When the ram is to be lowered the needle valve to is operated to open theduct ill to permit the return of the fluid in the cylinder to the reservoir it.
It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the embodiment herein disclosed accomplishes at least the principal object of the invention, that it has uses and advantages other than those herein particularly referred to, and that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention, and accordingly theembodiment disclosed herein is illustrative only and the invention is not limited thereto.
We claim:
1. A hydraulically operable jackhaving a ram cylinder, a reservoir, and a ram in said cylinder, a plurality of operating pump cylinders and pistons communicable with said reservoir and said ram cylinder, and means for efiecting simultaneous opposite reciprocating movement of said pistons, comprising a pair of half nuts each integrally connected to a piston, one having a right hand thread and the other aleft hand thread, and a single rotatable screw having mutilated right and left hand threads thereon respectively engageable with the corresponding thread upon each of said nuts, whereby alternate rotation of said screw in opposite directions will give continuous reciprolatlon of said pistons.

A hydraulically operable jack heating a ram cylinder, a reservoir, a ram in said cylinder, a plurality of operating pump cylinders and pistons communicable with said reservoir and said ram cylinder, and means for eflfecting positive simultaneous opposite reciprocating movement or" said pistons, comprising a screw having a. righthand thread for operating one of said pistons and a. left-hand thread for operating another of said pistons, and cooperating screw-engaging.

3. A hydraulically operable jack comprising: a ram cylinder; a ram in said cylinder; a reservoir; a plurality of cooperating cylinders each intersected at one end bya bore communicable with said reservoir; a. plurality of passages each intersected at one end by one of said bores for establishing communication between said reservoir and said ram cylinder; valve means disposed in each of said bores and passages for controlling the flow of fluid therethrough; a piston reciprocally mounted in each of said cooperating cylinders; and screw means connected with correspending screw means on saidpistons, rotatable to'actuate said pistons in opposite directions with respect to each other, whereby fluid is withdrawn from said reservoir, forced through said bores and said passages into said ram cylinder to operate said ram.
4. A hydraulically operable jack, comprising: a ram cylinder; a ram in said cylinder; a reservoir; 9. pair of cooperating cylinders each intersected at one end by a bore, disposed substantially upright, communicable with said reservoir; a pair of passages each intersected at one end by one of said bores for establishing communication between said reservoir and said ram cylinder; valve means disposed in each or said bores and passages for controlling the how of fluid therethrough; a piston reciprocally mounted in each of said ccoperating cylinders; and rotatable means connected with said pistons, rotatable in a direction transverse with respect to the movement of said pistons, for actuating said pistons in opposite directions with respect to each other, whereby fluid is withdrawn from said reservoir, forced through said bores and said passages into said ram cylinder to operate said rain.

A hydraulically operable jack, comprising: a casting providing a reservoir; a rain cylinder disposed in said casting; a ram in said ram cylinder; a plurality of spaced apart pump cylinders arranged substantially parallel to each other in said casting, and communicating through ducts in said casting with said'ramcylindcr and with said reservoir; a. hollow projection extending integrally of said casting, and corrununicating at its inner end with said pump cylinders; a pump piston disposed in each of said pump cylinders; screw means, disposed in said hollow projection, connected to said pistons; rotatably mounted screw means disposed in said hollow projection and having its threads in engagement with said piston screw means, and rotatable to actuate said pump pistons in oppositj directions with respect to each other, whereby fluid is withdrawn from said reservoir and forced through said pump cylinders and ducts into said ram cylinder to operate said ram;
