Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • There are no applications related to this application.
  • STATEMENT REGARDING FEDERAL SPONSORSHIP
  • No invention claimed in this application was made under Federally sponsored research or development.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • This invention relates to hat related devices, specifically to those devices as comprise a mechanism to stretch, shape, or display a hat. Many devices to stretch hats are already known.
  • The utility patents to Schellman (U.S. Pat. No. 389,014), Scharbaugh (U.S. Pat. No. 792,354), Kennefick (U.S. Pat. No. 667,019), Wolf (U.S. Pat. No. 724,227), Tanner (U.S. Pat. No. 442,211), Levering (U.S. Pat. No. 157,845), Schlesinger (U.S. Pat. No. 2,075,626), Vlasis (U.S. Pat. No. 2,434,184), and Vandewege (U.S. Pat. No. 4,673,113) are typical of a class of hat stretchers where a central adjustment block adjusts the position of the shaping blocks. These shaping blocks then hold the hat in place through outward tension. The present invention is directed to a stretching mechanism which can be used to display hats, and in which the shaping blocks have a lip to: 1) hold the hat in place, and 2) seat the hat properly. Further the central adjustment block is provided with an angled hole for placing the hat on a post or other suitable display rack.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The Hat Display Device comprises an adjustable spacer, and two shaped blocks. The spacer may include one or more apertures to permit attachment of the Hat Display Device to a support stand. The adjustable spacer is attached by any suitable method to both of the shaped blocks so that the overall length of the adjustable spacer and shaped blocks is adjustable. The blocks are formed to approximate the inside of the head band of a hat. When the Hat Display Device is placed within a hat, expansion of the adjustable spacer forces the shaped blocks against the inner surface of the headband retains the hat in both position and shape.
  • The shaped blocks may include a lip to increase the ability of the Hat Display Device 1 to retain a hat.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the Hat Display Device.
  • FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken through the aperture.
  • FIG. 3 is the Hat Display Device in use.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The Hat Display Device 1 comprises, an adjustable spacer 3, a first shaped block 4 for placement in a hat 2 to be displayed, and a second shaped block 5, said second shaped block 5 attached to the second end 7 of said adjustable spacer 3. The spacer 3 may include one or more apertures 6 to permit attachment of the Hat Display Device 1 to a support stand 12. The adjustable spacer 3 is attached by any suitable method to both the first 4 and second shaped blocks 5 so that the overall length of the adjustable spacer 3 and shaped blocks 4,5 is adjustable. The first block 4 and second block 5 are each formed to approximate the inside of the head band 8 of a hat 2 with the first block forming the front half of the head band 8 of the hat 2 and the second shaped block 5 formed to approximate the rear half 9 of the headband 8 of the hat 2.
  • When the Hat Display Device 1 is placed within a hat 2, expansion of the adjustable spacer 3 forces the first shaped block 4 and the second shaped block 5 against the inner surface 10 of the headband 8, retaining the hat 2 in both position and shape.
  • The First shaped block 4, the second shaped block 5, or both shaped blocks 4,5 may include a lip 11 to increase the ability of the Hat Display Device 1 to retain a hat 2.
