FIG. 2 andFIG. 3 , when the display device is placed horizontally, thefront frame 300 partly covers thedisplay panel 100 as well as the lateral sides of thedisplay panel 100 and thebase 200. Thefront frame 300 includes aside wall 310 and atop plate 330. Theside wall 310 corresponds to the lateral sides of thedisplay panel 100 and is preferred to be perpendicular to thedisplay surface 110 of thedisplay panel 100. In a more preferred embodiment, theside wall 310 is a closed rectangular wall enclosing thedisplay panel 100. However, in different embodiments, theside wall 310 can also be an open-ended wall such as two long sides corresponding to thedisplay panel 100. - As shown in
FIG. 2 andFIG. 3 , thetop plate 330 extends from a top edge of theside wall 310, along thedisplay surface 110 of thedisplay panel 100 and towards center of thedisplay panel 100. Thetop plate 330 is preferred to enter the space corresponding to the interior of thedisplay panel 100 where thesealant 170 is disposed. However, in different embodiments, thetop plate 330 extends not inwards, and only reaches thesealant 170. As it can be seen fromFIG. 2 , thefront frame 300 has anopening 340 formed by encircling thetop plate 330. Theactive area 111 of thedisplay panel 100 corresponds to theopening 340 and displays the images outwards through theopening 340. - As
FIG. 3 shows, thetop plate 330 has aninner surface 331. Theinner surface 331 faces thedisplay surface 110 of thedisplay panel 100. Agroove 350 is formed on theinner surface 331 along theside wall 310, wherein a width of thegroove 350 is preferred to be less than 10 millimeters. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 3 , theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330 has a pair offlanges 351 and thegroove 350 is formed between the pair offlanges 351. The pair of flanges can be formed through injection-molding, stamping molding or other processes, and the above-mentioned processes can be adjusted to accommodate the material of thetop plate 330. However, in the embodiment shown inFIG. 4 , thegroove 350 is formed by hollowing out theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330 towards the opposite side of theinner surface 331. In the present embodiment, thegroove 350 can be formed by bending thetop plate 330 or by using injection-molding to form thegroove 350 on thetop plate 330. - As shown in
FIG. 3 andFIG. 4 , thefront frame 300 includes acushion filler 400. The cushion filler is disposed in thegroove 350 with its top protruding from thegroove 350 and from theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 3 , the top of thecushion filler 400 protrudes from space between the pair offlanges 351. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 4 , the top of thecushion filler 400 protrudes from the hollow on theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330. Furthermore, in the embodiments shown inFIG. 3 andFIG. 4 , the top of thecushion filler 400 contacts thedisplay surface 110 of thedisplay panel 100 corresponding to thesealant 170. However, in different embodiments, thecushion filler 400 can also contact other positions on the outside of theactive area 111 of thedisplay surface 110. - In a more preferred embodiment, a height of the cushion filler protruding from the
inner surface 331 of thetop plate 330 is less than 3 millimeters. However, in different embodiments, this height can be increased or adjusted in accordance with the material of thecushion filler 400 and with the width of thegroove 350. When the display device is subject to external forces and presses thefront frame 300, thecushion filler 400 can then be used as a support for thetop plate 310 outside theactive area 111, to prevent thetop plate 310 from pressing theactive area 111 of thedisplay panel 100. In other words, the disposition of thecushion filler 400 reduces the possibility that an external force compels thetop plate 310 to press thedisplay panel 100 which may affects the displayed images. Furthermore, thecushion filler 400 can be made of materials with dark or black colors which renders improved shading effect for thefront frame 300. - Materials of the
cushion filler 400 can be made from a room temperature hardening material, a thermo-hardening material, a thermoplastic macromolecular material, a photo-hardening macromolecular material or a mixture thereof. The thermoplastic macromolecular material may include polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polyimide (PI) and mixtures thereof. The photo-hardening macromolecular material includes polyurethane, diacrylate, epoxy diacrylate and a mixture thereof. However, the viscosity of thecushion filler 400 is preferred to be less than 55 Pa·s (Pascal second) which corresponds to the required fluidity of thecushion filler 400 in thegroove 350. Furthermore, acushion filler 400 composed of two or more materials may be disposed in the same section of thegroove 350. - As shown in
FIG. 3 ,FIG. 4 andFIG. 5 ,apertures 370 are formed on theside wall 310 of thefront frame 300. The display device has ascrew 600 passing through theaperture 370 and fastening thefront frame 330 on the lateral sides of thebase 200. Furthermore, theaperture 370 can be formed on the top surface of thefront frame 330 and thus thescrew 600 could fasten thefront frame 300 on the front surface of thebase 200. In the embodiment shown inFIG. 5 ,apertures 370 are disposed at 4 corners of thefront frame 300. However, in different embodiments, the position of theaperture 370 can be adjusted in accordance with the space requirement of the design. Furthermore, thefront frame 300 and the base 200 can be coupled together using double-sided tape or other methods. - As
