Abstract
A charm bracelet and charm with a recording module for recording messages facilitates transferring recorded messages by providing recording device in a charm that may be detached from the charm bracelet.

- 1. Field
- The apparatuses, methods, and systems described herein relate to jewelry and more particularly jewelry with embedded recording and playback technologies.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- The present invention provides a charm bracelet and charm attachment with at least one of a recording and playback module for recording and transferring content. The charm may be used to record content and to transfer the content by transferring the charm to another person with a charm bracelet so that the recipient may play the content message at a later time. The content may be a message.
- Provided herein are apparatuses, methods, and systems for providing a charm bracelet and charm with a recording module. An apparatus, a method, and a system for providing a charm bracelet and charm with a recording module may comprise providing a jewelry bracelet for hanging one or more pieces of jewelry. In addition, a piece of jewelry may be one or more charms with an embedded recording module.
- Provided herein is an apparatus for a wearable accessory to be worn by an individual and a content module reversibly attachable to the wearable accessory. The content module may possess the ability to perform either one or both of recording and playback of content.
- In another embodiment, a method is provided for providing a wearable accessory to be worn by an individual and a content module reversibly attachable to the wearable accessory. The content module may possess the ability to perform either one or both of recording and playback of content.
- In yet another embodiment, a system is provided for a wearable accessory to be worn by an individual and a content module reversibly attachable to the wearable accessory. The content module may possess the ability to perform either one or both of recording and playback of content.
- In embodiments, the accessory may be an item of jewelry such as a bracelet, a cufflink, a watch, a necklace, a ring, an anklet, a chain, an earring and the like. In embodiments, the accessory may be a fashion accessory such as a belt, a hat, a glove, a pair of glasses, a scarf, a clutch, a purse and the like. In embodiments, the accessory may be an item of clothing such as a pair of pants, a shirt, a shoe, jeans and the like. In embodiments, the accessory may be made from a combination of cloth, leather, plastic, synthetic material, gemstone, metal and precious metal.
- In embodiments, the content may be audio content, video content, text, a hologram, or a combination of audio, video, text and a hologram, and the like. In embodiments the content may comprise a message.
- In embodiments, the content module may incorporate an input feature, an output feature, microelectronics, at least one microphone, at least one speaker, at least one camera, at least one visual display device, at least one screen, and the like.
- In embodiments, the content module may include at least one storage means, at least one memory, at least one drive, at least one removable memory, at least one removable memory card, at least one port for at least one removable memory card, at least one button and the like. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one button for at least one function selected from the group consisting of: play, stop, pause, record, advance, rewind, volume, and the like.
- In embodiments, the content module may include at least one port. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one input port. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one output port. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one port for headphones. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one microphone. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one port with both input and output functionality. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one port with both input and output functionality which may accept headphones and a microphone. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one data port. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one USB port. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one HDMI port.
- In embodiments, the content module may include at least one power source such as at least one battery, at least one rechargeable battery, at least one disposable battery, at least one solar cell, and the like. In embodiments, the content module may include at least one power source such as a solar power source, at least one kinetic power source, at least one power source which converts kinetic energy to electricity, at least one power source which converts heat energy to electricity, and the like. In embodiments, the content module may accept power from an external power source.
- In embodiments, the content module may include at least one equalizer.
- In embodiments, the content module may be a charm attachment.

