Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a paintball gun.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Today, survival game has become a very popular recreation since it provides the player with an atmosphere of more reality and promotes the feeling of attendance at the real shooting site, making the player feel enjoyable.
  • To strengthen the performance of the paintball gun, various improvements have been made to its different parts. Conventionally, the body and the barrel of the paintball are made of metal material, which will indirectly affect the user s mobility due to the heavy weight of the metal material.
  • In addition, the use condition and surrounding of the inner and outer surfaces of the body and the barrel have never been considered when designing a conventional paintball gun. For example, the body of the paintball gun and the inner surface of the barrel must be smooth and precise, while the outer surface of the gun must be aesthetic and comfortable to grip, hence a paintball gun made with a single material cannot satisfy all those requirements.
  • On top of that, the barrel of a conventional paintball gun is usually connected a threaded connecting portion by means of clamping or gluing, so as to allow the barrel to be screwed to the front end of the body of the paintball gun. However, such clamping or gluing connection structure is not only difficult to implement but also weak in structure strength and will adversely affect the aesthetic appearance of the paintball gun.
  • The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to solve the abovementioned problems by providing a paintball gun which comprises: a handle bar connected to a part of a body, and a barrel connected to a front end of the body. The body and the barrel are made of metal material, and the outer surfaces of the body and the barrel are partially coated with a cladding layer which comprises a carbon fiber layer and a resin layer.
  • The barrel comprises an inner pipe which is made of metal material and includes a base and a connecting portion, at an outer surface of the base is disposed the cladding layer, the connecting portion extends axially from one end of the base to connect the body.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a paintball gun in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is an amplified cross sectional view of a part of a paintball gun in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is an amplified cross sectional view of a part of a paintball gun in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a barrel of the paintball gun in accordance with the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The present invention will be clearer from the following description when viewed together with the accompanying drawings, which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a paintball gun 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises: a handle bar 10 connected to a lower end of a body 20, and a barrel 30 connected to a front end of the body 20. The body 20 and the barrel 30 are made of metal material, such as steel or aluminum.
  • In addition, the metal material is coated with a cladding layer 40 which comprises a carbon fiber layer and a resin layer which is processed by hot melting so as to form a protection layer to the outer surface of the metal material. The raw material of the carbon fiber can be polyacrylonitrile, bitumen, or rayon, and the resin layer can be epoxy resin.
  • Between the metal material and the cladding layer 40 is disposed a filling layer 50 which can be made of plastic foam, such as polyurethane, polystyrene, and polyethylene. Arranging the filling layer 50 between the metal material and the cladding layer 40 can provide the body 20 and the barrel 30 with a predetermined outer configuration and appearance.
  • Referring then to FIG. 3, the paintball gun 1 can further comprise an outer painting layer 60 which can be transparent or color paint coated on the outer surface of the cladding layer 40 to add gloss and make the paintball gun 1 have aesthetic appearance.
  • Referring finally to FIG. 4, the barrel 30 comprises an inner pipe 31 which includes a base 32 and a connecting portion 33. At the outer surface of the base 32 is disposed the cladding layer 40. The connecting portion 33 extends axially from one end of the base 32 and is integrally provided with a threaded portion for connecting the body 20. In addition, the inner pipe 31 further comprises a shooting hole 34 penetrating the whole length of the inner pipe 31 and in communication with the bore inside the body 20. The inner pipe 31 is made of metal material.
  • With the above disclosure, the present invention can achieve the following advantages:
  • 1, the inner and outer surfaces of the body and the barrel of the paintball are made of two different materials in such a manner that the inner surface is made of metal, and the outer surface is partially or fully made of carbon fiber composite material, so as to provide the paintball gun with better rigidity and tenacity, further, under the same mechanical strength, to enable the paintball gun to be manufactured with less amount of metal material, namely, the paintball gun of the present invention is light weight as compared with the conventional pure metal made paintball gun.
  • 2, since paintball gun needs to have high structure strength and high accuracy, its inner material must be metal.
  • 3, survival game is an outdoor activity, and the metal barrel and body of the conventional paintball gun are most likely to become hot after being exposed to the sunlight, making it uncomfortable for the player to hold. Therefore, the paintball gun of the present invention is coated with the carbon fiber composite material which can resist the sun radiation, thus it doesn t have the problem that the paintball gun will become hot after being exposed to the sunlight.
  • 4, the filling layer make it possible to form different concave and convex configurations on the outer surface of the barrel and the body of the paintball gun, overcoming the disadvantage of boring appearance of the conventional paintball gun. Further, the filling layer is made of foamed material, which provides the paintball gun with better sound-proof and shock-absorbing performance, thus considerably improving the shooting stability.
  • 5, since the cladding layer is coated with a painting layer which forms a bright and smooth outer layer on the outer surface of the cladding layer, whenever the body and the barrel of the paintball gun are dirtied with dust or color of the paintball, they can be cleaned and washed off easily, making the maintenance of the paintball gun become convenient. Furthermore, the painting layer adds gloss to the paintball gun and makes it have aesthetic appearance.
  • On the other hand, providing the cladding layer on the barrel has the following advantages:
  • 1, since the carbon fiber material is not easy to form the threaded portion, the threaded portion of the present invention is integrally formed on the connection portion of the inner pipe of the barrel instead of additionally forming a non-integral connecting portion on the rear end of the barrel by means of clamping or gluing. Hence, the barrel of the present invention has more strong strength and is more durable to use as compared with the convention one.
  • 2, since the inner pipe of the barrel of the present invention is made of metal material, it can be processed to form a smooth inner surface with less friction resistance, making the shooting process smoother and preventing the accumulation of dust on the inner surface of the barrel, making it easy to clean.
  • While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it is clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