FIG. 5 shows, thegroove 350 is distributed in a continuous linear shape on theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330. The above-mentioned continuous linear shape includes straight line, curved line, curved line in wave shape, sawtooth line etc. Furthermore, thegroove 350 can be formed by connecting line segment of different shapes together. For instance, in the present embodiment, the continuous linear shape of thegroove 350 includes several straight lines and lines in wave shape. In the present embodiment, each section of thegroove 350 connects together to form a closed ring-shaped area. However, in different embodiments such as the one shown inFIG. 6 a, thegroove 350 can be formed with continuous line sections which are not closed. - What is shown in
FIG. 6 b is another embodiment of thegroove 350. In the present embodiment, thegroove 350 is discontinuously distributed on theinner surface 331 of thetop plate 330. AsFIG. 6 b shows, thegroove 350 is composed of several disconnected line sections distributed along theside wall 310 and on theinner surface 331. Furthermore, in different embodiments, thegroove 350 can also have a plurality of disconnected point-shaped hollows, asFIG. 6 c shows. Thegroove 350 is disposed in a discrete pattern, and thus thecushion filler 400 is also disposed separately at different sections of thegroove 350. - In an embodiment shown in
FIG. 5 , thegroove 350 has a wave-shapeddistribution pattern 355, and the wave-shapeddistribution pattern 355 corresponds to theaperture 370 on theside wall 310. The section where theaperture 370 is situated is often weak in structure strength and is often exposed to the majority of external forces. Consequently it is preferred to increase the structure strength of the section where theaperture 370 is situated. The disposition of the wave-shapeddistribution pattern 355 may increase the contact area of thecushion filler 400 and then the supporting strength of the front frame. Furthermore, in an embodiment shown inFIG. 7 , thecushion filler 400 disposed in thegroove 350 includes afirst filler 410 and asecond filler 420, wherein the hardness of thefirst filler 410 is greater than the hardness of thesecond filler 420. Thefirst filler 410 is disposed in thegroove 350 corresponding to theaperture 370, and thesecond filler 420 is disposed at the remainder of thegroove 350. The difference in hardness between thefirst filler 410 and thesecond filler 420 increases the supporting strength of area surrounding theaperture 370 as well as the shock and deformation absorption at the remainder ofgroove 350. In a more preferred embodiment, thefirst filler 410 can be selected from a group consisting of polyester resin, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. Thesecond filler 420 can be selected from a group consisting of polymerized siloxanes, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. - As

In the present embodiment, thebent parts 700 are disposed at the four corners of thefront frame 300. Thegroove 350 also curves at the position corresponding to thebent part 700. AsFIG. 5 shows, the width of thegroove 350 at thebent part 700 is greater than the width at the remainder of thegroove 350. In other words, the section of thegroove 350 with greater width is capable of accommodatingmore cushion filler 400 and to provide more supporting strength. Furthermore, in the embodiment shown inFIG. 8 , thecushion filler 400 disposed in thegroove 350 includes afirst filler 410 and asecond filler 420, wherein the hardness of thefirst filler 410 is greater than the hardness of thesecond filler 420. Thefirst filler 410 is disposed in thegroove 350 corresponding to thebent part 700. Thesecond filler 420 is disposed at the remainder of thegroove 350. The difference in hardness between thefirst filler 410 and thesecond filler 420 increases the supporting strength at thebent part 700 as well as the shock absorption and deformation absorption at the remainder of thegroove 350. In a more preferred embodiment, thefirst filler 410 can be selected a group consisting of polyester resin, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. Thesecond filler 420 can be selected a group consisting of polymerized siloxanes, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. -

During the coating process, the coating device injects thecushion filler 400 in thegroove 350 to cover part of thegroove 350. Thecushion filler 400 can then flow and expend itself until thegroove 350 is filled. - The
step 910 of fillingcushion filler 400 further includes filling thegroove 350 with thefirst filler 410 and with thesecond filler 420 of a lower hardness than the hardness of thefirst filler 410. The position of thefirst filler 410 is preferred to correspond to theapertures 370 on theside wall 310 or/and the position of thebent part 700 of thetop plate 330. The difference in hardness between thefirst filler 410 and thesecond filler 420 can increase the supporting strength at the area surrounding thefirst filler 410, as well as the shock absorption and the deformation absorption at the remainder of thegroove 350. In a more preferred embodiment, thefirst filler 410 is selected from a group consisting of polyester resin, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. Thesecond filler 420 is be selected from a group consisting of polymerized siloxanes, polyurethane or a mixture thereof. - The
step 930 includes solidifying thecushion filler 400. The step will be adjusted in accordance with different types of thecushion filler 400.
