Abstract

The invention described is a novelty gift card delivery system. The novelty gift card delivery system is spring loaded so that during an actuation event a gift card is delivered.

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • The present application claims the benefit of the priority date of 15 Jun. 2007 of U.S. provisional application 60/934,845.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention
  • The invention relates to novelty items.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention employs a novelty toy employing spring loaded means to deliver a novelty card to a recipient. The novelty toy permits insertion and removal of the novelty card. The novelty toy may then be reused to deliver a second card to a second recipient.

  • FIG. 1 is a perspective of a gift delivery system according to the present invention;

  • FIG. 3 is a partial view according to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2.
  • With more particular reference to the drawings the following is set forth.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As best seen in FIG. 1 is a gift card delivery device 10. The gift card delivery device 10 is comprised in part of a gift card delivery device structure 20.
  • The gift card delivery device structure 20 is conveniently in the shape of a box. The gift card delivery device structure 20 has located therein a gift card delivery device FIG. 30.
  • The gift card delivery device FIG. 30 is any convenient manner of accomplishing the goals of the invention one of which is to provide a decorative element. In this particular embodiment, the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 is in the form of a court jester. The gift card delivery device FIG. 30 may also be an item such as a hat, an animal, or any other structure.
  • Conveniently, the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 has a gift card delivery device figure arm 34. The gift card delivery device figure arm 34 will conveniently function to hold a gift card as later described.
  • A gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 provides motive force for the gift card delivery device FIG. 30. The gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is conveniently helical and conical. The narrow end (the apex) of the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is located such that when the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is in a relaxed state the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 will be at the greatest distance from the gift card delivery device structure 20.
  • A gift card delivery device compressible spring retention mechanism 50 is located within the gift card delivery device structure 20. A gift card delivery device covering 60 is employed in part to conceal the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 and to prevent inadvertent contact of a user of the gift card delivery device 10 with the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40.
  • Conveniently, the gift card delivery device compressible spring retention mechanism 50 is adhered to the gift card delivery device structure inner surface 70. The broad end (the base) of the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is affixed within the gift card delivery device structure 20 at the gift card delivery device structure inner surface 70.
  • The gift card delivery device structure 20 is further comprised of a gift card delivery device structure lid 122. The gift card delivery device structure lid 122 is typically a hinged structure movable such that the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 will extend outward from the gift card delivery device structure 20 when the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is in a relaxed state.
  • The gift card delivery device structure lid 122 is associated with a gift card delivery device structure latch 124. A gift card delivery device latch release mechanism 126 makes contact with the gift card delivery device structure latch 124 when in the closed position of the gift card delivery device structure 20. When the gift card delivery device latch release mechanism 126 is activated the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 urges of the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 from the gift card delivery device structure 20. The gift card delivery device structure lid 122 is also urged away from the closed position of the gift card delivery device structure 20.
  • The gift card delivery device structure 20 is further comprised of a gift card delivery device structure rear side 128, a gift card delivery device structure second side 130, a gift card delivery device structure third side 132, a gift card delivery device structure bottom surface 134, and a gift card delivery device structure front side 138.
  • As previously noted a gift card delivery device envelope 150 is associated with the gift card delivery device FIG. 30. The gift card delivery device envelope 150 has a gift card delivery device envelope top edge gift card delivery device envelope top edge 160. Joining the gift card delivery device envelope top edge 160 is a gift card delivery device envelope top surface 162.
  • Perpendicular to the gift card delivery device envelope top edge 160 is a gift card delivery device envelope first side edge 164. A gift card delivery device envelope bottom edge 166 is perpendicular to the gift card delivery device envelope first side edge 164. A gift card delivery device envelope second side edge 168 is perpendicular to the gift card delivery device envelope bottom edge 166.
  • A gift card delivery device envelope bottom surface 170 contacts the gift card delivery device envelope top edge 160, the gift card delivery device envelope top surface 162, the gift card delivery device envelope first side edge 164, the gift card delivery device envelope bottom edge 166, and the gift card delivery device envelope second side edge 168. The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is conveniently made from a clear plastic.
