Abstract
A high efficiency range hood includes a housing and a smoke exhausting device. The smoke exhausting device includes a snail-shaped air chamber, an air turbine installed in the air chamber, and an electric motor installed in the air chamber for rotating the air turbine. The air chamber has an air inlet and at least one air outlet. The housing has at least one knockout portion that communicates with the air outlet. The knockout portion communicates with the external air outlet pipe.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a range hood. In particular, the present invention relates to a high efficiency range hood.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Range hoods in the markets that include a housing and a smoke exhausting device installed in the housing doest not meet the specifications of the US energy star, including the efficiency rate (airflow at low speed/low speed power) >2.8 (cubic feet/min/power), the noise at low speed <2.0 Sone, and the airflow at low speed ≧100(cubic feet/min/power).
- One particular aspect of the present invention is to provide a high efficiency range hood that meets the specifications of the US energy star, including the efficiency rate (airflow at low speed/low speed power) >2.8 (cubic feet/min/power), the noise at low speed <2.0 Sone, and the airflow at low speed ≧100 (cubic feet/min/power), and its structure is simple.
- Another particular aspect of the present invention is to provide a high efficiency range hood. There are knockout portions at the back surface and top of the housing and can be easily linked with the air outlet pipe. The installation is simple.
- The high efficiency range hood includes a housing and a smoke exhausting device. The smoke exhausting device includes a snail-shaped air chamber, an air turbine installed in the air chamber, and an electric motor installed in the air chamber for rotating the air turbine. The air chamber has an air inlet and at least one air outlet. The housing has at least one knockout portion that communicates with the air outlet. The knockout portions links with the external air outlet pipe.
- There is a fan guard around the air inlet of the air chamber.
- The air turbine includes an installation bottom board, a curved fan blade fastened on the installation bottom board, and a fastening frame connected with the curved fan blade.
- The air outlet on the air chamber includes two side air outlets and a bottom air outlet. The knockout portions on the housing includes a first knockout portion installed on the back surface of the housing and two top knockout portions located on the top of the housing. The front surface of the housing has a vent. The first knockout portion located on the back surface of the housing communicates with the side air outlet. The two top knockout portions located on the top of the housing communicates with the bottom air outlet.
- A recirculation venting cover is also included that is fastened with the air chamber and links with a front air outlet. The outlet of the recirculation venting cover communicates with the vent on the front surface of the housing and links with the vent.
- The housing further is installed with a filter.
- For further understanding of the present invention, refer to the following detailed description illustrating the embodiments and examples of the present invention. The description is for illustrative purpose only and is not intended to limit the scope of the claim.

FIGS. 1-4 . The high efficiency range hood includes ahousing 6 and a smoke exhausting device installed in thehousing 6. The smoke exhausting device includes a snail-shaped air chamber 5, anair turbine 3 installed in theair chamber 5, and anelectric motor 4 installed in theair chamber 5 for rotating theair turbine 3. Theair chamber 5 has anair inlet 52 and at least one air outlet. Thehousing 6 has at least one knockout portion that communicates with the air outlet. The knockout portion communicates with the external air outlet pipe. - In this embodiment, the
housing 6 also is installed with a filter 1. The filter 1 is installed on thehousing 6 and can be disassembled for easy clean and replace. Theair inlet 52 is round-shaped or has other shape. There is afan guard 2 around theair inlet 52 of theair chamber 5. Theair turbine 3 includes aninstallation bottom board 32, acurved fan blade 33 fastened on theinstallation bottom board 32, and afixed frame 31 connected with thecurved fan blade 33. Theair turbine 3 is installed with theelectric motor 4 via theinstallation bottom board 32 so that theelectric motor 4 rotates theair turbine 3 to exhaust the air with oil. - The air outlet on the
air chamber 5 includes twoside air outlets bottom air outlet 54. The twoside air outlets air chamber 5. Thebottom air outlet 54 is located on one surface of theair chamber 5 that is opposite to a surface with theair inlet 52. The knockout portion on thehousing 6 includes afirst knockout 61 located on a back surface of thehousing 6 and two topknockout portions housing 6. Thefirst knockout portion 61 and the topknockout portions 64 are rectangular. Thetop knockout portion 63 is round-shaped. When thefirst knockout portion 61 and thetop knockouts first knockout portion 61 and the topknockout portions first knockout portion 61 and the topknockout portions housing 6 has avent 62. Thevent 62 is composed of a plurality of holes that are disposed at intervals. Thefirst knockout portion 61 located on the back surface of thehousing 6 communicates with theside air outlet 51. The two topknockout portions housing 6 communicates with thebottom air outlet 54. - A
recirculation venting cover 7 is also included. The two sides of therecirculation venting cover 7 respectively form aninlet 71 and anoutlet 72. Theinlet 71 of therecirculation venting cover 7 is fastened with theair chamber 5 and communicates with aside air outlet 53. Theoutlet 72 of therecirculation venting cover 7 communicates with thevent 62 located on the front surface of thehousing 6. - When the external air outlet pipe needs to be linked with the top of the
housing 6, one of the topknockout portions housing 6, theback knockout portion 61 or thevent 62 is opened. The installation process is simple. - The air exhausting device has a snail-shaped
air chamber 5 and anair turbine 3. Theair chamber 5 has anair inlet 52 and air outlet. Thehousing 6 has knockout portion and the knockout portion is linked with the external air outlet pipe. Thereby, the efficiency of the air exhaust is high and meets the specifications of the US energy star, including the efficiency rate (airflow at low speed/low speed power) >2.8 (cubic feet/min/power), the noise at low speed <2.0 Sone, and the airflow at low speed ≧100 (cubic feet/min/power), and its structure is simple. Furthermore, the back surface of thehousing 6 has afirst knockout portion 61 and the top of thehousing 6 hastop knockout portions - The description above only illustrates specific embodiments and examples of the present invention. The present invention should therefore cover various modifications and variations made to the herein-described structure and operations of the present invention, provided they fall within the scope of the present invention as defined in the following appended claims.
Claims (6)
1. A high efficiency range hood, comprising:
a housing; and
a smoke exhausting device disposed in the housing, wherein the smoke exhausting device includes a snail-shaped air chamber, an air turbine installed in the air chamber, and an electric motor installed in the air chamber for rotating the air turbine, the air chamber has an air inlet and at least one air outlet, the housing has at least one knockout portion that communicates with the air outlet, and the knockout portion communicates with an external air outlet pipe.
2. The high efficiency range hood as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the air chamber has a fan guard around the air inlet thereof.
3. The high efficiency range hood as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the air turbine includes an installation bottom board, a curved fan blade fastened on the installation bottom board, and a fastening frame connected with the curved fan blade.
4. The high efficiency range hood as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the air outlet on the air chamber include two side air outlets and a bottom air outlet, the knockout portion on the housing includes a first knockout portion installed on the back surface of the housing and two top knockout portions located on the top of the housing, the front surface of the housing has a vent, the knockout portions located on the back surface of the housing communicates with one of the side air outlets, and the two top knockout portions located on the top of the housing communicates with the bottom air outlet
5. The high efficiency range hood as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising a recirculation venting cover that is fastened with the air chamber and communicates with one of the side air outlets, wherein the outlet of the recirculation venting cover communicates with the vent on the side surface of the housing.
6. The high efficiency range hood as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the housing further has a filter.
