Abstract

A strap with a snap integrated into its design along with an accessory is disclosed. The integrated snap allows for the strap to be attached to another article such as a carabiner with an integrated snap. The addition of the snap allows for the strap to be easily and quickly attached or detached from the other article.

  • 1. Field of Endeavor
  • This invention is in the field of Package and Article Carriers, subclass Strap (224/651)
      • 2. Description of Known Information
  • Straps have been used with carabiners for a number of years (U.S. Pat. No. 5,416,955; U.S. Pat. No. 6,606,796; U.S. Pat. No. 5,517,949). Typically these straps are made out of nylon material and have a loop sewn into them which goes around the carabiner. The other end of the strap typically has a metal ring, as described in U.S. Pat. No. 6,606,796. Such rings are commonly used for use with keys. There are also products on the market that have a rubber or plastic ring and have been used to secure or tote plastic drink bottles.
  • Such straps can be difficult and or time consuming to separate from the carabiner if desired. In the case of a person with long legs using a key ring attached to a carabiner via a strap, may wish to leave the carabiner attached to his clothing when the person is driving. One such example would be so that the carabiner does not interfere with the person's legs while driving a vehicle. As a result these carabiners with straps attached typically become a single use product.
  • The straps disclosed herein are designed to be much more versatile in their uses. The integration of a female snap into the strap allows for it to be easily attached and removed from a carabiner with an integrated male snap or other article that has a male snap. The strap herein may also contain a loop on the one end so that it could be used with carabiners that do not have an integrated snap. This would be done by sliding the carabiner through the sewn loop.
    • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The strap disclosed herein integrates a snap (female portion) attached to it. The addition of the snap allows it to be easily attached or detached from a carabiner with a male snap integrated into it, a clothing article with an unused male snap or other non-clothing article.
  • The strap disclosed herein may also have a loop sewn into the one end so that it could be attached to a traditional carabiner. The opposite end would typically have a ring, lariat, badge holder, small stuff sack or fastener.
    • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows the preferred embodiment from the front with a lariat attached to the one end.

    •  DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • FIG. 1 shows the subject invention in the preferred embodiment. 1 is the strap. 2 is the front of the female snap. 3 shows the stitching which secures the 4 lariat to the strap.
  • The preferred embodiment introduces a snap so that it can be easily attached or detached to a carabiner with a male snap. The preferred embodiment can be manufactured by sewing the ends of the strap so that it does not fray apart. Then a female snap can then be attached by placing one of the two pieces of a female snap on the one side of the strap and the second piece on the opposite side of the strap and then secure them together. They could be secured using a pair of pliers specially made for fastening snaps, a stamp tool or an automated machine. Then the one end of the strap can be wrapped around the lariat and then sewn together securing the lariat
  • FIG. 2 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears from the side in which you can see the snap 5, 6 on both the front and back of strap. 7 shows the lariat secured to the strap
  • FIG. 3 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears from the back in which the back part of the female snap 8 can be seen.
  • FIG. 4 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears from the front with a badge holder 9 attached to it.
  • FIG. 5 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears with a pocket 10 sewn into the strap so that a knife, small flashlight or other small article could be stored.
  • FIG. 6 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears with small stuff sack 11 attached to it. The stuff sack could be used to carry a windbreaker, light jacket, rain gear or other articles.
  • FIG. 7 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears with a metal eyelet 12 that has a keyring 13 through it.
  • FIG. 8 shows the preferred embodiment as it appears with a keyring 14 attached to the strap. 15 shows the stitching which secures the keyring 14.
  • FIG. 9 shows strap 16 attached to a carabiner 17 that has a male snap incorporated into it. The female snap 18 secured to the strap is in front of where the male snap on the carabiner is located.

Claims (1)

1. A strap that incorporates a female snap and an accessory:
whereby said female snap is used to attach the strap to another article that has a male snap of like size. One such article could be a carabiner that has a male snap integrated into its body. This allows for the strap to be easily and quickly attached or detached to the other article. The attachment could be something that is already known such as a lariat, keyring or something yet unknown but would be handy to have incorporated for purposes of securing another article.