  • A gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 is located at the gift card delivery device envelope top edge 160. A gift card delivery device rounded top edge 174 forms a portion of the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172. The gift card delivery device rounded top edge 174 is located at the midpoint of the gift card delivery device envelope top edge gift card delivery device rounded top edge 174.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is conveniently oriented so that the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the gift card delivery device structure bottom surface 134. That is, the gift card delivery device envelope first side edge 164 and the gift card delivery device envelope second side edge 168 are substantially parallel to the gift card delivery device structure bottom surface 134.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 may also be oriented such that the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 is open toward the gift card delivery device structure inner surface 70. The gift card delivery device envelope 150 may also be oriented such that the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 is open toward the gift card delivery device structure lid 122.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is spaced apart from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 on the side of the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 away from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122. The gift card delivery device rounded top edge 174 is spaced apart from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122. In this manner a gift card delivery device card 180 may be easily inserted into (or removed from) the gift card delivery device envelope 150. The gift card delivery device envelope 150 may also be oriented so that the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 faces upward in the direction that the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 opens.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is affixed the gift card delivery FIG. 30. The manner of affixing the gift card delivery device envelope 150 to the gift card delivery FIG. 30 may be by means of an adhesive or staple.
  • In use, a gift card delivery device card 180 is inserted into the gift card delivery device envelope 150. The gift card delivery device card 180 may be redeemable item having value, currency or it may simply be a greeting card. The gift card delivery device card 180 is intended to be removed from the gift card delivery device envelope 150 with ease. Such will permit the gift card delivery device 10 to be a reusable item.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is adhered to a portion of the gift card delivery FIG. 30. As seen in FIG. 1 the gift card delivery device envelope 150 is attached to the gift card delivery device figure arm 34. Downward pressure is applied upon the gift card delivery FIG. 30 to position the gift card delivery FIG. 30 into the gift card delivery device structure 20. Simultaneously, the gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 is compressed by the downward action of the gift card delivery device FIG. 30. The gift card delivery device FIG. 30 is then urged into the gift card delivery device structure 20 by maintaining pressure on the gift card delivery device FIG. 30.
  • The gift card delivery device structure lid 122 is then hingedly positioned such that the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 contacts an upward portion of the gift card delivery device FIG. 30. The gift card delivery device structure latch 124 of the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 will then contact and activating portion of the gift card delivery device latch release mechanism 126.
  • The gift card delivery device latch release mechanism 126 will then cooperate with the gift card delivery device structure latch 124 to maintain the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 in a closed position with the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 entirely with in the gift card delivery device structure 20.
  • Upon a recipient receiving the gift card delivery device 10 it is expected that the gift card delivery device latch release mechanism 126 will be activated by the recipient to release the gift card delivery device structure latch 124. The gift card delivery device compressible spring 40 will then decompress forcing the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 upward from the gift card delivery device structure gift card delivery device structure 20 and hingedly moving to the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 away from the closed position of the gift card delivery device structure 20.
  • The presence of the gift card delivery device envelope 150 will then become apparent to the recipient. The recipient may then remove the gift card delivery device card 180 from the gift card delivery device envelope 150.
  • The gift card delivery device 10 may be sold with a prepaid or unprepaid gift card delivery device card 180 in the gift card delivery device envelope 150. For loss prevention concerns, the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 may be open toward the gift card delivery device structure inner surface 70 or a side such as gift card delivery device structure rear side 128.
  • The gift card delivery device envelope 150 is spaced apart from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 on the side of the gift card delivery device FIG. 30 away from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122. The gift card delivery device rounded top edge 174 is spaced apart from the gift card delivery device structure lid 122. In this manner a gift card delivery device card 180 may be easily inserted into (or removed from) the gift card delivery device envelope 150. The gift card delivery device envelope 150 may also be oriented so that the gift card delivery device envelope opening 172 faces upward in the direction that the gift card delivery device structure lid 122 opens
  • From the above description of the invention, those skilled in the art will perceive improvements, changes and modifications. Such improvements, changes and modifications within the skill of the art are intended to be covered by the appended claims.

Claims (4)

1. A device in the form of a box having a hinged structure, a delivery device with in the box, and the delivery device having a portion thereof capable of retaining a plastic card.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein said box has one open end that may be closed off by said hinged structure, four side regions, and one bottom region, wherein said portion capable of retaining a plastic card has an opening for inserting the gift card therein and the opening is oriented toward said hinged structure.
3. The device of claim 1 wherein said box has one open end that may be closed off by said hinged structure, four side regions, and one bottom region, wherein said portion capable of retaining a plastic card has an opening for inserting the gift card therein and the opening is oriented toward said bottom region.
4. The device of claim 1 wherein said box has one open end that may be closed off by said hinged structure, four side regions, and one bottom region, wherein said portion capable of retaining a plastic card has an opening for inserting the gift card therein and the opening is oriented one of said side regions.
