this third embodiment, the packet 22 contains the entire device for packaging and distribution 1, including the outside part 14 for activation and for distribution of the pump 4.
  • In this case, it is preferably provided that the packet 22 comprises a break-away zone 24, for example, starting from a tearing initiator making it possible, once broken or torn, to freely access the outside part 14 for activation and distribution of the pump 4.
  • In the case of the fourth embodiment that is illustrated by FIGS. 9 to 11, the folding or the refolding 19 of the sheet 18 is separated from the free edge 20 of the frame 6.
  • In the case of this fourth embodiment, the packet 22 contains only a part of the device 1 for packaging and distribution, leaving free the outside part 14 for activation and distribution of the pump 4.
  • In one variant of the fourth embodiment that is also illustrated by FIGS. 9 to 11, there is provided not a sheet such as 18 that is folded or refolded on itself but two sheets that are separate but made integral by their projecting parts 23 in contact.
  • According to a preferred embodiment, the rigid part 5 is able to absorb applied compression forces on its two large lateral surfaces 9 a, 9 b of the value of those of the magazine press distribution in a stack.
  • In contrast, according to a possible embodiment that is illustrated by FIG. 10, the end part 14 for activation and for distribution of the pump comprises an overload of material 26 in such a way that this part 14 is itself able to absorb applied compression forces such as those mentioned above.
  • Regardless of the embodiment, the deformable wall(s) 7 is/are solid.
  • Regardless of the embodiment, the deformable wall(s) 7 is/are attached to the rigid part 5 in a rigid and airtight manner, in such a way as to close the large lateral opening(s) 10 a, 10 in an airtight manner.
  • Regardless of the embodiment, the deformable wall(s) 7 has/have a certain overall flexibility that makes it possible for them to be deformed during the distribution of the contents 2 by the pump 4.
  • Regardless of the embodiment, the deformable wall(s) 7 is/are not affected by the fact that the device 1 is inserted into a magazine and that such magazines are stacked with the corresponding compression forces.
  • Regardless of the embodiment, the cavity 8 is closed in an airtight manner except for the through perforation 12. This cavity 8 is delimited by the rigid part 5 and the deformable wall(s) 7.
  • The pump 4 is attached rigidly and in an airtight way to the frame 6 by passing through the perforation 12.
  • The pump 4 comprises a part 13 for sampling the contents 2 to be distributed and a part 14 for activation and distribution. These two parts form an integral unit.
  • Such an airless pump 4 is known or within the grasp of one skilled in the art, and it is not necessary to describe it further.
  • The part 13 for sampling the contents 2 to be distributed is located in the cavity 8 of the reservoir 3. It can thus be termed internal. The part 14 for activating and distributing the contents 2 is located outside of the reservoir. It can thus be termed external. A portion of one and/or the other of the parts 13, 14 is found in the very field of the frame 6, at the location of the through perforation 12.
  • Thus, the cavity 8 contains the inside sampling part 13 of the pump and the contents 2 to be distributed when the device 1 is provided therewith. By contrast, the cavity 8 does not contain any other constituent element.
  • The device 1 is at least essentially totally enclosed between the two planes Pa, Pb that are defined by the two large opposing lateral surfaces 9 a, 9 b of the rigid part 5 or the frame 6.
  • According to a first embodiment, illustrated by FIG. 5, the rigid part 5 is at least approximately of the same thickness over its entire periphery. In this case, the two planes Pa and Pb are at least essentially parallel to one another.
  • According to a second embodiment, illustrated by FIGS. 1 to 3, the rigid part 5 has a variable thickness over its periphery. More specifically, the thickness is the largest toward the through perforation 12 and the smallest opposite the through perforation 12. In this case, the two planes Pa and Pb are inclined relative to one another, with a small angle, for example less than on the order of 10° and more especially less than on the order of 5°.
  • In this embodiment, opposite the through perforation 12, the rigid part 5 forms a point 15 or a pseudo point or a slightly truncated point. The thickness of the rigid part 5 at this location is minimal or at least essentially minimal. Minimal is defined as the thickness that takes into account the required standards of strength.
  • Once the reservoir 3 is filled with contents 2 and before use and distribution of contents 2, the or each of the deformable wall(s) 7 is essentially planar and located essentially in the or each of the plane(s) Pa, Pb.
  • In a typical embodiment, the rigid part 5 is made of plastic material, and the rigid piece 5 and the or each of the deformable wall(s) 7 is/are made integral by sealing, bonding 16 or any other similar manner.
  • According to a typical embodiment, the or each of the deformable wall(s) 7 is made of a plastic material or a complex that is based on plastic material and aluminum or the like.
  • The pump 4 is relatively flat and limited by two large opposing lateral surfaces 17 a, 17 b, arranged at least essentially parallel to the two large opposing lateral surfaces 9 a, 9 b of the rigid part 5.
  • The pump 4 is attached rigidly and in an airtight manner to the frame 6 by clamping, by soldering, or by any other similar means.
  • In the third embodiment of FIGS. 6 to 8, two lug-cavity units 25 are provided, whereby the lug works with the cavity. In the case that is shown, the lug is part of the frame 6, and the cavity is part of the pump 4, more specifically the pump body.
  • These lug-cavity units 25 extend at least essentially parallel to the axis of the through perforation 12.
  • The cooperation of the lug in the cavity ensures a relative anti-rotational function of the pump 4 in relation to the frame 6. It follows that it is thus ensured that the two large opposing lateral surfaces 17 a, 17 b of the pump 4 are arranged at least essentially parallel to the two large opposing lateral surfaces 9 a, 9 b of the rigid part 5.
  • According to one embodiment that is illustrated by FIG. 10, the outside part 14 for activation and distribution of the pump comprises an inclined activation surface 27 (relative to the primary axis of the device, in particular the axis of the through perforation 12). Such an inclined surface 27 is capable of ensuring that the finger of the individual who ensures the activation of the pump is removed from the spraying of the contents 2 of the device 1.
  • As follows from the preceding description, in the simplest case, the frame 6 is closed over its entire periphery and typically has a polygonal shape such as a square or a rectangle. It is possible, however, to give the frame 6 a fantasy shape such as the one that is shown, by way of nonlimiting example, in FIG. 6.
  • Furthermore, as it was indicated above and with reference to FIG. 13, the frame 6 can comprise an open free edge 20 at 21, on the condition of providing a folded or refolded sheet 18.
  • Finally, the frame 6 can have other shapes. With reference to FIG. 12, a frame 6 is provided that extends in the transverse direction and whose lateral parts comprise recesses 28. Such an embodiment makes it possible both to better distribute the compression forces exerted on the device 1 for packaging and spraying and to present a larger “facing” that is advantageous from the commercial standpoint. In such an embodiment, and according to the variants, the recesses 26 are visible or, on the contrary, invisible, masked by the walls 7, if necessary the sheet 18.
  • One or such recess(es) can be, if necessary, used to house there a suitable object such as a make-up implement.
  • Such a device 1 for packaging and distribution as was just described is particularly well suited to samples of cosmetic products for the purpose of a single use of the contents or a small number of uses. The capacity of the reservoir 3 is consequently adapted.
  • Such a device can have an overall thickness that is less than several millimeters, in particular 5 millimeters.
  • The unit that comprises the device 1 and the contents 2 in the reservoir 3 can, if necessary, also comprise support means and/or containment means and/or anti-tamper means. A packet such as 21 constitutes a possible embodiment of such means.