- In embodiments, the content module may be personalized. In embodiments, the content module may display user applied decals.
- In embodiments, the content module may be reversibly attachable to the wearable accessory through the use of a clasp, a fastener, an adhesive, and/or Velcro; through friction; by magnetic or electromagnetic force; and the like. In embodiments, the content module may be embedded in the wearable accessory.
- In embodiments, the content module may verify the identity of a user before at least one of recording and playing back content, before deleting content, before overwriting content, and the like.
- In embodiments, the content module may require a user to input a passcode or password and the like prior to least one of recording and playing back content. In embodiments, the content module may require a user to press a sequence of buttons prior to least one of recording and playing back content. In embodiments, the content module may verify the identity of a user based on at least one biometric measurement, a fingerprint of the user, the voice of the user, or the like, before recording or playing back content.
- In embodiments, the content module may be a member of a collection of content modules, a series of content modules, or the like. In embodiments, the content module may be a collectible. In embodiments, the content module may be traded, transferred, or the like. In embodiments, the content module may be transferred allowing content to be transferred from one user to another.
- In embodiments, the content module may communicate with another content module, transfer content to another content module, receive data from another content module, or the like.
- In embodiments, the content module may communicate via a network, a cellular network, or the like. In embodiments, the content module may be characterized by an IP address. In embodiments, the content module may be web-enabled. In embodiments, the content module may at least one of send and receive information over a WiFi connection, Internet, wireless connection or the like.

