Thespeed ofthe motor 20 and blower I6 may be varied by means of a suitable variable. resistance or rheostat 58 arrangedV in circuit with Operation: The motor 20 is set in operation and the same drives, directly, the blower I6 (Fig. 6). At the same time the motor 20 operates the pump pistons 5I through the clutchy and gear systems 23 and 24, which are of conventional design, as hereinbefore stated and described (Figs. 6, 9 and 10). The pump pistons 5I are alternately reciprocated up and down, and on the suction or up stroke of each piston 5I sucks water into the corresponding cylinder 52, from the tank I2 of casing I0, by way ofthe water supply line 26-54 and the corresponding ball check valve 55. On the downstroke of eachk piston-diaphragm 5I, thercorresponding ball check valve 55 reseats and closes by gravity and the downwardly moving piston forces the water out of the cylinder 52 through the corresponding passage 56 and ball check valve 51 into the T 33; thence through the pipe 28, through overflow valve` 29, through the pipe 30 into the distributor passage 3I and from the passage3l through the branch passages or nozzles 32 into the blower I6, to be commingled thereby with the air sucked into the blower through the inlet I8. The blower I6 blows the commingled air and water vapor into and circulates it through the chamber I I, wherein it circulates around the expansion or cooling coil I4, and finally the action of the blower I6 'forces the cooled and washed air out of the chamber II,
by way of the outlet 22, to the room area or to distribution pipes, as desired.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my in- Vvention into effect, this -is capable of variation and modification, without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variationsand modications as come within the scope of the appended claims. l
Having thus describedvmy invention what I claim as new and desire to protect .by Letters Patent is:
1. An air cooling and washing device, comprising the combination of a casing including alower section providing a water tank and an upper section mounted upon the lower section and together with the latter providing. an air cooling and washing chamber having an outlet, an air Y cooling unit in said chamber, a blower, a housing for the blower having an outlet below the blower opening into the upper section of said chamber, a member providing an inlet into said blower housing and having formed therein a distributer passage and a series of branch passages leadingfromsaiddistributer passage into said inlet, means providing a water-conducting passage having an inlet in the chamber and an outlet into said distributer passage, a dual pump for forcing water through said water-conducting passage from the chamber to the distributer passage, and a single power unit for simultaneously operating the blower and the pump.
2. An aircooling and Washing device, comprising the combinationof a casing including superimposed sections` mounted for communication one upon the. other, the lower section providing a water tank and together with the remaining portion of the casing providingl an air cooling and washing chamber having an outlet in its top, an air cooling unit in said chamber, a Vblower mounted upon said top, a housing for' the blower having an outlet opening into the top of said chamber, a member providing an inlet into said blower housing, said member having formed therein an annular distributer passage and a series of branch passages radiating from the distributer passage into said inlet, means providing a water conducting passage having an inlet in the chamber and an outlet Ainto said distributer passage, overflow means'in the water conducting passage, a dual pump for forcing water through said -water-conducting passage from the chamber to the distributer passage, and
a single'power unit for simultaneously operating the blower and the pump.
