An insert that inserts into a stretch wrap roll core having a first tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a first lip surrounding the first tubular body and a first curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the first tubular body, the second side of the first tubular body having a first attachment means for attaching to another tubular body, and a second tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a second lip surrounding the second tubular body and a second curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the second tubular body, the second side of the second tubular body having a second attachment means for attaching to the first tubular body's first attachment means.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • The present invention is directed to an insert that is inserted within a stretch wrap roll core.
  • In the stretch wrap industry, many attempts have been made to develop a device that will allow users of a stretch wrap roll wrap film around goods.
  • The most common method of wrapping goods in the industry is to insert ones hands within the roll core and have the roll core spin around ones fingers while wrapping the goods. This method requires the user of the wrap roll core to wear gloves or suffer sever burning of the outer sides of the fingers abutting the inner sides of the wrap roll core. Another disadvantage with this method is that gloves used to prevent burning also makes it difficult to insert the fingers within the wrap roll core.
  • Inserts have been developed to resolve the burning problem. Insert rings have been developed to insert within the wrap roll core. The insert rings eliminate the friction between the fingers and the wrap roll core, for the friction is transferred to insert wrings. The only drawback to the rings is that the fingers of the user are positioned in a manner that is contrary to how the hand normally rests. The fingers are linearly lined and the inner fingers are placed so that they are further depressed than the outer fingers. This is a very uncomfortable position to hold something. A more natural position would be to have the outer fingers further depressed than the inner fingers.
  • Another insert that has been invented is an insert that has at least one handle extend outward from the wrap roll core. This insert eliminates the burning associated with placing ones fingers within the roll core. The only disadvantage to this type of insert is that it makes it very difficult to wrap things close to the ground.
  • An object of this invention is to provide an insert that will prevent the normal burning of the fingers when using a stretch wrap roll core.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an insert that will allow a user to insert the fingers in an ergonomic way.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide an insert that will allow a user using a stretch wrap roll to wrap goods close to the ground.
  • SUMMARY
  • The present invention is directed to an insert that is inserted within a stretch wrap roll core that satisfies the following needs: providing a user with an ergonomic insert that inserts within the stretch wrap roll core; prevents burning of the outer finger of the fingers inserted within the wrap roll core; and allows the user to wrap goods close to the ground. The insert that inserts into a stretch wrap roll core comprises a first tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a first lip surrounding the first tubular body and a first curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the first tubular body, the second side of the first tubular body having a first attachment means for attaching to another tubular body, and a second tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a second lip surrounding the second tubular body and a second curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the second tubular body, the second side of the second tubular body having a second attachment means for attaching to the first tubular body's first attachment means.
  • The present invention can be reusable or disposable. When the invention is reusable, the first attachment means will be a male attachment means and the second attachment means will be a female attachment means. The male attachment means screws within the female attachment means so that the first and second curved handles are lined up linearly. In the disposable model of the present invention, the first attachment means would be glued to the second attachment means so that the handles of the first and second tubular bodies are lined up linearly.
  • The present invention is used by inserting the first and second tubular bodies within a stretch wrap roll core. Then inserting ones fingers within the tubular bodies so that ones fingers ergonomically wrest on the curved handles of the tubular bodies. Then placing the thumbs of the hands over the stretch wrap of the stretch wrap roll. Then tightly wrapping the stretch wrap around goods to be wrapped by using the thumbs to apply tension between the goods and the stretch wrap roll.

  • WRITTEN DESCRIPTION
  • As seen in FIGS. 1-9, an insert 100 that inserts into a stretch wrap roll core 22 comprises a first tubular body 14 a having a first and a second side, the first side having a first lip 18 surrounding the first tubular body 14 a and a first curved handle 18 a within the inner side of the first side of the first tubular body 14 a, the second side of the first tubular body 14 a having a first attachment means 12 for attaching to another tubular body, and a second tubular body 14 b having a first and a second side, the first side having a second lip 18 surrounding the second tubular body 14 b and a second curved handle 18 a within the inner side of the first side of the second tubular body 14 b, the second side of the second tubular body having a second attachment means 16 for attaching to the first tubular body's 14 a first attachment means 12.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the first attachment means 12 is a male attachment means 12 and the second attachment means 16 is a female attachment means 16. The male attachment means 12 screws within the female attachment means 16 after the first 12 and second 16 attachment means are inserted within the stretch wrap roll core 22 a.
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the first 12 and the second 16 attachment means are permanently attached within the stretch wrap roll core 22.
  • The present invention can be reusable or disposable. When the invention is reusable, the first attachment means 12 is a male attachment means 12 and the second attachment means 16 is a female attachment means 16. The male attachment means 12 screws within the second attachment means 16 so that the first and second curved handles 18 a are lined up linearly. In the disposable model of the present invention, the first attachment means 12 is glued to the second attachment means 16 so that the handles of the first and second tubular bodies 18 a are lined up linearly.
  • As seen in FIGS. 10-13, the present invention is used by inserting the insert's first and second tubular bodies 14 a-b within the stretch wrap roll core 22. Then attaching the first tubular body's 14 a first attachment means 12 to the second tubular body's 14 b second attachment means 16 so that the handles of the first and second tubular bodies 18 a are lined up linearly. Then inserting ones fingers within the first and second tubular bodies 14 a-b so that ones fingers ergonomically wrest on the curved handles of the tubular bodies 18 a. Then placing the thumbs of the hands over the stretch wrap of the stretch wrap roll. Then tightly wrapping the stretch wrap around goods to be wrapped by using the thumbs to apply tension between the goods and the stretch wrap roll.
  • An advantage of this invention is that it provides an insert that prevents the normal burning of the fingers when using a stretch wrap roll core.
  • Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an insert that allows a user to insert his fingers within the insert in an ergonomic manner.
  • A further advantage of the present invention is that it provides an insert that allows a user using a stretch wrap roll to wrap goods close to the ground.
  • Although the present invention has been described in considerable detail with reference to certain preferred versions thereof, other versions are possible. Therefore the spirit and the scope of the claims should not be limited to the description of the preferred versions contained herein.

Claims (4)

1. An insert that inserts into a stretch wrap roll core comprising:
a first tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a first lip surrounding the first tubular body and a first curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the first tubular body, the second side of the first tubular body having a first attachment means for attaching to another tubular body; and
a second tubular body having a first and a second side, the first side having a second lip surrounding the second tubular body and a second curved handle within the inner side of the first side of the second tubular body, the second side of the second tubular body having a second attachment means for attaching to the first tubular body’ first attachment means.
2. The insert of claim 1, wherein the first attachment means is a male attachment means and the second attachment means is a female attachment means, the male attachment means screws within the female attachment means after the first and second attachment means are inserted within the stretch wrap roll core.
3. The insert of claim 1, wherein the first and the second attachment means are permanently attached within the stretch wrap roll core.
4. A method of using the insert of claim 2 for wrapping goods, comprising the steps of:
inserting the insert's first and second tubular bodies within the stretch wrap roll core;
then, attaching the first tubular body's first attachment means to the second tubular body's second attachment means so that the handles of the first and second tubular bodies are lined up linearly;
then, inserting ones fingers within the first and second tubular bodies so that ones fingers ergonomically wrest on the curved handles of the tubular bodies; then, placing the thumbs of the hands over the stretch wrap of the stretch wrap roll core; and
lastly, tightly wrapping the stretch wrap around goods to be wrapped by using the thumbs to apply tension between the goods and the stretch wrap roll core.