The detachable piece of jewelry may comprise a bracelet band and a charm attachment, the charm attachment having an embedded recording module. The charm may be detached from the bracelet and transferred to the intended recipient of the secret message. The charm may be designed to disguise the functionality of the embedded recording module, thereby increasing the secrecy of the stored recorded message.
- One embodiment is depicted in
FIG. 2 . Anapparatus 200 comprises abracelet band 202 that may be worn on the wrist of an individual. In an embodiment, thebracelet band 202 may comprise a leather band. In other embodiments, thebracelet band 202 may comprise a plastic band. In some embodiments, thebracelet band 202 may comprise a band made from one or more synthetic materials. In some embodiments, thebracelet band 202 may comprise a band made from one or more natural materials. In some embodiments, thebracelet band 202 may comprise a metal band. In one embodiment, theapparatus 200 comprises multiple, linkedband segments 204. - In another embodiment, the
apparatus 200 comprises acharm attachment 208, having an embedded recording device, attached to thebracelet band 202. In one embodiment, thecharm attachment 208 comprises arecord button 210 that may initiate recording on the embedded recording device. In other embodiments, therecord button 210 may also terminate recording on the embedded recording device. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 comprises aplay button 212 that may initiate playback on the embedded recording device. In some other embodiments, theplay button 212 may also terminate playback on the embedded recording device. - In another embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may comprise amicrophone 214 connected to the embedded recording device. In other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise aspeaker 218 connected to the embedded recording device. In embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may include a headphone jack through which a user may listen to a recorded message using headphones. In embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may include headphones. In embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may play the message at a volume such that a user may only hear the message if thecharm attachment 208 is placed near the ear. In embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may allow for the recording and/or playback volume to be adjusted. In embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may include any one or more of the devices and/or features described herein. - In another embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may contain security features. Operation of thecharm attachment 208 may require a pass code, password, voice recognition or the like. In an embodiment, the charm may have several buttons and the correct combination of buttons must be pressed before playback and/or recording is permitted. In another embodiment, a pass code, password, voice recognition or the like may be used to verify the identity of a user, before a user is permitted to erase or record over a certain message. - In another embodiment, the recording functionality of the
charm attachment 208 may be obfuscated by decorative designs. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise a form factor with apolka dot design 220, another design or the like. In another embodiment, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise a form factor in a decorative shape. For example, but without limitation, the decorative shape may be a star, a heart, a moon, a diamond, a horseshoe, a clover, a rainbow, a balloon, a face, a bicycle, a musical instrument, a piece of sports equipment or the like. In other embodiments, one or more of the buttons controlling the embedded recording device (e.g. therecord button 210 and the play button 212) may be designed to match the charm attachment's 208 decorative design. In one embodiment, the buttons may appear to be part of apolka dot design 220. In some other embodiments, themicrophone 214 may be disguised as part of the charm attachment's 208 decorative design. In one embodiment, themicrophone 214 may appear as a part of apolka dot design 220. In some embodiments, thespeaker 218 may be disguised as part of the charm attachment's 208 decorative design. In one embodiment, thespeaker 218 may appear as a part of apolka dot design 220. - In another embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may be attached to thebracelet band 202 by aclasp 222. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may be attached to thebracelet band 202 by a magnet. In other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may be attached to thebracelet band 202 by a clip. In some other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may be attached to thebracelet band 202 by a detachable magnet clasp. In other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may be attached to thebracelet band 202 by other means. - In another embodiment, the
apparatus 200 comprises a plurality of charm attachments. In some embodiments, the plurality of charm attachments may be a plurality ofcharm attachments 208, having embedded recording devices. In other embodiments, the plurality of charm attachments may comprise one ormore charm attachments 208, having embedded recording devices, and one or more decorative charm attachments 224. In some other embodiments, the decorative charm attachment 224 may comprise a decorative shape, for example, but not limited to, a star, a heart, a moon, a diamond, a horseshoe, a clover, a rainbow, a balloon, a face, a bicycle, a musical instrument, a piece of sports equipment or the like. In other embodiments, the decorative charm attachment 224 may comprise text, for example, but not limited to, a person's name, a school name, a phrase or a logo. - Referring now to
FIG. 3 , in one embodiment, acharm attachment 208 may include an embeddedrecording device 300. In some embodiments, the embeddedrecording device 300 may comprise aspeaker 302 audio output. In other embodiments, the embeddedrecording device 300 may comprise amicrophone 304. In another embodiment, the embeddedrecording device 300 may comprise aplay button 308. In some other embodiments, the embeddedrecording device 300 may comprise arecord button 310. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , arecording device 400 may include a microelectronic recording device, such as with amicrophone 402 connected to anintegrated circuit 404. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , thecharm attachment 208 may be transferred from afirst person 502 to asecond person 504. In one embodiment, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise sending a message to a classmate as thefirst person 502 passes thesecond person 504 in the hallway. In another embodiment, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise leaving a message from afirst person 502 at a second person's 504 desk. In still another embodiment, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise leaving a message from afirst person 502 in a second person's 504 locker. In other embodiments, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise leaving a message from afirst person 502 in a second person's 504 backpack. In some other embodiments, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise passing a message from afirst person 502 to asecond person 504 during class. In some embodiments, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise trading afirst charm attachment 208 for asecond charm attachment 208. In some other embodiments, transferring thecharm attachment 208 may comprise exchanging afirst charm attachment 208 for asecond charm attachment 208 in order to exchange recorded messages. - In another embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may be a collectible charm. