Abstract
A baby carrier that is made of water resistant materials and its design suits the materials the carrier is made of and the purpose it is intended to fulfill. The carrier comprises a sheet that envelops the baby's body, a harness and belts that attach the sheet to the adult's body, and standard plastic connectors. The connectors are made of plastic, whereas the carrier's sheet, harnesses and belts are made of a water resistant material such as the material used in the manufacture of scuba diving or surfing suits, namely neoprene.
Description
- The present invention is a baby carrier made of water resistant materials such as those used in the manufacture of scuba diving and surfing suits, for instance neoprene.
- It is an accepted practice among the general public to use a variety of baby carriers that are based on a carrier that is harnessed to the shoulders and waist of the adult carrying the baby, while the baby is held against the adult's chest. When the baby is harnessed into the carrier, it can be positioned either with its back to the adult's face or face-to-face with the adult.
- Carriers today are commonly designed and made of materials that are based on fabric or spongy materials, or a combination thereof. As a result, carriers that exist nowadays are not intended for use at the swimming pool or beach. In order to solve this problem, the present invention is, in fact, a baby carrier that is made of water resistant materials and its design suits the materials it is made of and the purpose it is intended to fulfill.
- The present invention is, in fact, a baby carrier that is made of water resistant materials and its design suits the materials it is made of and the purpose it is intended to fulfill. The carrier comprises a sheet that envelops the baby's body, a harness and straps that attach the sheet to the adult's body, and standard plastic connectors. The sheet is made of one piece (seamless). The connectors are made of plastic. The carrier's sheet, harnesses and straps are made of a water resistant material such as the material used in the manufacture of scuba diving or surfing suits, namely neoprene.
- The following drawing is not intended to limit the scope of the invention and the method of its application. The drawing is intended only to illustrate the invention and constitutes only one possible way of its application.
- Drawing No. 1: Drawing No. 1 illustrates the carrier (1), subject of the invention, which comprises a sheet (2) composed of a front part (3) and a bottom part (4). The carrier also includes two harnesses (5) that are attached at one end to the sheet, by means of connectors (6), and at the other end to a central ring (7), to which two straps (8) and (9) are attached, by means of another connector (10). In addition, the drawing shows adjustment straps (11) that attach to the bottom part of the sheet by means of connectors (12).
- The present invention is a baby carrier (1) that is made of water resistant materials and its design suits the materials the carrier is made of and the purpose it is intended to fulfill. The structure and design of the carrier, subject of the invention, are illustrated in Drawing No. 1.
- The carrier, subject of the invention, is composed of a sheet (2) on which the baby is seated and which envelops the baby's body. During use, the front part (3) of the carrier is in contact with the baby's chest while the bottom part (4) of the sheet serves as the baby's seat.
- The carrier is also equipped with a pair of harnesses (5) (right and left). The front ends of each of the two harnesses (5) connect to the upper right-hand and upper left-hand edges of the sheet (2) by means of connectors (6). The end of one of the harnesses may be permanently connected to either the upper right-hand or left-hand edge of the sheet. The back ends of the two harnesses (5) connect to the central ring (7), which, during use, is positioned in the center of the adult's back. Two straps are connected to the central ring (7). One strap is long (8) and its other end is either stitched or fastened or otherwise connected to the bottom part of the sheet (4). The second strap is shorter (9) and its other end is connected by means of a connector (10) to the other end of the longer strap (8). The carrier (1) is also equipped with two adjustment straps (11) that are connected to the bottom part of the sheet (4) by mean of two connectors (12).
- The connectors and central ring are made of plastic, preferably rigid plastic, whereas the sheet, harnesses and straps are made of a water resistant material such as that used in the manufacture of scuba diving or surfing suits, namely neoprene. For more effective implementation of the invention, the sheet should be made of one piece (seamless).
- The carrier, subject of the invention, has many advantages, including that it enables the adult to enter a swimming pool or the sea with a baby, without the risk of the baby slipping out of the adult's hands. The carrier also frees the adult's hands for any other purpose, including caring for additional children. In addition, the material from which the carrier, subject of the invention, is made enables efficient and convenient use in water as well as on land, for any purpose, as opposed to standard baby carriers that are made of fabric or sponge-like materials and other materials that are inconvenient for use in water situations.
