Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention refers to a tamper-violation lid for a cap used in containers or vessels that keep liquid products. More specifically, this invention refers to a lid for hermetic seal with security elements which do not allow any kind of mishandling.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The packaging of high viscosity products or liquid materials requires an appropriate sealing method to prevent the liquid or viscous material from spilling or getting contaminated through the top of the container. These methods are very well known in their field of use and can adopt any appropriate configuration according to the kind of protection or security technique chosen for the liquid or packed material, such as caps for hermetic seal for volatile liquids or materials that can get contaminated or degraded very easily by the air in the environment. The sealing methods or container caps available in the market are described in the patent EP 0 779 227 entitled “Assembly of nesting nozzle”, patent EP 0 806 369 entitled “Sealing cap with a block gasket”, patent EP 0 620 160 entitled “Pressure and Method Fitting-Sealing Cistern”, the patent EP 0 653 358 entitled “Sealing for a Plastic Drum”, patent EP 0 161 746 entitled “Fittable Vacuum Nozzle with Ventilation,” and the patent EP 0 215 538 entitled “Sealing construction with a reinforcement support means.”
  • Along with the need to provide a proper sealing method for containers and vessels, there is an additional requirement that gives the consumer a reliable means to ensure the quality of the product contained. There is knowledge of several lids that incorporate tamper-proof methods that make mishandling of the container and/or contents evident. Currently, there is a number of sealing caps for containers in the market which are described in the patent EP 0 764 591 entitled “Children-proof sealing method with opening indicator”, patent EP 0 324 196 entitled “Strengthen sealing lid that makes any handling evident” and the U.S. Pat. No. 4,320,861 entitled “Molded plastic lid against violation with a traction ring and tearable membranes” also the publication WO 99/22998 entitled “Vacuum nozzle that makes handling evident.”
  • Most of the sealing caps have the disadvantage of needing special equipment or additional stages to put them on the top of a container with the aim of strongly attaching the cap to such container by means of applying pressure.
  • Keeping in mind the defects of the previous technique, it is the purpose of this invention to provide a cap with a lid for hermetic seal of simple construction and operation and, yet, of high efficiency that incorporates security elements that are integrally formed to place the cap manually on a container or vessel by applying pressure.
  • Another purpose of this invention is to provide a lid for hermetic seal that can make any mishandling of the container and/or the contents evident.
  • Still, another purpose this invention has is to provide a lid for hermetic seal which due to the opening and breaking of the security elements a support element forms to attach the cap to the of the container.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention refers to a cap having a lid for hermetic seal with security elements totally formed and that are frangible to provide a method of inviolability that proves the mishandling easily perceptible to the consumer. This invention also refers to a tamper-proof cap for hermetic seal that inserts a holder to attach the cap collar to the container after tearing or breaking the security elements.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The features, particular to this invention, will be detailed in the claims herewith attached. However, the invention itself, due to its organization and operation method, along with other aspects and advantages it has, will be better understood in the following description specifically at being read and relating the drawings thereto, in which similar reference numbers identify identical elements, where:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a cap having a lid for hermetic seal with tamper-proof security elements that protect this invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a top plan view of the cap and the lid for hermetic seal of FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • In relation to the drawings, FIGS. 1 and 2 show different views of the tamper-proof lid with integrally formed security elements hid out in the lid of this invention. Commonly the cap that has a lid for hermetic seal with integrally formed security elements includes a cap 1 that has a collar 10 to be placed on the top of the container (not shown) for its assembly. In order to place and keep collar 10 on the top of the container (not shown), collar 10 must be configured in a way that it is attached by grip pressure on an external portion of the top of the container. Preferably, collar 10 includes a mounting portion 12 to place and keep the cap attached to the container (not shown) and a sealing portion 14 that enables to have hermetic seal in order to prevent the contents from spilling, getting contaminated or volatilizing.
  • Preferably, the mounting portion 12 of collar 10 is an installation structure in the shape of a ring that includes a coupling wall 121 and a stop wall 122 that has both a surface and an underside surface. The coupling wall 121 also includes a rim 124 placed in the middle of it. The stop wall 122 is located on the top part of the mounting portion 12 and it is used to keep collar 10 of cap 1 on the top of the container.
  • The coupling wall 121 is located on the lateral side of the mounting portion 12 and it is used to gather the edge of the top of the container. Preferably, rim 124 of the coupling wall and the underside surface of the stop wall form a cavity 126 to insert the edge (not shown) of the top of the container and to keep the cap of the container in position. Rim 124 on the coupling wall 121 is beveled towards the opposite side of the wall of lid 121 in order to enable the insertion and the grip pressure of collar 10 on the top of the container.
  • The sealing portion 14 of collar 10 of cap 1 of this invention is located adjacent to stop wall 122 of the mounting portion 12. Preferably, the sealing portion is formed integrally with stop wall 122 of mounting portion 12. The sealing portion 14 is an arched wall 141 that runs downwards from stop wall 122. The arched wall 141 of stop wall 121 has a smaller diameter than the diameter of coupling wall 121 of mounting portion 12.
  • The lid for hermetic seal with tamper-proof security elements includes a round flat wall 41 and a flap 45 that runs downwards in a circular and perpendicular way from the round flat wall 41. Flap 45 has an interior and an exterior diameter and it also includes in its lower end a portion of rim 148. The lid for hermetic seal with tamper-proof security elements 4 of this invention creates a hermetic seal through the sealing portion 14 of collar 10. Preferably, the hermetic sealing takes place when the portion of rim 148 of flap 45 of lid 4 is inserted by applying grip pressure against the arched wall 141 of such sealing portion 14, and such portion of the rim 148 is retained by the free end of arched portion 141.
  • In the preferred embodiment of this invention, flat wall 41 of the lid for hermetic seal with tamper-violation security elements 4 has in its periphery a gripping ring in C-form 150 that holds stop wall 122 of mounting portion 12 of collar 10. The gripping ring 150 is attached to the lid for hermetic seal 4 by means of a large number of frangible elements 151 where such number of frangible elements 151 provides a means of inviolability or mishandling easily perceptible to the consumer.
  • The cap with the tamper-proof lid with security elements integrally formed set in a container works as follows: the user will verify the integrity of the frangible elements 151. Once the integrity of the frangible elements is verified, the next step is to break or detach the frangible elements from ring 150 of the tamper-proof lid for hermetic seal. Once the frangible elements 151 are detached, the user can remove lid 4 from the cap. To create the hermetic sealing in the container in order to prevent liquid from spilling, lid 4 is placed on arched wall 141 of the sealing portion 14 of collar 10 and pressure is applied on lid 4 in a way that rim 124 of coupling wall 121 of collar 10 pressure-couples the end of arched wall 141 forming a hermetic seal.
  • However, it has to be understood that despite the fact that in the previous description, the characteristics and advantages of this invention have been described along with the structure details and the purpose of the invention, the disclosure has just illustrative purposes and changes in the details can be made, especially in regards to shape, size and set up of the parts as well as the kind of materials, this within the principles of the invention to the total scope indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the claims herewith attached are expressed. This invention, therefore, should not be considered as restricted except for what the previous technique demands and for the spirit of the herewith attached claims.
