IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE TRAY RECEIVER AND ELEVATOR FOR LOZENGE-MACHINES.

Be it known that I, THOMAS ROBERTSON, of the oity of Toronto, in the county of York, and Province of Ontario, Oanada, have invented a Portable Lozenge-Tray Receiver and Elevator for Lozenge-Machines, Whioh improverhent is fully set forth in the following speeification and accompanying drawings.
My invention l1as relation to a machine which is designed t0 be used in oonneetion with tl1at dass 0f lozenge-maohines in whieh the lozenges are delivered automatically upon trays.
My invention consists 0f a portable frame, fittedas an elevator-oage, and operated to move up and down Within guide-posts at the delivery end of lozenge-maehines by suitable geanng.
The portable frame is provided with any required number of tray-bearings, 011 whieh the lozenge-trays ean be plaoed one above the other. The frame is also provided with easters, on which it oan be rolled in and 0ut 0f the drying-room without any handling of the lozenges or lozenge-trays.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 an end view of a ma ehine embodying my invention. Fig. 3 is a perspeotive view of a loaded frame detaehed fron1 the elevating meohanism.
A is the delivery end of a lozenge-maehine, on whioh the tray slide-bearings A are coutinued to a working conneotion with the elevator-frame. B is a portable elevator-frame fitted Within guide-posts O in such manner that it ean be hoisted up and 1et down from difl'erent floor-levels, as required.
'Ihe hoisting and lowerin g mechanism illustrated consists of a shaft, D, worm D aflixed thereon, \v0rm-Whee1D shaft D and windingdrum D Eis the chain or rope eonneeting the elevator-frame witl1 the Winding drum. 'lhe connection of the ehain or rope to the elevator is made by a hook, e, in order that the frame may be' readily attaohed. The frame is operated to move up or down by the handle D.
Although the hoisting mechanism shown is convenient for the purpose required, it is obvious that tl1is part of the maohine could. be very mach varied in eonstruotion and. arrangement.
'Ihe frames B, 0f whioh there may be anumher, are fitted with tray-bearings B, eorresponding in gage and section with the slidebearings of the lozenge-maohine, and plaoed at suitable intervals apart, up the whole height 0f frame. The intervals 0f space between eaoh set of bearings are made suffi ciently wide to allow a loaded lozenge-tray to be slipped in without any disturbanoe of its oontents.
On the bottom frame B easters B are attaohed, 011 whieh casters the frame may be n1oved 011 the difi"erent floors when detaohed from the elevating meehanism.
At the fioor-level 011 which the drylng-room is situated two of the guideposts are removed, t0 allow the frame B to be rolled out.
In operation, an empty frame is hoisted up 0r let down unti1 the lower or upper set of tray-bearings is level Witl1 the slide-bars of the lozenge-maohine, a loaded lozenge-tray is then slipped in, and. the frame B raised or lowered until the next set of tray-bearings oorresponds with the lozenge-maehine slidebare, as before, and so 011, the intervals being filled suoeessively as the trays come out 0f machine.
Wl1en the frame is filled lt is hoisted up or let down to the floor upon Which the dryingroo1n is situated, and removed directly thereto, without any handling of the lozenge-frames or their eontents.
In addition to oonvenience and cheapness in handling the goods by this system, a further advantage is obtained in the faot that the goods are not damaged by beiug handled when in a soft oondition.
