Between the lower setting member and the coupling disc there is provided a coupling spring which has one end on the setting member and e the other on the'coupling'disc, and by its ten- -sion tends constantly to produce coupling, that is to say to turn the coupling disc. In the uncoupled position the setting member and also the coupling disc are secured by projections which respectively engage in notches in the setting member and the Acoupling disc, said projections being located on sleeves, one of the Vsleeves being A, axially displaceable but not rotatable on a xed part of ythe housing while the other sleeve is mounted on the rst sleeve so as to be axially Adisplaceable but not rotatable thereon. In dependence on the insertionof the projectile in the setting socket, the sleeves carrying the projections are disengaged from their locked positions, so that under the action or the released coupling spring the coupling disc is coupled with the constantly rotating driving device.
With this arrangement, the setting member andthe coupling disc are locked in their un- Y coupled position by locking members, the one being secured against rotation directly and the other by'means of the rst, in relation to the xed part of the housing. Hence, when there is play between the xed part of the housing and the inner sleeve placed directly thereon in 7 order to secure the position of rest of the lower setting member, the setting member carryingY the y lower fuse setting projection when in the coupled position, can deviate to the extent of the magni- 1 tude of this clearance from the desired neutral position. " According to tile invention, in orderjt'o avoid the disadvantageos torreon or the pray-petween the locking device and its guide member on the housing in the neutral or uncoupled position of the lower setting member, the Alocking device is subjected to the action of a member, for example a spring, which in the uncoupled position turns it constantly in the same directionuntil it comes to rest on the fixed housing guide. For this purpose it is particularly advantageous to make use of the coupling spring which is already available. In further development of the general idea of the invention the safety device for the coupling disc uncoupled :from the drive, and the locking device for the lower setting member in the uncoupled position, are both lbeing arranged directly on a xed part of the housing of the fuse setting machine so as to be axially displaceable but non-rotatable thereon. Thus the coupling l spring is placed between the coupling disc for the drive and the lower setting member and presses the two locking members into final positions on their fixed guide by thrusts which are constantly similarly and oppositely directed, so that faulty neutral positions due to the aforesaid play cannot occur.
A typical embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing wherein Figs. 1 to 3 represent one longitudinal section and twov cross-sections respectively through the setting sockets.
In the drawing B represents the lowerk setting member which carries the setting nose b and which is rotatably mounted in the housing c of the fuse setting machine. k represents the coupling disc which is mountedso as to be rotatable and axially displaceable on the hub b5 of the lower setting member, the hub being provided with a screw thread (1)12) of quick pitch. g represents the -driving device which is constantly in rotation. Between the setting member B and the coupling disc 7c there is mounted the coupling spring f3, which rests at one end on the lower setting -member B and on the other side von a able keyways.