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may be a collectible charm related to one of, but not limited to, a promotional, movie-related charm; a promotional, television show-related charm; a promotional, musical performer-related charm; a promotional, sports team-related charm; and the like. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may reflect a personal style. In some other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may reflect a personal style by one or more of: color coordinating, providing themed charms, providing a set of charms and the like. - In another embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may be personalized. In one embodiment, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise a picture frame for holding a picture. In some embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise a charm attachment with one or more user-applied decals. In other embodiments, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise a charm attachment painted by a user. In another embodiment, thecharm attachment 208 may be configured to allow identification of the owner of the wearable item. In still another embodiment, thecharm attachment 208 may comprise the initials of the owner of the charm attachment. - In one embodiment, the
charm attachment 208 may further comprise a power source. In some embodiments, the power source may comprise a battery. In some other embodiments, the battery may be a rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery may comprise, for example, but may not be limited to, a nickel-cadmium battery, a nickel-metal hydride battery, a rechargeable alkaline battery, or some other type of rechargeable battery. In other embodiments, the battery may comprise a disposable battery. The disposable battery may comprise, for example, but may not be limited to, a zinc-carbon battery, a zinc-chloride battery, an alkaline battery, a silver-oxide battery, a lithium iron disulfide battery, a lithium-thionyl chloride battery, a mercury battery, a zinc-air battery, a thermal battery, a nickel oxyhydroxide battery, a paper battery, or some other type of disposable battery. In some embodiments, the power source may comprise a photovoltaic power source. In other embodiments, the power source may comprise a power source that produces energy from motion, similar to the power source in the self-winding wristwatch or a wind-up toy. In another embodiment, the power source may comprise a power source that produces energy from heat. In some embodiments, the power source may comprise a fuel cell. In one embodiment, the power source may comprise an external power source. - Referring to
FIG. 6 , thecharm attachment 208 may be branded with one ormore logos 600. In one embodiment, thelogo 600 may comprise a brand name. In some embodiments, thelogo 600 may comprise a brand name in conjunction with an exemplary charm. In other embodiments, thelogo 600 may comprise a brand name in conjunction with a charm attachment attached to a bracelet band. In some other embodiments, thelogo 600 may comprise a brand name in conjunction with an exemplary charm attachment and the silhouette of a person. In one embodiment, thelogo 600 may comprise packaging. Thelogo 600 may be printed on a box or other packaging in which thecharm attachment 208 is contained. Thelogo 600 may be printed on a medium used in packaging, such as, but not limited to, a sheet of paper, a cardboard, a sheet of plastic, a tin, a blister pack, or some other medium. - In various preferred embodiments, the item of jewelry may be a bracelet, necklace, anklet, earring, ring, or other jewelry item, in each case with a detachable or removable attachment that is capable of recording a message.
- The elements depicted in flow charts and block diagrams throughout the figures imply logical boundaries between the elements. However, according to engineering practices, the depicted elements and the functions thereof may be implemented as parts of monolithic modules, as standalone modules, or as modules that employ external routines, code, services, and so forth, or any combination of these, and all such implementations are within the scope of the present disclosure. Thus, while the foregoing drawings and description set forth functional aspects of the disclosed systems, no particular arrangement for implementing these functional aspects should be inferred from these descriptions unless explicitly stated or otherwise clear from the context.
- Similarly, it will be appreciated that the various steps identified and described above may be varied, and that the order of steps may be adapted to particular applications of the techniques disclosed herein. All such variations and modifications are intended to fall within the scope of this disclosure. As such, the depiction and/or description of an order for various steps should not be understood to require a particular order of execution for those steps, unless required by a particular application, or explicitly stated or otherwise clear from the context.
- The methods and systems described herein may be deployed in part or in whole through a machine that executes computer software, program codes, and/or instructions on a processor. The processor may be part of a server, client, network infrastructure, mobile computing platform, stationary computing platform, or other computing platform. A processor may be any kind of computational or processing device capable of executing program instructions, codes, binary instructions and the like. The processor may be or may include a signal processor, digital processor, embedded processor, microprocessor or any variant such as a co-processor (math co-processor, graphic co-processor, communication co-processor and the like) and the like that may directly or indirectly facilitate execution of program code or program instructions stored thereon. In addition, the processor may enable execution of multiple programs, threads, and codes. The threads may be executed simultaneously to enhance the performance of the processor and to facilitate simultaneous operations of the application. By way of implementation, methods, program codes, program instructions and the like described herein may be implemented in one or more threads. The thread may spawn other threads that may have assigned priorities associated with them; the processor may execute these threads based on priority or any other order based on instructions provided in the program code. The processor may include memory that stores methods, codes, instructions and programs as described herein and elsewhere. The processor may access a storage medium through an interface that may store methods, codes, and instructions as described herein and elsewhere. The storage medium associated with the processor for storing methods, programs, codes, program instructions or other type of instructions capable of being executed by the computing or processing device may include but may not be limited to one or more of a CD-ROM, DVD, memory, hard disk, flash drive, RAM, ROM, cache and the like.
- The methods and systems described herein may be deployed in part or in whole through a machine that executes computer software on a server, client, firewall, gateway, hub, router, or other such computer and/or networking hardware. The server may provide an interface to other devices including, without limitation, clients, other servers, printers, database servers, print servers, file servers, communication servers, distributed servers and the like. Additionally, this coupling and/or connection may facilitate remote execution of program across the network. The networking of some or all of these devices may facilitate parallel processing of a program or method at one or more location without deviating from the scope of the invention. In addition, all the devices attached to the server through an interface may include at least one storage medium capable of storing methods, programs, code and/or instructions. A central repository may provide program instructions to be executed on different devices. In this implementation, the remote repository may act as a storage medium for program codes, instructions, and programs.
- The methods and systems described herein may be deployed in part or in whole through network infrastructures. The network infrastructure may include elements such as computing devices, servers, routers, hubs, firewalls, clients, personal computers, communication devices, routing devices and other active and passive devices, modules and/or components as known in the art. The computing and/or non-computing device(s) associated with the network infrastructure may include, apart from other components, a storage medium such as flash memory, buffer, stack, RAM, ROM and the like. The processes, methods, program codes, instructions described herein and elsewhere may be executed by one or more of the network infrastructural elements.
- The methods, program codes, and instructions described herein and elsewhere may be implemented on a cellular network having multiple cells. The cellular network may either be frequency division multiple access (FDMA) network or code division multiple access (CDMA) network. The cellular network may include mobile devices, cell sites, base stations, repeaters, antennas, towers, and the like.
- The methods, program codes, and instructions described herein and elsewhere may be implemented on or through mobile devices. The mobile devices may include navigation devices, cell phones, mobile phones, mobile personal digital assistants, laptops, palmtops, netbooks, pagers, electronic books readers, music players and the like. These devices may include, apart from other components, a storage medium such as a flash memory, buffer, RAM, ROM and one or more computing devices. The computing devices associated with mobile devices may be enabled to execute program codes, methods, and instructions stored thereon. Alternatively, the mobile devices may be configured to execute instructions in collaboration with other devices. The mobile devices may communicate with base stations interfaced with servers and configured to execute program codes. The mobile devices may communicate on a peer to peer network, mesh network, or other communications network. The program code may be stored on the storage medium associated with the server and executed by a computing device embedded within the server. The base station may include a computing device and a storage medium. The storage device may store program codes and instructions executed by the computing devices associated with the base station.
- The computer software, program codes, and/or instructions may be stored and/or accessed on machine readable media that may include: computer components, devices, and recording media that retain digital data used for computing for some interval of time; semiconductor storage known as random access memory (RAM); mass storage typically for more permanent storage, such as optical discs, forms of magnetic storage like hard disks, tapes, drums, cards and other types; processor registers, cache memory, volatile memory, non-volatile memory; optical storage such as CD, DVD; removable media such as flash memory (e.g. USB sticks or keys), floppy disks, magnetic tape, paper tape, punch cards, standalone RAM disks, Zip drives, removable mass storage, off-line, and the like; other computer memory such as dynamic memory, static memory, read/write storage, mutable storage, read only, random access, sequential access, location addressable, file addressable, content addressable, network attached storage, storage area network, bar codes, magnetic ink, and the like.
- The methods and systems described herein may transform physical and/or or intangible items from one state to another. The methods and systems described herein may also transform data representing physical and/or intangible items from one state to another.
- While the invention has been disclosed in connection with the preferred embodiments shown and described in detail, various modifications and improvements thereon will become readily apparent to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the spirit and scope of the present invention is not to be limited by the foregoing examples, but is to be understood in the broadest sense allowable by law. All documents referenced herein are hereby incorporated by reference.
Claims (40)
1. An apparatus comprising:
a wearable accessory to be worn on an individual; and
a content module reversibly attachable to the wearable accessory, wherein the content module possesses the ability to at least one of record and playback content.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the accessory is an item of jewelry.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content is audio content and a hologram.

12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content is audio content and at least one of the wearable accessory and the content module is associated with a hologram.
13. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content is at least one of audio, video, text and a hologram.

24. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content module includes at least one memory.

28. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content module includes at least one port for at least one removable memory card.

48. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the content module includes at least one power source which converts kinetic energy to electricity.

a bracelet band to be worn on the wrist of an individual; and
a charm attachment, having an embedded recording device, removably attachable to the bracelet band.

providing a wearable item, wherein the wearable item includes a facility for disposing a removable and replaceable token; and
a voice recording facility associated with the token, whereby a user may exchange the token with a wearer of a similar wearable item.
